I need Pixie Dust for My Mom

I hope your mom is able to go home soon. My dad was in the hospital for four months, and all the tubes and procedures are hard on family as well. I had my sister with me, and all of my brothers and sisters showed up at the hospital during that time, so I can't imagine going it alone. Don't be afraid to ask questions of the staff -- sometimes they are so busy and tired and stressed that they make human mistakes. My warmest regards go out to you! Please keep us up to date -- if you have the energy.

Hello Fellow Dis'ers. I had to take Mom to the ER earlier tonight, she is 72 and has a bought with pneumonia and will have to stay in the hospital for a few days. I am taking care of her since my DF passed away last year of lung cancer. Mom has been phyiscally healthy up until this point and since I am the only child and no other family members really, I need my Dis family, because that is what I consider these boards to be, one big family, to send some praryers and pixie dust this way. Thank you.

Pixie dust and prayers for you. You are not alone.

Hello mylilnikita

Many prayers and pixie dust to you and your mom. I hope she makes a speedy recovery. :)

I recognized your name. I believe we were on the same cruise last year, Dec 2, Wonder. We had not met, but we played the Mickey tag game.

Take care,
Tink

tinkerbellmagic: How are you doing? Last year was great wasn't it? Thank you for your prayers and pixie dust. Mom is looking forward to coming home.
DD and I are going on the Dec. 1, Wonder cruise this year. Take care of yourself.

Just saw this thread. Hope your mom is feeling better soon.

Hello everyone
Well yesterday and today have been very hectic. The fluid that has been draining from around Mom's lung has made like a scar tissue net around the lung and tomorrow morning, they will have to go into her chest and peel, yes peel the scar tissue from her lung so hopefully her lung can expand. So, Mom needs an extension on the prayers and the pixie dust. Her surgeon has done all these tests to make sure Mom could handle this and he said she is strong enough, she is 72, but spunky and hopefully this procedure will help her lung. Thanks again to everyone.

We'll be praying for her and sending double the pixie dust her way.
Keep your spirits up!!!!
Keep us posted when you get the chance.

C/O Mary Immaculate Hospital. 2 Bernardine Drive Newport News, Va. 23602. Thank you.

Hello again
Today was a very long day. Mom's day started off with having a scope put down into her lung to make sure there was nothing in there that would be worse than it already is. Then she went into surgery, it took 2 and half hours, but they didn't start until much later than expected and I was getting upset of why it was taking so long. The hospital staff was wonderful. Finally around 4 pm she was taken to icu, where she will be for a couple of days. I saw her and she was still out of it. I knew she would be in icu afterwards, but when I got there and saw her, I just started having flashbacks of the last day I saw my Dad and I wasn't as brave as I thought I would be. But the surgery went well and that is all I can ask for right now. Well, I am going to try to get some rest. Thanks for reading this.

mylilnikita, just remember that your Dis-family is keeping you in our prayers - and there are bunches of us praying. So glad your mom came through the surgery ok. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Remember the Psalmist says in the 23 Psalm, "yea though I walk THROUGH the valley" Not TO but THROUGH....We're family so you don't always have to be brave and feel free to post anytime.

Mylilnikita,
Today will be better. People always look their worst after surgery, especialy with all the equipment they are sometimes hooked up to. Just remember those unfamiliar devices are there to help your mom to relax while her body heals, and it will help the staff to give her the best of care. It can look pretty depressing, even scary sometimes, I know, I've been there myself.
Just remember we are all there with you and we will continue to be as long as she is ill. When she gets all over this and gets her strength back I think she deserves to take a relaxing vacation with you. Some quality mom, daughter time. That would be something for her to look forward to. Believe me, having something possitive to look forward to can really help keep her from getting depressed and help to heal faster.. The mind really can help with healing. When I had cancer and surgery and weeks of treatments afterwards my huband and kids always talked about things we were going to be doing when I got stronger and it really did help me to stay strong, have a possitive attitude and to get through it. It will help your mom too.
Well take care of yourself too. You mom needs you to stay healthy and strong for her. Let us know her progress when you get the chance.
Our prayers are with you both,
mom x4,grandma x4

Thank the good Lord that your Mom made it through surgery okay. I hope that she continues to do well. I am sure that seeing someone you love in ICU is harder than some people might think.
You and your mother both are in my prayers. :grouphug: Continue to keep us posted when you can!

Doing ok this year. Looks like DGS and I are going to be taking our vacation at the same time as you two again this year, but we are going to WDW and decided not to do the land/sea this year. I wanted to make it a bit easier on myself this trip by staying in one place instead of three, like last year, but DGS still talks about the ship and can't wait to go back on again next year, maybe.

I hope your mom is recovering nicely and will be able to come home soon. Let us know how she is doing. Hang in there. We're all thinking of you. More prayers and pixie dust on the way!

Hello Everyone
Sorry it took me this long to write, the week has been hectic. Mom only spent a few days in ICU and is doing well. She is working with a physical therapist doing little exercises to get her mobility back, it has been 4 weeks she has been in the hospital. The nurses have her get out of the bed and sit in a chair and work with a walker to get her walking mojo back. My DD starts school next week and then the week after is her birthday,so I am hoping Mom will be home soon. Thanks again for the prayers and thoughts, etc.

Mylilnikita,
I'm so happy to hear your mother is getting stronger everyday.
I'm sure she will be home soon.
Keep u sposted when you have the time,
lots of hugs, prayers and pixie dust coming your way!!!!
