If you have 8 full days in the Orlando area and have never been there before, what is a good way to end your vacation on the last day? Any ideas anyone?

Are you going to Disney? Are you traveling with children? We always started our trip and ended our trip with the Magic Kingdom. The castle this year is amazing, it has been transformed into a golden wonder. Leaving main street on your last day and having your picture taken is great. Also, I would highly suggest if you have children to have your last character breakfast at Chef Mickeys in the Contemporary resort. The characters are Chef Mickey (dressed like the Iron Chef), Minnie, Chip and Dale, Pluto and Goofy. They spend alot of time with you because the restaurant is fairly small. The food is fun and the atmosphere is hopping. The monorail goes right through the resort and you can see it from your seating area. They also have a dance and song they do throughout the breakfast time. :cheer2: :cheer2:

There are 4 in our party. 2 kids, a girl age 16 and a boy age 9, then my wife and myself. Is chef Mickey's fitting for children that age? I have reservations at Ohana's character breakfast but its not on the last day we are there. Keep in mind we have never been to Disney before so I don't know what to expect.

Thanks for the CM idea, and having the monarail out the window sounds sorta neat. Please keep the ideas coming!

Other ideas that I've had so far from another Disney board are as follows;

(1.) Fireworks boat ride- I have one booked (for Wishes) but not on the last day, it happens to be the first day since that was all I could get. Hard to get almost as hard as booking a PS at Cinderella's Royal table in the last couple of weeks before you want to go.

(2.) Hoop-De-Doo musical reveiw and a carriage ride. The carriage ride part was actually my wifes idea.

I have a 15 year old, 10 year old and 4 year old. I am 40 and my husband is 41. We all love Chef Mickey! If your kids are fun then they will love it. I like it because all of the original characters (except for Donald are there). If you can get a room at the Contemporary I would suggest it. That was our first time in the Tower and it was amazing! The carriage ride sounds great. Ohanas is nice to, we have stayed at the Poly but never dined there. I still think Chef Mickeys is a better choice based on others opinions about Ohanas. But you need to call now, even if your not sure. You are not penalized for cancellations. I would not bother with Cinderellas castle unless your teens are very princess driven. The food is good but not worth the money to me. Also, Cinderellabration can be missed in my opinion. Your children would have loved Cinderellas surprise show, but they have replaced it with this new one and it is not good at all. I kept looking at my watch and noticed my children (who are all girls) looking around and wanting to go. Spectromagic is a must see. You get the chills and definitely the disney spirit when you see this. Try to get a seat in front of the castle. I would love to give you all kinds of ideas about getting around Disney. My friends are there right now for the 2nd time and I gave them a heads up on getting around quickly and with less time in line. Epcots Japanese res. is a must. Mama Melrose at MGM is awesome the food gets better all the way to dessert. Fantasmic! Lion King Festival! I am excited that you are all going and I dont even know you. Have fun. Dont forget to call for Chef Mickey right away.

Chef Mickey is ALL booked up :confused3 . I'll keep tying though. Thanks for the advice.

The Contemporary really sounds like the ideal location to stay at but I have a standard room at Pop Century for $59 a night, I booked that quite a while ago. I have an air matress to sleep on incase the bed is too uncomfortable and small for 2 adults. I'm just hoping there is enough floor space to lay an airmatress on :cold: . From the reveiws I read on Pop Century it sounds like the rooms are about the size of a can of saradines but the walls are thinner than the metal can that the fish are packed into . :magnify:

This trip, we ended our stay with lunch at Whispering Canyon. Other times, we have ended with a late breakfast at CP.

We have stayed at everything from value to deluxe since we have been going to Disney. I have always slept well. You will not have room for an air mattress, but as long as there are only 2 people per bed you will be fine. There is probably about 215 sq. feet in the value if I recall correctly. A really good website to go to is Allears.net. It will give you tons of info on resorts, planning, restaurants (including menus) and rehabs and fun stuff. I also get great discount rooms from there. We were able to get the Dolphin for 169.00 (it is regulary 300.00 this time of year). We cancelled and went with the Cont. at the last minute though. The Port Orleans Riverside is another great resort you can get 2 double beds plus a trundle bed gives you another option for extra room. Try Chef Mickeys 2 days, 1 day and then the day you want to go. People are always cancelling because of change of park schedule.

How about dessert at Cinderella's Royal Table at the Castle? We did this on our May trip and we felt so relaxed and it would be a great ending to your trip.

Don't be too worried about Pop Century. We stayed there in March and are staying there again in September. The rooms are a standard size - not roomy, but you will not be in them that much. The beds were very comfortable, but the pillows were too thick, so I was glad I brought my own. The food court was good, and everything was super clean. Only heard a faint "flushing" from our neighbors, not loud at all, AND I was there the week after Easter. Bus service was excellent.

We always go to DTD on our last night for a nice dinner and shopping. Not too exciting, though.

Have fun!
