I'm curious if all you disneylovers get the same feedback I do. DH and I love vacationing in Disney. I've been about 4 times. We try to go every year or every other year. Just curious if you hear the same flack I do from friends or co-workers asking why do you all keep going back to the same place. That is stupid! blah, blah, blah. You know the usual. So I always get involved in this debate explaining why we like returning to Disney. We would rather spend our hard earned money returning to places we know we love. This way you are guaranteed a good time! I don't understand why people love to voice there opinion so much when they aren't paying for your vacation. So what we like to travel to Disney often. We enjoy it. I'm not complaining. DH says it's just jealousy. Just wondering if you all get the same feedback?

I hear the same thing from my friends and family. They don't understand why we want to visit the same place over and over. My fathers thinks been there done that don't need to go back, so he really doesn't understand. To me it is quality time with my family, my oldest DD is 16 and pretty soon she won't want to go to Disney as often, but for now I will go as much as I can. Hopefully this year includes a trip in June and one either in October or December. We like to try and go 3 times a year if vacation time and money permits. :Pinkbounc

I get this from family and friends!!! They don't understand why we want to go spend our money at the same place every vacation, blah blah
I just suck it up, roll my eyes:rolleyes: and say, your all just jealous because I have a personal relationship with a mouse, hehe!!!! ::MickeyMo

i get it all the time. the ironic thing is i'm from jersey and the majority of people go to the shore every summer. so what's the big deal? i mean a week at the jersey shore laying on the beach and going to the boardwalk or a week full of fantasty, adventure and pure disney magic??? i think my fam picks the right one and has for the past 18 years:earsgirl:

I hear it all the time too. If I think the person is really interested in hearing why we love going to WDW so much, then I'll sit down and talk to them about it. If I think they're just looking to put down our decision to vacation at WDW as much as possible, then I just laugh it off and keep going. That's about all you can do with people like that. I'm not going to convert them, and lord knows they're not going to convert me :p so I don't waste time worrying about it.

One thing that really helps me take it all in stride is knowing I can come here and find people who feel the same way I do!!

We just got back from WDW and already planning to go again in December. My mum asked me why don't I go somewhere else.

I told her that if she's willing to pay for my family's vacation to whicever places she suggested, then we'll be more than glad to go.

For the time being, WDW is the only thing we can afford (it's cheaper than going to Vancouver!)

I know a friend of mine works abroad and in a fairly anti-U.S. work environment, so they especially hate anything Disney-oriented. Whenever her co-workers ridicule her, or question her taste in vacation locations ("why do you go to Disneyworld every year?" "doesn't it get old?" "wouldn't you rather go somewhere new and exciting?", etc) she just comments on how they all go out and get drunk with each other every night. "Why do you go and get drunk every night?" "Doesn't it get old?" "Wouldn't you rather go somewhere new..." well, you get the idea. Works for her, because her co-workers are lushes.

I hear this all the time. There is this other teacher at my school who went to WDW for her honeymoon and hated it the whole time. I really think she kind of doesn't like me b/c I love Disney World. However, she's just one of those people who I bet is bored a lot. I can picture her just sitting in her hotel room waiting for WDW to bust down her door and MAKE her have fun. I suspect she's one of those people who can't make things fun on her own. If you are bored at WDW you have serious problems!:p

I get it all the time at work... my family already knows I love Disney. I just remind my coworkers that I don't ask them why they go to their cottages every weekend ;)

I haven't been 16 for 11 years and I never stopped wanting to go :teeth:

I get this too. Today my friend was calling me obsessed. People just don't get it. There are people I know who think Disney is boring.

I personally, don't understand why anyone would waste their $ to sit on a beach for 2 weeks ...that's just not fun to me.

To each their own I guess.

I absolutly get people who look at my funny because we love going to Disney so much. I then finding myself totally defending our decision as if I'm a trial. :(

Luckily, I have found many people that love Disney as much as us and go every year like us and that way I have somebody to talk to. :)

I have definitly come to the decision that with many people they are jealous of us and I don't know why. I think it's because they don't either have a favorite something to return to or they think we spend an enormous amount of money to go to Disney (sometimes we do and sometimes we don't). All I know, is we get great joy out of going to WDW every year and we will keep going for as long as we can.

I can not understand people who can't have fun at WDW. In fact, I feel kind of sad for them...

:jester:

EsmereldaX and friends,

I think that anyone who can't understand why we keep going back to Disney ... anyone who can't have fun there ... anyone who thinks WE have no imagination because we can't find someplace else to enjoy...

is in need of a frontal lobotomy. Right?

I too get this all the time. We love going to WDW, we can leave "real life" behind for a week and have fun.

and I thought i was the only one! wow, I am shocked!
we went in 99 for the first time and are hooked!!!

most of my family and friends think we are nuts too, however,
it is the cheapest of most of the vacations we want to do!!!
so we just keep going back!!

I think most of them are jealous and wondering how in the
world we can afford it so many times! they do not understand
the discounts and such...

maybe we should write a book on why and how you should
take a disney vacation every year!!:sunny:

But if those same people went skiing every year no one would say Oh, Are you going skiing again  " Im not sure why if you go to Disney every year and have a great time, why is it odd to then go back the next year for more good times??
One of my oldest told his dad (my x) we were going on vacation in June and his dad asking him if that was the only place we were ever go. This from a guy who never takes the kids anywhere  To top it off he has never even been to have a good time or a bad time.

Yep, me too. We just took our FIRST family vacation last month (DH and I had gone pre-kids). I'm now planning to take DD again next fall and I know everyone's talking about me. I try not to say anything around them (it's really hard) because they just give me that "look." I've been told, "but you were just there," "why waste your money, she won't remember it anyway," "don't you want to go somewhere different?" and on and on it goes. I told them that I would go back right now if I could, but nobody understands.

If finances permit, I would like to take DD every year or year and a half. I don't care if she remembers the specifics about the trips, it's the time spent together that matters to me. Besides, *I* will remember. When I'm old and gray and sitting in my rocking chair this is the stuff I will be thinking back on and smiling!

I have to admit that 20+ years ago, our neighbors took the same WDW vacation year after year. Made no sense to me..WHY would anyone want to do the same thing over and over when this country offers so many wonderful vacation opportunities? It wasn't jealousy, I just didn't understand it. But, once the Disney bug bites...you're hooked! DH and I are now empty nesters. DH is still working, but takes plenty of vacation time, so at least once a year I head to WDW to escape! Now MY family and friends are asking me that same question. Trouble is, many of them have been to WDW and they just don't get it....they just do not get it!

We used to go to the same area on Cape Cod every year. No one ever questioned that. Wonder why. But, now that we bought DVC some of our friends think we are certifiable!!! Some get it, but most don't. One friend even asks how we can go and spend so much money at a place that is so obviously make-believe and commercial, just set-up to take our money. Ho-hum. Talk about not getting it!! Now, however, I have a 10 y/o dd that is trying to decide whether or not she wants to get married in church!!! She really hopes she can find a man who will agree to get married in WDW!!! So very young to be such a fanatic!!

The only people I ever hear asking why I would to go disneyworld instead of this place or that, are people that have never been. I have only been once, and am going again at the end of April :p
