Directly from VMK site.

Play VMK and enter to win an iPod nano. Every weekday for four weeks, one lucky VMK player will win a cool new iPod nano! Make your friends happy by sharing the fun of VMK — then make them jealous when you win! Hook new players up to VMK to qualify. It's that easy.

How to enter:

Tell three friends about VMK — new Players only
When your friends register to play, make sure they enter your VMK Character name where it says 'Referred by' (see image below)
Once the three new Players have listed you, you'll be entered (one entry per Player)!

20 will win!

Ok back to me talking, that is insane! Isn't vmk supposed to try to get money? I guess they think if more people join they will get more money, but this is a "free" game.... Plus each i-pod costs... $250? I think that is the price so $250 times 20 of them... $5000! :earseek:

I don't like the I pod nano sweepstakes, AS I CAN'T ENTER IT! Something about being a non-US citizen.

But I think their goal is to get people hooked on the game. And many that get hooked into it, may try to go to the parks more.

And think about how many people will be trying to get their family and friends to play. If only 1000 people get 2 people each, that's 2000 new people. And if only half of those decide to go to the parks, think of all the money they'll be making! Remember that for only 1 day tickets into only 1 park it's:
WDW MK : $59.75 and DL: $56. $56 x 1000 people = $56,000.
And that doesn't include the families they bring along and all the other money they'll be spending in the parks. :)

And I have a feeling that since they are saying "valid new players" they may not include people in the same household. I think they only way they can really track "valid" new players is by IP since they know that so many of us have mules listed under various email addresses.

And to prove that they know about the mules, I had an encounter with one of the game "Hosts" last week. I was playing 2 characters at the same time. Well, my main character played one of the hosted games and won some credits. And later after I had my main char. out nedding, I entered and played the same game with my mule. I won some credits and the Host in a trade window said that I could come back with my main char. and that I didn't need to use an "alternate" player to come back in. The only way she would have known that I was a "mule" the second time around was if she had seen my IP on both characters. :)

Darn fine print....

I am thinking up a strategy... Maybe we can refer each other, like we make mules and say we got referred by so and so, blah blah blah, you get the point. :)

I first found something suspcious when i was creating some new mules yesterday (I don't have much credits, and I wanted the new hat). I was filling out the registering thing, when i came across:
Referred by:
This puzzeled me. I never filled this out before and I have about over 20 mules. So i just put my vmk name just incase i got something special for it. Then, later that night, i went onto the dis and found a new thread titled IPod Nano!! I thought to myself, "why would IPod nano be on the dis, and in the vmk section?." So i went into it and sure enough found out all about the sweepstakes. It is pretty cool. I have always wanted an ipod, but i could never afford it! My neighbor also really wants an ipod nano for christmas, and i was remebering that my sister and i showed her vmk this summer and she joined up. Now she doesn't play too much because her computer slowed down so we play under her account for her. And i maybe i could enter her into the sweepstakes too. But I think if my character won, i would probably give it to her anyway. She is more into music, and i never seem to get a good present for her! lol

very good thinking! I am totally for that!

Good logic... Now if only I had thought that much... $56,000. I thought $5000 was a lot.

Yeah. I mean, there probably won't be that many people going just because of VMK.

But to just make the money back from the ipods, only 90 people need to go the parks. :)

Not to mention, it's probably not costing Disney $250 per Nano. After all, they just did a huge deal with Apple's iTunes for distrobution of their TV shows for the video iPod... In all likelihood, they probably have crate or two of Nano's to do things like this with. Disney would not miss the opportunity to take advantage of this synergy.
