I need plastic tickets!!

How about if you buy an AP while checking in at the resort? Would the resort key also become your AP, thereby being hard plastic? Or would you get a resort kek in plastic and a paper-type AP?
Unfortunately you cannot buy Annual Passes at the resorts. Disney cannot combine APs with resort room keys. You would get a paper/plasticky type AP and a credit card type resort room key.

The AP is "paper." I used my AP 86 times last year and it still looked as good as the day I bought it. It held up very well.

If you buy them, or have them replaced at a Disney Gate (meaning theme park, DTD, etc) you will get the "paper" type. Only if you purchase online, at the Disney Store or with your room and have them added to your room key will you get the plastic type. Then, if anything happens to them and you need them replaced at the parks, they will again be "paper".

BTW, remember to remove them before going swimming or washing your clothes. Also, remember to record the data at the bottom of the ticket that includes the location (will be something like WDW or WEC, etc) the date and the ticket number. This will help the castmembers look them up if they are lost or can't be read. There is no other way to track them.

ok, thanks! I think we will pick them up at the Disney store near us since I want the harder plastic type. I had the coated paper one last year for my after 4 Epcot pass, and even though it held up, I was nervous about it shredding, getting left in a pocket and going in the wash, etc. I know they will replace it if damaged, but aren't the plastic room keys to your resort much cuter? I think so.

OK OK...heres a big tip....when you arrive buy the tickets at the resort (if your staying at a WDW resort) they can do that at check in if you have not bought a package...in fact packages are a great way to go for guest coming down once every couple os years....you pay for the package 45 day prior to arrival and if you have to cancel you do not have tickets that sit around till decide to come....thay are part of your room key and not individual tickets

Just got back today and we had the "paper" MYW tickets. The CMs want each person to sign the back of the ticket, we weren't told this at every gate, but were told enough times during the week. This would also help to keeep track of everybody's ticket. I have a family of four and we have always gotten four different characters on each, so we just assign each person a character.

Just use a "Sharpie" and put an initial in the corner on the front. I have 6 in our family, 4 adult tickets and 2 children tickets, it does get confusing. I am the offical ticket holder of the group, so I dole them out at the gates. As soon as we get through the gate, I put them back in birth order. It only takes a few minutes. I like the "paper" ones. It is made of what I like to call indestructable paper. Still have some from 2 years ago, they look like new!

Our AP's are the "paper type".

They are actually a tyvek type material and are holding up extremely well.

We have been using the "paper" tickets since around 1999 and have never had any problems with them. I have always carried them in my wallet and have never had one not work. Also seeing as how they have gone to the biometrics, they have added a place for a signature, so ensuring that the correct pass is handed out to the correct person should be easy.

We have even used the old tickes as scrapbook items and they still look new even after having been a trip to WDW.

Plastic is nicer, but I guess it all comes down to personal preference.

You can purchase a fastpass/hopper plastic holder from The World of Disney store before you go into the parks. It seals and will keep your tickets and money dry. The cost is about $11.00.

 Going to WDW March 7-12

Don't hang your "paper" AP on the refirgerator with a magnet. I thought I was being so clever; I would always know where it was and it was a nice reminder of my next trip.

Duh, the magnet demagnetized it. They could get no reading off of it whatsoever. But they quickly reissued me a new one. Felt pretty silly when they asked me where I had kept it and I told them.

Don't feel bad . . . I would have never thought about that! Thanks for the heads up, my dear! :earboy2:
