I am very heat intolerant. The current diagnosis is fobromyalgia, but Im not sure that's the whole story. Unfortunately it seems to get a little worse every year. We no longer go to WDW during the summer, even though it is less expensive then, and we could stay longer. We now go Christmas/New Years. It would be nice to go during the summer again.
I drive a school bus, and our buses do not have a/c. I am so miserable during the warmer months. When it is warm out, my bus tends to stay about 10 degrees hotter than outside. So if it's 78 outside, which isn't too bad, it is probably 85-90 on my bus. I hydrate, use fans, frogg toggs etc. I would love to find something better.
I have been reading about cooling vests. I know some of you have some experience with them. How much do they really help? These vests are expensive, so I wouldn't buy one unless they help a lot. Which is better, the ice vests, or the phase change vests? I know you can recharge the phase change ones quickly with ice water, but I want to know which ones keeps you cool the best. Also, are they comfortable when you first put them on, or do you feel really cold at first? Most of the websites seem to say you get 2-3 hours on average, is that realistic?
I've also seen neck cloths that are similar to the vests. Are they any good? Doesn't seem like it would be a large enough area to make a significant difference. I have frogg toggs, which are better than nothing, but don't do as much as I would like. There are also these things they call vests, but are really more of a wide belt. They basically wrap around your middle like a belt, but are 5 or 6 inches high. You put the ice packets in them. Does anybody have any experience with those?
I would really appreciate any info or insight. I would hate to spend that much money and be disappointed.
