We are going to do the Illuminations Cruise our first night. We are meeting some family and going to have supper with them. Since we leave from the Yacht Club, I told them to park there. However, I think we want to eat at the Boardwalk. We've only been to the Boardwalk once, and then we didn't do much there. So, I'm not familiar with those areas at all.

First of all, how far is the Yacht Club from the Boardwalk? Will they have to take a bus to the Boardwalk? Is it walking distance? Second, where is a good place to meet them? And, lastly, is there a good place to eat there that is quick and not overly expensive, Disney standards?

Thanks.

The Boardwalk, Yacht Club, and Beach Club all face Crescent Lake. It is very close to 0.9 miles around the lake, and from the lobby of the Yacht Club to the lobby of the Boardwalk is a bit less than 1/2 of a mile. Do not try to take the bus, it circulates around all 3 resorts before heading off to the MK or AK. The walk is very lovely and relaxing.

Almost any place to meet will do, as long as you specify the detail, and not just say "on the Boardwalk." In front of a particular restaurant, for example, of by the grass and garden area behind the lobby.

The restaurants vary quite a bit. Flying fish is very good, but also pricey. The ESPN Club isn't expensive, and would be fast (if you're there at a slow time). Spoodles is in the middle, good food, not too expensive. There is also a Brew Pub, but I've never eaten there.

Good luck.

It's an easy walk from the Yacht Club to the Boardwalk- maybe 5 minutes.

There are a number of good places to eat on the Boardwalk- Big River Grille for things like burgers and salads, Spoodles, Flying Fish for something nicer, ESPN club for sports bar food...

Any of those restaurants would be a good place to meet them. Or you could meet at the entrance to the Boardwalk pier- it's right in the middle of the Boardwalk, and there are several benches in the area.

Do you know where you'll be meeting for your Illuminations Cruise? They could pick you up from either the Boardwalk pier or the Yacht/Beach club pier...

The Yacht Club is across the lake from the Boardwalk, maybe a five minute walk, ten minutes tops.
I'm sure others can give advice for inexpensive food, but ESPN Club comes to my mind. My DS and I ate there this past June and it was pretty good food.

Thanks for the tips on places to meet. Maybe the entrance to the Boardwalk is a good place. I don't know what we will be doing. I just don't know the Boardwalk good enough at all to even tell them where to meet us.

I was told we'd be picked up at the Yacht Club. Is it possible to have them pick us up at the Boardwalk?

The regular Epcot boat stops at Yacht Club then Boardwalk if they didn't want to walk over to Boardwalk.

We ate at ESPN and Big River Grill earlier this month. Both were good but if I had to pick one, I'd choose ESPN.

As far as changing your cruise pickup, you could ask but I think boats have designated docks.

You can take the boat across the lake from the pier at the YC/BC.

I am not sure how pricey but the Big River Grille is at the Boardwalk also. I am sure it is about the same as the ESPN Club.

Also there is Tubbies Buffeteria at the Dolphin which is right next to the YC; very inexpensive in Disney terms. Decent food too (cold/hot sandwiches, hot meals, salads) cafeteria style.

If everyones in the mood for burgers or chicken sandwiches you could eat at Beaches n Cream.

Hope this helps.

that we love the Epcot Resort area so much - everything is right outside your door. We stay at YC/BC for most of our trips and we love all the dining and entertainment options. Are they parking at YC? You could meet in the lobby OR if they park at the Boardwalk you could meet at the area right outside Flying Fish Cafe which is sort of centrally located. When they come to the Boardwalk Resort they'll walk down these steps to the Boardwalk area - there's a courtyard you'll see Flying Fish. You might want to have them park there instead of the YC because they give you a pass when you visit another resort now with a time limit as to how long you can stay parked there BUT they don't do it at the Boardwalk since so many people visit the area for the evening. Kind of different from the other resorts.

Inexpensive eating options? Hmmmmm. You know, Beaches & Cream at YC/BC is fun. It's a soda shop mentality and loud but good food and a good price. But, you may want something nicer before the Illuminations cruise. We've eaten at Flying Fish (loved it), Yachstman Steakhouse (love it!) but those aren't inexpensive options. There is the Big River Grille and Brew on the Boardwalk and it's inexpensive BUT we thought the food was horrible. I would much prefer Beaches & Cream if I were going for inexpensive. There are restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin. There is ESPN, although I think that'll be loud and obnoxious. Never tried.

You're lucky to be going on the Illluminations cruise - have a great time. I might be too excited to eat if I were you.

Ill second(or third) Beaches & Cream. We tried it for the first time last week and we will definitely be going back. The burger was great and DH had a French Dip that was very good too. We were impressed.

ESPN is another one of our favorites. We dined there 2x last week and had no complaints.

Both places are reasonably priced.

I 2nd Pam's opinion of Big River Grille. YUCK! I ordered a cheeseburger there in September. I sent the first one back because it was charred beyond recognition. The 2nd one came, looking exactly the same. It really looked like a lump of coal on a bun with a slice of cheese. The service was nothing to write home about either.

I concur with others' opinions on Big River-horrid.

Spoodles was great and I think a good value. For a less expensive option,I think they have a pizza window and a few outside tables.

We enjoyed the pasta dishes at Spoodles, and ordered 3 dishes for 4 adults. We had a nice variety and PLENTY of food.

Another Spoodles fan here. It's not cheap, but not way expensive either. I didn't think my 12 year old would like it much, but it turned out to be his favority restaurant in WDW. We ended up sharing a variety of appetizers. Yummmm. The staff there was exceptional! It's also centrally located.

As for getting from the Y&BC to the Boardwalk, you might watch to see if the boat is coming from the Swan and Dolphin. If so, wait for it. It's also an option if your feet are tiring out. Otherwise, enjoy a lovely stroll aroung the lake. If you're going to the center of the Boardwalk (BWI, Spoodles, Flying Fish), then I don't think there's much difference in distance whether you walk via S&D or along the Epcot side.
