Help:worship: !! I really want to have navy blue and silver for my wedding colors, but I am stuck on what color to choose for flowers.:flower1: I just can't picture what would look good. White seems like it may be too boring, and red seems a little "uncle sam". Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sarah

I always like white or ivory flowers, particularly against dark dresses or decorations, because they really seem to "pop". I don't know if that's unhelpful, since you're leaning away from those colors, but they get my vote!

Hi Sarah :)

I personally think all flower colors are beautiful :flower3:

But in my honest opinion, I think you should look at the colors of your reception place and choose colors that compliment the spot. DH and I are having our reception at the GF ballrooms. We took a lot of time studying the room and noted that the walls are a muted salmon color and the chairs are similar color. Fortunately, my fave color is pink and his is orange,so we chose a lot of peaches, golds, oranges, pinks and hints of brown, which all go perfectly with the room. Our flower centerpieces are gold candelabras with peach-colored flowers. We also have some large arrangements that are pink cherry blossoms in tall brown vases next to our head table, and our unity arrangement which will be moved to the ballroom after the ceremony has pink flowers, peach flowers, and white flowers. Because the chairs were nice, AND also matched our color scheme, we chose not to cover them which saved a lot of money ($8.50 minimum a person!!).

But if we had done our reception say, at the Yacht Club ballrooms, I probably would have chosen a bit differently because there are a lot of nice teals and blues in the room, with some nautical themes.

I just think that choosing colors that compliment your location somewhat give you a lot of bang for your buck in the end because you end up with a setting that looks well planned out and well thought out, and you don't end up with centerpieces or accessories that are competing with the setting :groom:

Hope that helps! Not sure if you were talking about colors in general or specifically flower colors though :artist:

Thanks for the answers ladies:thumbsup2

Carly- I keep coming back to white/ivory colors too! I think I may end up doing that. The only problem I have w/ ivory flowers is that I want petals down the aisle at SBP I just wonder if they won't stand out enough.

Globaldiva- That is great advice, but we are not having a reception just an escape ceremony. So I am basically looking for a color for MOH to have, and petals for the aisle, maybe a few other minor details.

I would go for darker coloured flowers with lots of greenery for a dramatic look (Black Calla Lillies in Particular are beautiful!) but for a brighter look, I'd consider maybe mid-pink/purpley colours, nothing too bright though or it may look too much against the darker colours....

What type of flowers did she use that were dark blue? I'm not normally a fan of blue flowers, but if they were dark blue I would probably really like them. That would add an element of color instead of plain white.

In that case, navy blue is awesome and flattering!!! :p

Those are my colors too!

I am looking at Hydrangea and Iris and keeping fingers crossed for blue roses (my fav!)

The good thing about hydrangea is that they are big and fairly inexpensive.

Dark blue flowers like delphinia's are beautiful. I used fake flowers for financial and practical reasons. My BM's and my dress all had dark blue

We are doing the very dark blue as well with silver. I love pink and I wanted a way to incorporate it so we are doing light blush pink flowers. Here is a pic of the dresses and the flowers that the BM's will carry! Also the centerpieces will have the pink roses and I am using pink for my side of the sand ceremony. Good Luck!

Mindy: I like the way the flowers looked with the dark blue and white together, also your jewlery was beautiful.

Disneymagic: I think this is another great idea. The blush is very pretty and not just plain white.

Thanks for all the great suggestions and photos.

I had started with a blue and white scheme and this is what we ended up with!! Not exactly close...except maybe my bouquet.

My bouquet...the yellowish ones were supposed to be more green and the white roses were already brown when I got them.

Bridesmaids...Not sure where these even came from as I never ever mentioned lavender roses and they didn't really match anything, but were really pretty with the heather and thistles.

Centrepieces had these Mums (Spider Mums?) in bright colours and were dipped in glitter...looked like fireworks...so different and so cool. LOVED THEM.

We had two of these on the table at the ceremony outside on the beach, so they look a little wilted. They added the light up stars for the reception.
