So as some of you know, I was away with school for a competition this week. And some ... stuff happened.

OK so the chaperones found alcohol in my room. There was an incident in the hotel where some girls had to get their stomachs pumped from drinking so they cracked down and checked all rooms.

I was in a room with all seniors (i'm a sophmore) and the seniors decided to drink. I however, did not. But since the drinks were found in my room, i'm a "suspect." I tried to approach the teacher and tell her that I had no involvement but she said that she could really care less and that administration will handle it on Monday. I have no clue if they are just gonna hand out straight suspension with no questions asked or if we are gonna be able to explain ourselves. The kids who got caught said they're gonna tell the principals that I had no part but I have no clue if admin will belive that.

I had a feeling that there was alcohol in the room but didn't want to be the rat and let someone know.

I'm in a really bad situation right now..
What would you do?

I would just tell my side of the story and hope for the best. There's really nothing else that can be done. Hopefully the seniors will back you up.

Sounds like a tough situation, Tom.

I'd let my parents know that I was not drinking.
Then I'd let my administrator know. Speak up for yourself. They wont just hand out suspensions without hearing the full story, and if they do, have your parents go in with you to explain it.

You shouldnt get in trouble for that.

I agree with Lexi, tell your parents FIRMLY that you weren't drinking. If you need to, bring them in to talk to admin. and back you up. With parental support, they shouldn't be able to suspend you (especially with no solid proof that you were or were not drinking)

Tell your parents and tell the administration that you were NOT drinking!

Do you normally not drink? Do you have friends that can attest to that if it comes to that?

Do not let them suspend you for something that you had no part in.

I told my mom the second they announced that we were going to be having a meeting.

No, I do not drink, never have, so my parents have no reason to suspect I did. I told them I didn't already.

I'm really ticked at the teacher. She was extremely rude and unapproachable during this.

I'm amazed you they're not holding you guilty by association. At my school, if you're caught with people doing something like that you're automatically suspended too, because it's like you're condoning their behaviour.
In this case, I wouldn't be surprised if my principal would expel all of you.
I'm just saying.

No advice sorry, that was probably not good of me to post ^^''

Honestly, if they expelled me for guilty by association and I didn't know there was alcohol in the room I would fight it. I'd be writing the paper, going to the school board meetings, whatever to get my point heard. If I KNEW for sure there was alcohol in the room and did nothing then it would be different.

If its the principle is handing out the punishments just go over his head right to the school board, they will let you plead your case one way or another. Im just surprised the police did not get involved and slap underage drinking charges so feel thankful for that at the least. If the schools punishing you I wouldnt worry to much they will let you plead your case.

Yeah I'd probably throw a fit of some form.
Knowing my parents tho, they'd just tell me to get over it and find another school. It's annoying then they tell me to 'just get over it' but no point in arguing with them.

As of now, I am guilty by assosciation. But they didn't catch the kids drinking, just alcohol in the room.

I will, if this happens.

Well they technically didn't catch any kids drinking so those charges are not vaild, for now.

Lol.

OK so everything has been cleared up.

Yesterday admin called down all the seniors first, and they told them that I had no part in it.

They got 5 days out of school supspension, and in addition some of them don't get to go to prom, etc.

Taking away prom is a big deal but then again it isnt, they probably still get what they want to do and thats the after party. And they cant stop them from that.

Yeah but I guess its a big deal for kids that wanted to go.

I'm glad it all worked out!
