Hello ladies, (and a few gentlemen)

A friend of mine suggested that I make some premade layouts and sell them on Ebay. Well, I went a little further and made a whole album, a Disney Cruise Album actually.

I have bought a few things from Ebay but I have never sold anything so I am not sure how much to list this album for or if it will even get bids. I have put about 10 hours into it and the materials including the album were about $100 CDN.

Should I list it at $100 so that I at least get back what I invested in it??

How long should I list it for?

I am new at this so any advice would be very much appreciated!

Help! :teeth: please

Here's photos of the album:

Wow what a great album. I bought an album last year. I think about a 5x7 style for about $40 made up for father's Day. It is nice to just put the pictures in pages already done. Have you tried a search on ebay for albums already made? That might give you a judgement on cost and if they sell. If I hadn't already completed my cruise album I would have been interested in something like that!

Good luck
Angela

mantaz,

Yes, I researched premade albums on ebay and really, I only found a few of them. All were 6x6 albums, with maybe 6 full layouts. They had no bids but weren't all that spectacular either. There were a lot of layouts only for bid and they were from $5 to $107!! So, it's hard to say since there's nothing close to really compare it with.

I guess I will start it at $100 CDN and at least I will recoup my costs. :flower:

I don't have a clue if you can do this are not, but can you also let the people over on the cruise board know about it. Hey if you can maybe you would get more bids.

or post the link here and someone from here will non-chalantly post it on the cruise board....

a "hey, you'll never believe what i saw on ebay" sorta thing! ;)

LOVELY album....but then again, I've always loved looking at your albums!

:cool1: great idea!

:goodvibes

thanks!

I will attempt to list it tonight when I get home! I will post to this thread when I do!

What the heck right? The worst thing that can happen is no one will bid on it and I already have a finished album for my next Eastern DCL cruise

Wow, what a great album. And I think that is so smart doing the whole thing and not just a few pages. Well, if you can make some money selling it, that is, which I am sure you will. Let us know how it turns out!

You did all that in only 10 hours! Wow! Good luck selling it, I'm sure it will do well. Couldn't tell exactly, is it a 12 x 12?

I'd definitely list it at more than $100... By the way, it is a gorgeous album.. I'd probably figure out a cost per page including your profit. You can always set a minimum bid. I start out high then, lower if you need to if you don't get any bids. My dh sells tons of boy scout patches on e-bay.. He'll list them at what he thinks it should sell for and if it doesn't he waits a month of so before re-listing... For example, $7 to $10 per page doesn't seem too unreasonable to me. So, that would net you $140.00 if only the minimum bid is met. I would hate for you to only sell it for $100 especially since you put in 10 hours of work. JMHO...

Here's another idea. Have you thought about making color copies of the originals and selling the copies as sets? You may not get as much for a set of copies, but I would think that they would sell that way too...That way maybe you could make a better return on them by selling several sets of copies. :confused3

I don't even know if you can get 12x12 color copies (like at Kinkos or someplace like that.) And I don't know how much they would cost...but I would say that if they were good quality copies, they would be like the premade sheets you get at the craft stores and memory stores.

Like I said, I'm not sure if it would work, and how you would work it, and I know that I didn't help answer you original question, but that would be something to think about maybe. :)

Edited to add: It's beautiful, by the way! And that's the reason that I think that if you "mass-produced" it, it would definitely sell!!! I LOVE it!! ::yes::

Thanks for all the replies guys! I just listed it on ebay

As this is my first item I have listed on ebay, I just decided to start at $89 US and see what happens. If I only get one bid for $89 well then I won't be doing another album. If it goes well, I may do some more albums, who knows?

Thanks for the tips and advice! MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!!!!

I will let you know what happens in 7 days :flower:

Christal,

Actually, my husband mentioned something about mass producing them LOL :rotfl:

I don't think the colour copies would sell for much, they just don't have the same dimension and feel to them.

I am a pretty fast scrapper though, so if this pans out, I can make a lot of different kinds of albums maybe

Man, could you imagine scrapping...as a job!!!!!!!!! Wooooo!! :cool1:

Even though I knew I was making the album to sell it, I had a great time! I really enjoyed spending 10 hours on just scrapping!

Timon... :goodvibes Great album...Found it listed over on the Cruise board :rotfl: ....anyway I have a quick question on how you did the fish on the "our stateroom board" ....It's so cute....and is just like the message holders. Do tell...

anyway I have a quick question on how you did the fish on the "our stateroom board" .

I printed off a photo and cropped it then lacquered it :teeth:

If you make money on this one think about making one for those of us West Coast Cruisers. We need some too.

Very nice album. Wow. I think you should post more of your stuff so I can make my album look better. :rotfl: You are talented! It should sell.

Cass

What incredible pages. Good luck with your ebay auction.

Wow, those layouts are fantastic!

If I had been on a Disney Cruise I'd buy it!

You are very talented. You could easily make a business out of it!

Maybe you could sell 2 page layouts at a time. Instead of a whole book.
If you do any more pages/books let me know!
