I need PINs for every member of my family in order to do on-line checkin!

OMG.

I just tried to do on-line check-in for our upcoming trip next week. I entered credit card data, and then it came back and asked for PINs for every family member. Yeah, like I can do that. My daughter is sleeping, my mom is at church, my husband is shopping. I thought this would be a nice quiet time to get this chore done. There is no way I can come up with PINs for everyone that they will be able to remember without consulting with them. I haven't been paying very close attention lately so I must have missed this. I guess they must have been having a lot of fraud lately to have to do this. But, they could have given some warning about information you need before you start the process. I wouldn't have even started if I knew I needed this.

Hmmm. First we've heard of this. Why not just give everyone the exact same pin? Will it let you do that?

We just got back from our trip the beginning of this month. I had a split stay so I did three online check-ins. On one of the reservations it asked me to give a pin for all 4 of us in the room. I was very confused since the other two reservations I did two minutes before didn't ask me this. They only asked me for one for myself and my husband. I chose the box that said use the same pin for all. When I got to the hotel where it asked me for pins for the kids it was verified they in fact did not have charging privileges. I felt better knowing that, but I was very confused why it happened in the first place. I eventually chalked it up to a glitch :confused3.

It's asked me for pins as well, before. Just give everyone the same pin for now. You can change it when you arrive at the online check in desk.

The new proximity room key acts as a charge card, requiring PIN at cashier machine for charging. This is new since last year.

Just use the last four digits of your home phone number for all the PINs. Same number, all can remember.

Or, to insure no one ever forgets your birthday again, make it your birthday for everyone!

For the record, I know all about the new key cards and PINs.

I find it irritating that you cannot even do on-line check-in without giving them a credit card. Then when you do check in they ask you what cc you want to use because it's not on the reservation. :confused3 Now they want a PIN using on-line check-in???

The benefits of online check in is questionable.

It is a marketing item for Disney that saves and makes them money. They can reduce the number of CM's by building the room packet at night before you arrive.

They allow you to check in up to 60 days before arrival to lock you into your vacation. People who check in online are less likely to cancel their vacation.

They want you to charge to your room because people who do, tend to spend more money.

The new RFID room cards with pins increases the room charges even more.

The Magic Band implementation which makes the charges even more convenient than the cards is projected to increase revenue by 15 to 20%, that's why Disney spent a billion dollars on the project.

I would just use the same pin for everyone.
Our last trip we even needed pins on the kids cards with no charging allowed.
If you are on the dining plan you can't use the dining credits without a pin.
We thought the pin was a great idea and wondered why they hadn't thought of it sooner.
If you loose your card, no one else can use it.

The more I hear about these new enhancements the less I like them. Wonder when I will decide 'enough is enough' and start cutting out Disney. I think the day may be coming.

Hmmmm. I did online check in yesterday and it didn't ask me for a PIN. Does it depend on the resort? We will be at VWL...

We will be at VWL too. I don't know why it asked me. I've decided to just give everyone their own birthday as a PIN. They should be able to remember that.

So I just went back and filled out the on-line form giving everyone their birthdate as their PIN. Then when it was done it showed me a summary page that said that my two teens do not have charging privileges and that I could change that at check in. Really? Why is it asking for a PIN if the system thinks that they don't have charging privileges? So now I need to change this anyway.

Don't worry you can set it up at the front desk when you get your packet! Or don't worry about a pin. You can still charge to your room. We did in May and it wasn't a problem not having a pin.

When we checked in for our stay in early May we were asked to create PINs (I did not do online check-in for that stay). When you purchase things at WDW you tap your room keycard to the charging station and then enter your PIN. DH and I used the same PIN for both of our keycards. You do not need unique PINs for each guest.

It makes sense to request the PINs at the time you do online check-in so everything is ready to go. It's not clear why you need a PIN for cards without charging privileges unless you are using a dining plan. The counter service restaurants have keypads so maybe you need to enter a PIN if you are purchasing a meal using a dining plan.

The only issue we had is that the buttons on the keypads are too small, making it hard to enter your PIN correctly.

I've never had a problem.

It doesn't allow charging privileges for someone under 18 automatically. You would have to do that upon check in.

When I've given my CC info online, they've never not had it upon check in. So maybe a glitch.

We all know their system has tons of glitches since they've converted.

So if we never leave a credit card, we likely don't need a pin? I've never been asked for one, but I never put a credit card on file either.

The pin is new, maybe 2 months ago if that. You need the pin to buy anything that you want on your room charge using the new RFID POS terminals that are installed at every Disney merchandise and food location across property. You also need a pin for the Magic Bands for charging privileges.

If you don't provide it for online check in then you'll have to take the time at the resort to provide the information. So if you prefer to add it and a CC later, why bother to do online check in?

When we checked it at our resort, they only wanted one pin for each CC on file.
If you want to use separate CC for other family members don't bother to do online check in.

I did both my online check-ins without giving my CC. I just skipped that part.

I gave them my CC when I got there as I know I have to put PIN anyway. PIN is only needed for the KKTW with charging privileges.
