I Need To Make A Decision

I have posted a topic on this subject a few times. I really need a shove in a direction and I am at a standstill. We went to FW and stayed at the cabins Dec 2007. We WERE originally booked for The Poly but what made us change was the price difference. We fell in love with FW and vowed to stay there from now on. During our trip, though, my DH really liked the ease of the monorail and thought that we should give Poly a try (even though he is more of a FW/WL kind of guy). We are headed back down to WDW in Dec 2009. Currently I have The Poly booked. But I am still wondering if I should change it to FW. We are a family of 5 that needs their space. Although the rooms are usually just for sleeping and getting, I found that in addition to that we also use them for some much needed wind down time after the parks (no matter how late we get back) or midday relaxing. Since we only go every 2 years I am wondering if we should give something new a try (with the possibility of loving it or not liking it at all) or going back to the place that we love with our only regret being not having tried something new.

I am posting this on the camping board because even though you all love FW many of you have an open mind to try new things or have tried new things in the past. Many people on the regular resort boards do not like FW or at least not willing to give it a try.

Thanks so much

I like Fort Wilderness because if you do come back midday for a break the kids can still run around outside, they can't exactly run up and down the hallways at a resort. Plus, FW is just more peaceful...IMO

With a family of 5, I would think the FW cabins are definitely a better choice. I also find the cabins to be much quieter over hotels for sleeping and relaxing since no one is running the hallways, or making noise above, below or beside you. Yes the PR has the monorail to MK but FW has the boat to the MK.

We're a family of former Poly people converted to FW fans. It is the space that you get in the cabins that keeps us coming back, even over the Poly that we love so much.

We love the Fort because of all the activities. Once we were lucky enough to stay in a cabin and it was great, 2 TV's, bunkbeds, able to cook, bike ride, campfire and all the things to do. The buses and boats were fine and I would rather ride a boat then the monorail. It isn't much trouble to take a boat to Magic Kingdom and then get on a monorail to whereever you want to go. We have never stayed at Poly but I have visited there and stayed at other hotels. I can't imagine not staying in a cabin if you had the chance, I don't know where we could afford to again but it would be one of my first choices. I think in the off season we will be there more at least have a campsite.

We are a family of 6, so I prefer the Fort over pretty much anything else. Having 4 rambuncious kids- letting them having places to run off energy and let loose is priceless to me. I've never stayed at any of the WDW resorts except the Fort, but have had the kids in many hotels- I'll take the Fort every time! :thumbsup2 The kids love the boat ride over to Magic Kingdom, and downtime is much easier to occupy them when they have so many other activities to do!!!!

This will be our first trip to the fort and 1 of the MANY reasons I did pick the fort is because the cabins have a seperate bedroom where we can stick the kids and do whatever DH and I please when they go to bed and not worry about waking them up, same goes at nap time, since they both usually still nap. But I do love camping anyway. :hippie:
