Yes, it is our family's favorite to pair it with a bowl of Campbell's tomato soup! Where I grew up we called grilled cheese - Cheese toasties! Anyone else?I second this idea. Grilled cheese sandwich and a bowl of Campbell’s tomato soup are a perfect combo meal for the family!
Or just eat plain peanut butter on toasted bread! These guys have the grilled cheese thing down, but are you ready to have your mind blown?
TO "plus up" your peanut butter sandwich (plain, or with jelly, or with Honey, etc), lightly toast the bread FIRST. Eat while it is still warm![]()
I did! Back in my school days (graduated high school in 1974), the local school cafeteria's served real food, cooked on site. Along with Campbell's Soup. I liked everything I ever tried, especially the hot cinnamon rolls and peanut butter chews. For me buying lunch was a treat, I usually brought a home made lunch. My own kids thought buying a school lunch was torture, because by then school lunches were inedible. Same school district, new "healthy" ways.
My best friend's mom worked at one of the local school cafe's and brought home a few of the recipes, broken down to family serving sizes. I still make tacos like school did and use the peanut butter chews recipe frequently. They are family favorites here!
I, too, would love it when I was able to buy a school lunch instead of going home at lunch to eat at home . I lived across the street from school so I typically went home each day at lunch time. My favorite meal was any one with the warm baked rolls.
