We are going to be eating at the following in March and I just wanted to know what they are.

Biergarten (Dinner)
Crystal Palace (Lunch)
Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian (including Slipper Dessert for two)

And either

Boma, Jiko or Mama Melrose (Dinner) (not sure which one to do)

1. Biergarten -- we were not impressed and this was probably our least favorite dinner.

2. Crystal Palace -- we went for dinner and it was wonderful -- the food was the best buffet we had (except for Boma) and the characters were fun.

3. Boma -- my personal favorite -- I experimented with many foods I had never even heard of and I had a fabulous meal.

Good Luck!

Beirgarten, if you love German food this is the place to be! The selection is out of this world and the apple strudel is the best ever!

We always go to the Crystal Palace for dinner not lunch but the dinner is great! The Adobe Pork and sauteed veggies are wonderful!

Loved Afternoon tea at GF and both Boma and Jiko for dinner. Crystal Palace was a huge disappointment for dinner...cannot comment on lunch.

You can do a search and find my thread about Biergarten, we just went there Dec. 2nd as part of the CP package. The thread is entitled, Biergarten- Never Again. I guess that would sum up our familys opinion on the restraunt. We love Crystal Palace, I did a little review about that and we have only done Boma once. That is o.k. if you are adventourous and like to try new things and spicy things etc. Different flavor combinations, coconut curry, etc.

We've only eaten at The Crystal Palace. It was awesome. The characters were great and the food great. The only place we liked better for Buffet's was Chef Mickey's, but its really a toss up between the 2.

Out of Boma, Jiko, and Mama Melrose's my favorite was. . . Boma. :flower: And I don't even like buffets, Boma is an exception, so is Crystal Palace, but anway. I also enjoyed Mama Melrose's, (excellant flatbread,) but Boma has a huge selection. I could of made a meal of the crab soup, the butternut squash soup, chocolate mousse crunches, zebra domes, and coconut tiramisu alone. Also, money wise, it's the best deal.

Boma - $25
Mama Melrose's - $30 (Fantasmic Package w/ Soda)
Jiko - $40

This is a close estimate, and was the price before taxes, and tips. I find Jiko to be a little over rated, but Jiko, (out of all 15 TS restraunts I ate at this past trip,) did have the best service. I'm giving it another try next trip, as well as returning to Boma and Mama Melrose's.

Of the ones on your list, I have only been to Biergarten. We loved it! We booked it with the CP package last year. We chose it because it was in the cheapest tier and closer to the American Gardens theatre than Garden Grill. I'm a vegetarian, and with all the meats and heavy dishes I'd heard about, I wasn't expecting to find enough to eat, much less like it. I was very pleasantly surprised. Not only was there plenty for me to eat, everything I tried was really good! I'm not big on sauerkraut-type foods, but there are lots of dishes on the buffet that were nothing like that.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere too.

Biergarten...NEVER again..absolutely inedible.
Boma-exotic but fun (I'm a picky eater, ate almost nothing, but everyone else really liked it)
CP-breakfast was great, never been for lunch or dinner though.

I've been to all 3 and my favorite is Jikos. We went there a few weeks ago, and I had the halibut and sweet potato crispies. Usually I'm the last one done eating, but it was so good I think I inhaled it! DH was amazed at how quickly I ate. He had the pork tenderloin and DMIL had the short ribs. DH just "liked" his pork, but DMIL loved her short ribs, and when DH tasted them, he said he'd get those next time! We all shared an appetizer, not sure what it was called-Taste of Africa?-it was really good. A little of everything.

Biergarten (Dinner) We have always enjoyed our experience here. This is a must do for my dad. While there are some dishes that I dont like there are many that I do, and that is the wonderful part of a buffet! You do sit at tables potentially with other guests, but we always found that fun.

Crystal Palace (Lunch) Just did this in October, the food was good, the service was great. The character interaction was not quite as good as Chef Mickeys (some seemed a little rushed), but we had an enjoyable experience and it was nice and convenient as we were in MK that day.

Mama Melrose I havent eaten at your other two options here, but we had a very good LUNCH here on our honeymoon. I remember thinking it was a pretty good value for the money as we were able to share a pizza and have plenty for the both of us. We had good service and great food.

We have eaten at some of those restaurants. My thoughts:

Crystal Palace (we did dinner, rather than lunch): food very good and character interaction fun. We were there with my niece and nephew who had never been to a character meal before and their reactions alone made this meal worth it. The kids (4 of them, ages 13, 9, 6 and 4) loved having their own buffet, but a couple got food off the "grown up" buffet too.

Boma: food was awesome; service was lacking. I know it is a buffet, but having to ask any CM who walks by the table to find our waiter is not cool. I would have liked to have tasted more, but we had eaten at CP the night before and had a very stressful day the day we ate at Boma (DD1 is epileptic, and despite medication, she had a major seizure that day which turns our world on its ear!). I would like to try this restaurant again when I am hungrier and less stressed!

Jiko was fantastic. DH and I loved it and our daughters had a great time thanks to a an awesome CM. I would highly recommed Jiko to anyone, but I will say this. If you are on the dining plan, Jiko is a 2 TS credit restaurant where your other two thoughts are 1 TS credit places.

While Biergarten would not be one of my personal choices (German food is just too heavy for me), I don't think you can go wrong with any of your choices.

Have a great trip!

A vote for BOMA --

A wide variety of foods with great flavors to try. It is a must for us each year. There is "plain" food there also. But it is great -- you can take a little bit of a lot of different things, see what you like and go back and get more.... I don't like all of it... but I like being able to try the different tastes without having to pick one entree (Jiko). The soups are awesome.

Biergarten is okay german food.

We were at WDW in November 05--my DH loves German food and we hated the Biergarten--even the kids had trouble finding something edible on the buffet. If you want to eat at Epcot, try the Garden Grill, which the kids loved. I've never eaten anywhere else in the World Showcase, but I understand that there are lots of good restaurants there.

Biergarten was probably the worst dining experience we have had in all the years we have been going to WDW. Food was bad. Service was adequate nothing special. The restaurant seamed to be very dirty. We were seated at the end of a table with a large group and we felt like we were intruding on their dinner. The end of our table was right on the aisle so waiters and guests were constantly walking by.

Crystal Palace was alot of fun. Food was OK by buffet standards but the restaurant itself is beutiful and the Characters were great. We will be eating there again on this trip - we'll be there for breakfast on Christmas morning.

Boma is probably one of our favorite places to eat. Food is great. Let me repeat "food is great". But you have to be adventurous and like to try new things. Our experience with the servers was wonderful. We will be there this Saturday night at 7:15 and we are now counting down the hours.

If you are looking for an alternate at Epcot to Biergarten, may I suggest Marrakesh.

We have done lunch at Cryatal Palace many times and I have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and the Crystal Palace itself is beautiful inside. I always take a pic in front og the Tigger topiary :goodvibes Character interaction has always been really good too.

Jiko is on my "to try" list and I probably won't try Mama Melrose until I've run out of other places because I really like Olive Garden.

But we love Boma! A must-do for every trip. I love the variety of unique foods. Everything tastes fresh and wonderful. And the atmosphere at AKL is the best.

Just had dinner at Jikos last Thursday when the Poly Luau got cancelled due to rain. We were able to get a last minute reservation, got lost on the way there and were 40 minutes late, but were still seated promptly. I had the scallops and DH had the lamb shank. Very tasty & well worth the dining plan, LOL.
