I Noticed Something Interesting on MDE… (DHS Icon Talk)

I was reserving Fastpass+ for my upcoming trip when I noticed something interesting. On the screen where you choose the park and date for your FPs, each of the parks has a square button to click on with its icon. Magic Kingdom's icon being Cinderella Castle, Epcot had the geosphere, and Animal Kingdom had the Tree of Life. All of these icons are very obvious, what I found interesting was what they had displayed for Hollywood Studios. Previously, the park icon they had for DHS on the app was the Sorcerer's Hat, with that gone I figured the park icon was back to the Great Movie Ride Theater (or possible even the Earful Tower?)…not so. Now, the icons are displayed as symbol white outlines, but sure enough they had The Tower of Terror as the DHS icon. I find this really interesting…it also makes me wonder if a new icon might be coming to DHS as part of the park's reimagining. What do you guys think? Should the icon be the Earful Tower, the Chinese Theater, or the Tower of Terror? Or possibly something completely new?

Yea they changed the sorcerer hat logo on the fast pass selection a couple months back. There was a thread with those arguing if it was the Great Movie Ride or ToT.

It's indeed ToT and idk how anyone thinks it's the Chinese theater. But as far as what I think the icon of the park should be, since it wouldn't be TSMM or RnR, it should be ToT.

Chinese Theater looks neat and great strolling down from the entrance, but the ToT towers over it, looks better, and is a more popular ride.

I think that DHS's icon should be the Chinese theater. None of the other parks' icons are rides; but what you see when you first walk into the park.

Spaceship Earth is technically a ride, not a thrill ride though.

I agree that TOT is a good icon. The Chinese theater isn't specific to Hollywood Studios since it is a reproduction of something that is actually in LA.

The Geosphere houses an attraction, as does the Tree of Life. But I agree that these icons are placed where the icons should be placed: front and center. ToT is sort of tucked away down Sunset Blvd. And I feel as though ToT is sort of already the icon for Sunset Blvd, not the park itself. For some reason, I didn't like the hat. It was a fine icon, and it was well placed. But for some reason, it always felt temporary.

I agree that the theater isn't a good icon, either. It's too… specific. And it is pretty small. I love the Earful Tower and I love when they use that as the icon for DHS on all of the merchandise, but its also really small, tucked away on the backlot, and really doesn't represent anything having to do with Hollywood or movies. Its just a water tower… with Mickey Ears.

Of the choices we already have, my vote is for the Earful Tower, but I want something completely new. Hopefully DHS gets something good for the makeover.

I agree, none of the current options are truly right as a park icon. I feel like each of the other park's icons stand for something and represent the park as a symbol. Sure, ToT would represent Old Hollywood, but is that all DHS is or is going to be about? Maybe a new icon could be a tribute to Walt's (and Disney's) animation over the years.
