My little baby boy is getting married this summer and he told me that I need to pick a song for he and I to dance to at the reception. I have had one good suggestion but let me hear your suggestions...

Forever Young by Rod Stewart

Congrat's to you all! I wouldn't let him get out of the song choice that easily, lol. It would mean more if you BOTH chose it, maybe?

Good Golly Miss Molly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol CarrieAnne is going to be a hot mess~ that was insane!

OOPS! That was meant for the DWTS thread...lol

There was a thread about this not too long ago. If you Google, you can find lists of songs. Find something special to you two. My son and I danced to the Jason Mraz version of Rainbow Connection. (I wanted to do a waltz,)

Did he have a favorite Disney movie when he was a little kid, maybe you could take a fun song from that and you two dance remembering when he was your little boy

do you guys want slow~fast? Did you have a song you sang to him when he was little? How about a jam you would rock out to in the car? I am not one for "traditional/typical" ~ would go with what hit home to my kid and me, and probably upbeat as my son would be hopefully having one of the best days of his life and would be happy as heck :goodvibes

Honestly, Forever Young is the best in my opinion. I never really paid attention to the words until my cousin's husband danced with his mom to it. Now I can't listen to the song without crying. The words are so very true and beautiful for a parent to a child.

DD used Forever Young at her wedding for the father/daughter dance but the version by Audra Mae and The Forest Rangers. Check it out--it's beautiful.

That was my choice also

I like Forever Young :goodvibes

I can't help but also say A Song For My Son. Only because Mikki Viereck is the minister who officiated my wedding

Well, don't do what someone else did......we knew the groom and the brides family didn't really care for him (or the mom didn't) so the first song played was, "Every Step you take, I'll be watching you."

My favorite ones for these kinds of dances are "In My Life" by The Beatles and "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac. Love the lyrics in both.

OP-when I had to find a song last year I searched on The Knot(a great wedding site)
I found LOTS of great song ideas

I went with Billy Joel's "just the way you are"

My son is getting married next April, I am trying to find something that will not make me a blubbering idiot.

When my daughter got married in 08, she chose " I Loved her First" to dance with her dad. The first time I heard it I knew I would be a mess. I listened to it a million times before the wedding to get over it, it didn't work.
So I am not too hopeful for this dance either.
