We are taking a girls trip and bringing my mom (82- but a kid at heart) to Disney. Our 180 day is coming up in a couple of weeks and we are trying to decide on one last dinner reservation.

Our ressies we have decided on so far (if we can get them) are:
  • Cinderella's Royal table - Breakfast
  • 50's Prime Time- lunch
  • O'hana- dinner
  • Tusker House - breakfast
  • Liberty Tree Tavern- lunch
We have narrowed it down to these 3 and would love to have your vote on your favorite and any thoughts would be great.

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall- Dinner (If we choose this, it will be on our second Epcot Day)
Whispering Canyon Café- Dinner (If we choose this, it will be on our second Magic Kingdom Day)
Shutter Old Port Royale- Dinner (We are staying at CBR and Shutters is located at our resort)

Thank you all in advance for all that participate!

I would eliminate WCC if you are on the dining plan. It is hard to choose between Shutters and Akershus. We love Akershus and it is a great value on the dining plan, but will your mom appreciate the princesses? My mom thought they were neat when she saw my daughter with them, but I don't know that Mom would choose to go to Akershus without her grandkids. The food is very good, but it is loud and crowded. Will your mom like that?

We have not eaten at Shutters, but we, too, are staying at CBR in September and I plan to make an ADR there. It looks great, and I have seen some positive reviews of it lately. It is relaxing to eat at the resort where you stay.

If you are not on the dining plan, I would eliminate Akershus and go with Shutters. Akershus is great, but very expensive when you pay OOP. I think you would get better value at Shutters.

We stayed at CBR last year and ate at Shutters. I was pleasant surprised at the excellent service and the delicious food. It is nice to have a relaxing dinner at your own resort at least once during a trip. We also like your other two choices, so you really can't go wrong.

I agree with the PP. Given your 3 choices, I'd try Shutters. I haven't been there (yet) but I hear the food has improved greatly. In fact, the DIS did a mini dining review during one of the last 7-in-7 videos when they stayed at CBR. It was in 2013 & its on youtube. Since you are actually staying at the resort, that would make it an easy, smart choice for your last meal after days of being on the run. The other option (although not on your list), would be to go to DIS Springs & try Raglan Road. Loud (bands & step dancing) but good food & fun.

I would say Akershus if you cant land that Cindy ressie, otherwise, they are somewhat similar. If you do get Cindys, then WCC would be my choice

Shutters has been getting great reports lately! I'm kinda sad that I don't have a free night to eat there.

:thanks: for all your great input!

We are on the dining plan and it will be myself (56), DD(37), DD (26), DMom(82), DS(48).
My 2 daughters, my sister and myself each chose 1 table service that we each wanted (mom didn't get a choice since she has never been and will LOVE everything!) and there was one that was a unanimous choice.
  • Cinderella's Royal table - Breakfast (DD26 choice)
  • 50's Prime Time- lunch - (DD37 choice)
  • O'hana- dinner - my choice
  • Tusker House - breakfast - unanimous choice
  • Liberty Tree Tavern- lunch- (DS48 choice)
We do want mom to have the true Disney experience and we have the princesses covered with Cinderella's Royal Table (if we can get it), we have the characters covered with Tusker House and that should be enough character meals. I didn't know that the princesses are at Akershus for all meals. I thought they were only there for breakfast so I may just put Akershus as a backup IF we can't get Cindy's.
(and yes, we are staying all together in a CBR room for 5 with a murphy bed or roll away :faint:
but a couple of us are small and we love being all together like a big girls slumber party. This is a one time trip and this is the only way a couple of us could fit it into our budget. But this is all for another thread:rotfl:)

Shutters blew me away. Going into the trip last year (our first stay at CBR), it was the ADR I was least excited over. My wife convinced me to give it a shot. Not only was it my favorite steak of the whole trip (topping Narcoossee's and Le Cellier), but the atmosphere was great, and the service was top-notch. We're back at Coronado this year, but I still proposed returning to Shutters.

Here's a question... I'm seeing Illuminations for sure on my third night there. I'll be in EPCOT on my 5th day and was going to see Illuminations again, but that could be a nice night to just be chill and relax and actually have a nice dinner at Shutters. Would you do it over a second viewing of Illuminations in one trip? (I mean, for sure if it were to be cancelled my first day in EPCOT I'd change to see it.)

I tend to err on the side of "always go to the parks", but my wife would probably want to do the "chill and relax" thing :)

Can you hit Shutters early (~5:00), then go to Epcot later? Also, where would you be eating if you went to Epcot?

Ooh, good point - go to the park early for my PPO breakfast, take a midday break and an early dinner, then back to EPCOT! Because i'd probably just snack/counter service if I stayed at the park all day.

I voted for Shutters, though I have never dined there. My mom is in the same age range. I usually try to make dinner reservations either at or near our resort so she doesn't have to travel too far. This also gives her the option of sitting out any evening plans we have in the parks. She has more energy earlier, so there are more choices for breakfast and lunch. Your mom may have more stamina than mine, though!

After seeing the ages of your daughters may I suggest Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness? It is a funny corny musical dinner show that is sure to please all ages. The food is simple like Fried Chicken, Pork Ribs, Corn Bread, Mashed Potatoes, Beans and a seasonal vegetable. Dessert is strawberry shortcake and it is delicious! It is all you can eat and includes beer and wine. Check out youtube of the openinf number:

I'm going to leave this poll open until we have to make our ressie's next Thursday, just in case anyone else wants to vote or give any input!
Thank you all again!
