Thanks to all the great responses I've received I've tweaked our DL plans. We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow! :cool1: DH went and picked up the SW tickets from CAA (AAA) today and I think we're about ready except for the packing!

On this trip it'll be me, DH and 18 month DS. We have the 5 day dining plan at DL.

Wednesday, Feb 9th - fly into John Wayne. Take taxi to Carousel Inn. Should be about 2:00 when we check-in. Head over to DL for some food as will be 5 p.m. our time! Let DS wear off some energy after plane ride. Hopefully early to bed to recover from the time change and early morning plane ride.

Thursday, Feb 10th - Continental breakfast at hotel. EE to Fantasyland at 9. Character brunch at Storytellers at GCH at 11:00. Naptime. Back to DL for supper and evening.

Friday, Feb 11th - Pacific Wharf for Breakfast in the Park voucher. Hang out in CA. Naptime. Back to CA for supper and for the Electric Parade at 8.

Saturday, Feb 12th - DH will pick up car from National around 8 a.m. Check out of Carousel after continental breakfast. Drive to Legoland. Hoping DS will snooze some in car and we can stay till later afternoon or when park closes at 5. If he doesn't and is crabby we'll load him into car and head to San Diego hotel. If not we'll eat supper in Carlsbad after park closes at 5 and than head to San Diego. Check into California Suites hotel on Clairmont Mesa Blvd. (I hope this place is not too much of a dive but we got a good deal on Expedia - it's only for 2 nights :rolleyes1 .) Hang out in hotel. If we have not yet eaten perhaps order in a pizza or get takeout.

Sunday, Feb 13th - Free continental breakfast. If we get early start to the morning maybe take a drive thru Balboa Park and stop for a play at the playground/ride miniature train. Go to Seaworld. When DS gets cranky head back to hotel for nap. (Hoping this will be enought time at SW!) Spend evening at hotel?

Monday, Feb 14th Check out of San Diego hotel. Stop in a Mission Bay Park playground. Let DS play in sand and have a play to burn off some energy before the drive back to Anaheim. Check back into Carousel Inn. Spend day at CA.
This is the part that annoys me. I wanted to drive back to Anaheim Sunday night after SW so we could have a full day at DL. However the Carousel was booked Sunday night. When we arrive on Monday the check-in won't be until 3 so hopefully DS naps in the car as we won't have a room before that!

Tuesday, Feb 15th Breakfast in the Park voucher for Club Buzz. Hit Toontown madness at 10. Naptime after lunch. After nap maybe go to the Movieland Wax Museum for a bit (I have a 2-for-1) and the Disney outlet store. Go back into DL for a bite to eat until closing.

Wednesday, Feb 16th Drive to Hollywood (or we may chicken out and take the Metro :bitelip: )! Do a 1 hour trolley tour at 11. Walk down the Hollywood Blvd and have lunch at the Hollywood/Highland shopping complex. After lunch head back to Anaheim for nap time. PS at Goofy's Kitchen at 5:30. Finish up souvenir shopping in DD with our 10% coupon we got with our package! :D

Thursday, Feb 17th DH will return car first thing in the morning. Taxi back to John Wayne. Plane ride home. Flight leaves about 11:30. :sad1:

Thank you so much for all the great tips and for answering all my questions! We're starting to get excited and DS luvs watching his DL tape so hopefully that's a good omen!

If you do decide to drive to Hollywood (& really, it's not all bad) - busy but we're not loons out here ;) ... go up the street that's on the left of Mann's Chinese Theater. There's an underground parking structure that services that area and the Kodak Theater. I was pleasantly pleased to park in there last August when we visited - parking was about $2.

Thanks for the tip!

One more tip for "Hollywood/Highland" complex.

When traveling up there, stay on the 101 freeway to HIGHLAND Ave...do not get off at Hollywood Blvd. Stay to the right off the ramp and it will curve under the freeway. When you get to the light, turn left onto Highland. Just past the Renaisance (sp?) Hotel will be the parking entrance for the underground structure that's VERY cheap to park at like Mary Jo said.

Also, depending on what you're schedule is, cross the street and see a movie at the El Capitan Theater. They run Disney/Touchstone movies and it's a beautiful theater inside. You might even get a Disney Character show depending on the movie that's being played.

Ok...I'm off to WDW tomorrow!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a great trip.

A couple of more goodies to consider. It sounds like you have a train fan in the group, so checkout the San Diego Model Railroad Museum in Balboa Park (an easy walk from the Zoo entrance). There are 4-5 very large model railroad layouts for your viewing pleasure.

In Hollywood, if you have a couple of free hours, I second seeing a Disney flick in the El Capitan. There is a live stage show that is enjoyable for all ages.

Actually, if you have some time and your little one likes trains, go and visit the LA Live Steamers at Griffith Park near the LA Zoo. They have train rides on miniature trains. It's really neat the way they decorate the trains that they look like the full-scale models! The rides are free on Sundays.

Other than that, your plans sounds like a lot of fun! Have a great trip!

EDIT: Ooops! I just re-read that you won't be in LA on Sunday for the train rides. Anyways, it's worth checking out just to see them.

Yes, we discovered those parking garages by accident - not sure if it's the same - our was a block after Mann's on the right. But it was only $2 with validation - you have to buy something in the shopping centre behind Manns. We bought a pretzel and they stamped the ticket. If you don't get the ticket validated it's much more expensive.

And make sure you are very sure of your directions before you go - it's very easy to get lost.
