I need your advice

Another post here for buy where you want to stay most, it does appear you really like BCV. :cool1:

I was in a similiar situation when I decided to become a DVC Member. My choice was VB or BCV. They made a sweeter financial deal for VB, because they wanted to sell it out. I decided to go with the easier financial deal for me and went with VB. I have not been there yet. However, we do stay at BCV when we go in the fall. Sometimes I still regret not buying BCV, but to tell you the truth, it really doesn't matter in the long run. I don't usually book 12-months ahead and thankfully have never been locked out of BCV, even when I have had to be on a wait list. I also own at SSR, because I was unaware that you could buy extra points at a sold out resort. I pay my dues monthly, so I never miss the $$. Good luck in making the decision that is right for you.

I'm guessing your dues are of the subsidized variety.
...I would buy BCV IF -- and it's a big if for a lot of people -- you can plan and book more than seven months in advance...
I'd turn that around and say buy SSR in those situations if, and only if, you will NEVER be able to plan and book more than seven months in advance.

It's safe to say your lifestyle will change a lot in the next 35 years. Buy where you want to stay.

Yes BCV would be through resale at the timeshare store and SSR through Disney. Thank you for all your responses. I am leaning towards BCV for sure.

My husband wants to know if anyone knows how much points cost 5 or even 10 years ago. I would appreciate any info you guys have. I am ready and he really really thinks things out. I know it is a big decision but it seems like a no brainer to me. Thanks again.

someone has the extra figures.

5 years ago in the 80's I think $82 per point. (might have been higher)
10 years ago in the low 60's. $62.75 per point.

compare prices to what you are spending now on a WDW vacation. Since you are renting points already it might not work for you. but do the figures anyway.

now some people compare it to an investment. but I have money I spend on vacation and money I invest - two different places for me.

however if you want too

for the hotel rates go with
http://www.mousesavers.com/roomrates2007.html
take away $075 for a deluxe, $50 for moderate, and $25 for a value - recent discounts
taxes have increased to 12.5% for most WDW resorts, 13% for the all stars.
inflation - disney has increased their prices around 4.5 to 5.5% lately although have been know to increase 10% in one year. (one year they had two increases....) - so I would do this number at 6%

we bought in 2002 BWV at $66/pt resale and direct add-on BWV in 2003 at $72 a pt

Thank you all for your advice. I am going to buy BCV through The Timeshare Store.

Another question: I think my settlement date is Sept 13th, and then it will take 10 days to get into Disney's system, which doesn't matter because we already paid for our Sept 10-17th trip at the BEACH CLUB, but my question is when I finally get my points, will I be able to book for January or will everything be sold out. It really won't matter at that point where I stay, I just want to go.

Thanks again guys.

Since you are so flexible, you should be able to book a DVC room on points for January. However, you could have a problem if you are looking for something that coincides with Marathon weekend (Jan 7 & 8).

Best wishes -

Thank you. I wasn't sure when marathon week was scheduled. I was thinking more end of January to go because of the Princess and Pirates Party.

Spiceycat!

Awesome resources.

Especially like the Timshare calculator, it has already cost me my 'free' time for this week!

You rock!

I am one of the buy where you want to stay people.

I bought OKW because I loved the feel of the place while there are some who don't like OKW.

BCV IMHO is one of my least favorite resorts (other then its location) but many people love it.

You will utlimaly have to make the choice but at the end of the day look at it like this, they are boht DVC resorts at WDW, how could you go wrong with either?
