My DS3 started daycare today and i'm a nervous wreck. :( Technically it's not his first daycare. I was assistant director at a center and was there for 8 years. It was bought by other people and i found another job and my son and i got out of there!! (DID NOT LIKE NEW OWNERS!!) Started my new job in May and DS went to a woman's house that i know and stayed with her. That eventually did not work out, and we started putting his name on waiting lists. Well his name came up and TODAY is his first day. He was fine when i left, but i am a nervous wreck!! How about you guys give me some positive stories about your children's daycares.

NOTHING NEGATIVE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, if you worked at a center for 8 years, surely you can remember the wonderful care you and others gave to the kids. :)
Call and see how he's doing.

We had a wonderful loving daycare experience. DD(now alomst 12) was nine months old when she began - I had a six month maternity leave and then a three month sitter over the summer before she began daycare in the fall. She loved "baby school", as we called it (because there were so many babies there!) We saw one of her old teachers at a stoplight the other day - I made a fool out of myself hollering "Miss Maureen!!!!!" out of my car window!!! If you have a good feeling about the center and see positive interaction between the teachers and the children, everything will be fine. Remember that teachers occasionally get tired and chidlren sometimes misbehave, and that there will be a few bumps along the way, but your child is in a good situation and will be loved and well cared for.

That's as positive as I can be this morning!!!

My oldest son was able to overcome his separation anxiety by being in daycare. He also learned alot about sharing, which came in handy when his brother and sister came along. He also bonded with his teachers alot, and they even came to his birthday party. I worked in daycare for a few years and I know firsthand how little those people make, so I was always trying to do little things for them and gave them gift certificates for Christmas. It really meant alot to them. My son went to daycare from the time he was 15 months till he was almost 3.

Let's just say the center i worked at was not very structured. My MIL owned it and i tried to change things, but never could get her to understand what needed to be done. She was in her own little office and did paperwork all day. So without going into detail, some of the people there were loud, lazy and didn't do their job, but there was nothing i could do about it. NOt gonna get into that story cause it's negative!!

For sure i will be calling. I have friends who take their kids there and one of my friends is gonna peek in on DS when she drops her DD off. She should be calling me any minute...........

My dd started daycare at 3 and we had great experiences. She learned valuable social skills and was definitely and enriching experience for her. Three years after leaving daycare, she wants to go and visit but I don't have the heart to do it because she probably wouldn't know anyone.

Ive been fortunate to never have to put my kids in DayCare - BUT , I will say I use to do daycare, and loved those kids I watched, like my own. I took them everywhere with me, just lkike my own - and really honestly LOVED them (and miss them, and think of them - even still today)

SO, if you have a *good* feeling about whom you left him with - Im sure he is also, doing good! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Is this a center or a person's home?

I don't have anything negative to say either way anyway, as I think day care benefited both of my kids! My son was in a home from the age of 6 weeks to the age of 3 when he went to a pre-school. My DD went to pre-school at around age 4 or 5.

They both loved it. :goodvibes

My DNiece goes to a babysitter/daycare in the women's home. Donna is absolutely wonderful w/ my niece and my niece really likes her. My niece was born w/ acid reflux which complicated the situation but Donna was great w/ her. When we start to have children, I wouldn't hesistate to use Donna.

Also, the day cares in our area were not only expensive, but required you to pay for their service whether or not your child was there. For example, sick days where my sister has taken off work to stay w/ Makena, or the week between Christmas and New Year's when my sister takes off to spend time w/ my older niece, she would still have to pay. That's a racket. I would like to not do my job on any given day and still get paid for it. :teeth:

Both of our daughters benefited greatly from daycare. They learned socialization skills, ABCs, got to go on field trips, and perhaps most important, learned that they are not the respective centers of the universe. :teeth:

Marseeya, It is a center.

I've called and he is doing GREAT!!! He can be a tad bit sensitive. He's a momma's boy!! So that's why i worry. But, i have called twice and he is doing great.

I feel that the people watching him are qualified and seem very nice. If i wasn't comfortable leaving him, then i wouldn't have left him!!

I do know one thing - HE WILL SLEEP GOOD TONITE!!! :Pinkbounc

By the way - Thanks to everyone for the positive stories! They have put my mind at ease today!!

april--I'm glad he's having a good day. Gives you a nice sense of relief, doesn't it?

DS attended 2 different day care centers. We moved him for strictly geographical reasons. We were thrilled with the care he received in both places, and I would not hesitate to refer friends to either one of the centers.
