Then they called all of the kids out for coconut/broom races. James and Marlene were in different heats. Lauren decided she was a little too old for that game.
Heres James in action.
And Marlene.
Throughout all of the festivities, the pork and steak and shrimp were being delivered to our plates by the waiters carrying skewers. Now I hate food porn pictures of half-eaten plates of food, but under the Ohana system of them filling your plate, thats what weve got here. And I know you want to see what the meat looked like, so with my apologies for the appearance, here you are:
Judy ate one shrimp and laid-off of those because they werent de-veined. Id prefer them de-veined, but hey, if theyre not, I wont let that stop me. They were good.
I walked over to the barbecuing area and took a picture.
Then the entertainer came back out (I wish I remembered her name!) and announced that everybody who danced would get a lei. I cant remember if we did the hula or what exactly. (Even if I did the hula, you would probably say, Im not sure if thats the hula, or what exactly.)
I think Marlene took this picture of the bread pudding while I was shakin what my mama gave me.
I took one later, not knowing that she had taken this one, and the ice cream was all melty. Good job Marlene, looking out for my trip report!
Then the mom of the cute little boy on the bus came over with him and told us that their waiter had dropped a whole tray of drinks on him and she had to change his clothes. Fortunately she had a change of clothes with her. Poor little guy.
He was upset, so she brought him over so my kids could help cheer him up. They loved it. I took some pictures and got her e-mail address so I could send them to her when I got back home. When I sent them, I figured shed reply back, and I could ask her if it would be all right if I posted some on a trip report without any names or anything. She never replied. So, in light of that, please enjoy these pictures of my kids with random people at Ohana.
See, when I finally got around to taking a picture of dessert, it looked like this. Good thing Marlene was on the ball.
Full of food and well-entertained, at around 8:00 we decided it was time to leave. Now, in my master-plan for the trip, I was thinking that wed watch the fireworks from the Poly beach, and if you recall, Judy and I had even checked it out the night before. But at 8:00 we had lots of time to get over to the Magic Kingdom to watch the special July 3rd version of the 4th of July fireworks. Only James, my 9 ½ year old, thought that this was a bad idea. He was quite adamant that we should watch from the beach. But I thought itd be better to get closer. Who was right on this decision? Youll have to tune in next time.
One more photo before I wrap up this installment. Out at the Poly monorail stop I noticed all of the foliage and thought it would be a good backdrop for a family picture. I asked a guy who was walking by if he would take our picture with my camera. Heres what he took. Its my favorite family photo of the whole trip.
