Hello, Everyone :D

I hear that Mission Space may be open for a few hours during my visit in two weeks. Just in case, I need your help and advice in deciding whether or not to ride.

Here's my situation:

I love roller coasters (even upside down turns and BIG drops).

I love the Tower of Terror.

However, I get sick on simulator rides. Star Tours upsets my stomach a little, but I can survive.

Body Wars makes me absolutely green (on the verge of throwing up for at least an hour or so afterwords). Although, I did learn a trick last summer when I rode.

I didn't look at the screen at all. Instead I focused on the wall. I experienced no sickness, and I laughed myself silly. The bumps and bounces were fun!

I'm not worried about the tight space in Mission Space. That shouldn't bother me.

I'm just worried about motion sickness. If I so much as look at a computer screen when someone is playing Doom, I feel like throwing up.

Will I be able to survive Mission Space? I hate to miss the experience, but I REALLY don't want to throw up.

Thanks for any-and-all advice!

I am the same way with the simulator rides.
I am planing on taking dramamine.
They have a 24 hr. pill, so you only have to take it once a day.
I hope that will work, because I hate to miss out on those, great rides. ;)

I'm with you guys. I can ride everything in all parks without a problem, except Tea Cups and Body Wars/Star Tours.

Given the opportunity, I will definitely do M:S though! Definitely considering the dramamine option!!

My guess is that it is the visual elements of Body Wars/Star Tours that give some people problems. Focusing on the wall, closing your eyes - these take that visual element out of the mix and people are fine.

I say ride Mission:Space. Keep your head back, eyes straight ahead, and have an empty stomach and I bet you'll be fine. The visual elements of M:S don't seem to be as immersive as BW/ST.

It really is a no brainer to ride. Fact of the matter is you are already interested, and deep down you have already decided to ride. The question isn't will you ride, the only question is will you yak? I say you probably won't, but who cares - you have to at least give it a go once.

I rode it about a week ago. I would describe myself the same. I hate star tours. Mission Space will make you sick if you are at all inclined to motion sickness. I was sick for about two hours after the ride and I did everything I was supposed to do to avoid it.

I will never ride again unless it is the last ride of the day and I won't mind feeling sick the rest of the evening.

I get sick as well. I am pretty sure that this ride is going to be a skip by for me. DH and DS are going to do it though on our Halloween trip. I can't wait to hear all about it though. I get really sick on Body Wars & the Tea Cups. Like ruin the whole rest of my day sick. To me no ride is worth this anymore.

Some loopy roller coasters make me sick to my stomach and all simulators do, but, I plan on riding Mission Space when I'm down there....just take Dramamine or Bonine the night before (a hour or so before you go to bed)

For dramamine (or gravol) to be truly effective you need to take it 45 minutes before riding (preferably on an empty stomach) so it is currently active in your system. Taking it the night before will not help you the next day-unless it is the 24 hour kind. Personally I regular dramamine helps alleviate nausea better. You can also take it every 4-6 hours if necessary.

Body Wars makes me sick, but I am definitely going to take the pill and give this ride at least one shot. I wasn't too sure about TOT and it's now my favorite MGM attraction:D

Most people know their limits, and if you can handle "most" of the wilder rides, then take a Bonine, and give it a try.

I use to get sick on a carousel when I was a kid, and Tilt A Whirl made me hurl!! Never had the stomach for most rides! As I got older, I learned to love Space, Splash and Thunder Mtns. and Test Track, and I use to do TOT before it went up and down a million times.

But I still know my limits. RNR and MS are definitely not for me. I'm not good on simulator rides or anything that spins around. Years ago when I tried Back to The Future in Universal, I was dizzy and sick for hours afterwards. Not the kind of feeling I want to have in the Florida heat.

Sorry, I should have said Dramamine II...it lasts for 24 hours.:D
