We have this odd little "nook" in our office that is about 30" wide x 24" deep, floor-to-celing. We haven't done anything with it but DH just told me he'd like to build me a craft cabnet there for my birthday! :goodvibes

I was thinking about doing a lower cabinet with a small counter top/ move the electrical outlet up the wall so I can plug in a glue gun; and then an upper cabinet.

Do any of you seasoned crafters have a craft cabinet? If starting from scratch, how would you design/organize it? What types of drawers or built-in organizers would be helpful? (i.e.: a scrapbook paper drawer)

I've mostly been into ribbons and clippies but do other crafts on occasion. I'm not a rapvooker because I mostly do digital photo books. i'm not as crafty asyou al and would love your ideas!! Thanks!

Hi, another WA stater here!

is your DH building it from scratch? or buying pieces? and putting it together.

my thoughts are to figure out what kind of storage you want first, open/closed, do you want to keep your ribbon and clips in smaller bins to pull out or would built in drawers make more sense. I would have your table as big as you can get so you have plenty of space to spread out on.

I know alot of the ladies get pieces from IKEA, I found metal mesh drawer towers at the Container Store for my items.

good luck with your decisions!

Sounds like the cabinets are the way to go. You may want to get a wider (deeper) than average counter top then you could pull up a stool and sit.
Alot depends on how you plan on storing your items. I've just switched some of my stuff in to open baskets on shelves above my scrap desk. That might be a better top solution so that you could adjust them to your needs. At the very top you could always put in a cabinet like is over a frigde. Also think about lighting to shine down on your space. Do you want an undermounted fixture or a desk top one?

Good Luck it's always fun getting new space
