I put the wrong age for a kid in the hotel resort reservation

Will this cause an issue? When I booked the reservation I put the child's current age of 8, but the time of the trip she'll be 9. Both ages are considered Disney child. I tried changing it online and it gives me an error and won't let me change it. Will I need to call and have this fixed or have to cancel and rebook? Or is it okay to just leave as is?

It'll be fine - it's all tied into that child's actual age in their profile, so it'll update. DS just turned 7 the day before our July trip. I had to make all of our reservations with him showing up as 6. Hope that makes sense. :-)

Will this child be traveling with you often? If so, then get the change made. It could be as simple as calling and doing a name change on the reservation so that it would be something like "remove Charlotte Smith, age 8 and add Charlotte Rose Smith, age 9". Only changing the lead name on a reservation requires a cancellation and re-booking.

If this is a one-time trip with the child, just let it alone. Disney doesn't care if the child is 8 or 9. They do care if they are 9 or 10.

In your case, I would just leave it alone. My kids ages are constantly wrong, no matter how many times I've called to get this fixed and they don't update properly on their birthday. The only time it might matter is if they are moving from Disney child to Disney adult for ticket or dining plan purposes.

I will be traveling with them often so I probably should get it fixed eventually. Where would you put there birthday? When we buy them tickets? When I booked the hotel it didn't ask for a specific birthday just the age.

Sorry for all the questions. It's the first time I'll be going with kids and I'm a little lost

I did this once... booked a package with the dining plan and made my son 10 when he was really 9 (he HATED the kids meals on the DDP and he's a big eater. I did not mind paying the price difference). We then decided not to use the DDP, and I called and had him changed to 9. It was no problem for the CM to do.

It only updates if you put in the birthdate to mde AND if mde doesn't glitch.

Do it while setting up the profile for the child on mde.

At some point you're going to want to call to get this fixed.

Thank you for the correction. I thought you had to enter their birthday by default... my bad. :thumbsup2

I updated her birthday in the friends and family list. Will that be enough for the hotel since it now has her birthday on file?

One other time it matters is when the age turns from 17 to 18 because of the extra adult fee for resort rooms. I "aged up" my youngest once years ago for dining plan purposes and just recently had to correct her age as Disney thought she'd be 18 on our next trip.

It did let me fix it online, I didn't have to call.
