I need ideas on how to surprise kids with a WDW trip

the morning we were leaving! It was great. The girls are my "honorary" nieces and were 2 and 4 at the time. I went over at 8:30 in the morning and they couldn't figure out why auntie wasn't at work! I told them we were going to Disney World.....they didn't believe us until they actually saw the castle....it was priceless.....they kept asking EVERYONE....the people at the airport...the airline crew...the towncar driver, etc. it they were actually going to see Mickey Mouse! The funniest part is my dad drove us to the airport....now everytime they see him they think that they are going to disney :)

It won't work at Christmas, but I love what DW's cousin and her DH did for their 2 DS's a few years ago.

Their family of four were sitting at the table having breakfast as they would on any normal school/work day. The boys father stated that he wasn't much in the mood to go to work that day, and was taking the day off. The parents then said that maybe they should all just take a day off. No argument from the boys on that one. Then the discussion turned to how they would spend their day with each family member making a suggestion. "Dad" says "I'd like to go to Disney World". The pragmatic boys said "Yes, but that would really take more than one day" so the parents suggested that they would just take off the rest of the week and go. Within the hour, a limo was waiting outside their place in suburban Chicago to take them to Ohare.

We went to WDW in May and all had such a fantastic time that we decided we had to go back Nov. 20-26. Our kids are 4 & 6 and they bring up Disney moments from our May trip almost everyday.

Dh and I didn't tell the kids though that we are going back. We are leaving after the kids get home from school and preschool. I will have everything packed and ready to go. We're going to tell them that we are going out to eat for dinner, they'll ask where and we'll tell them at Disney World. They are going to be so surprised. They ask, "When we can we go back to Disney?" almost weekly!

Our first trip was planned 3 weeks before we went. We decided to keep it a secret. It took some teamwork with secret letters to teachers for homework. I had to do my 12 hour shift the day before and dh worked 2nd. So my mom went after school and got the kids homework from the teachers. One teacher had forgotten it was a suprise and gave it to a very confused 8 year old. Thinking fast my mom told her maybe the teacher got confused about which Jessica. Sounded good. My sister then got the kids while I got home and packed and hid everything. (Kids thought I was working late) The next morning we woke up the kids early with a Birnbaums Disney for Kids and a vacation card. They were crabby about getting up early and were like "It says we're going to WDW" I had them pack a backpack and my sister came and got us. The kids were just going along with us and it wasn't until we got to the airport and they checked our bags that the screaming started. They had thought it was all just an elaborate joke up to that point. There next thought was "Hey grandma and Aunt Jody lied to us" But they decided it was for a good cause. It's a few years and trips later but they still loved that suprise.
Of course Christmas does lend itself to even better suprises. We had never even heards of the DIS that first time we went and were on our own except for the guidebook.

My husband gave us a trip to Disney as a Chirstmas gift last year :)

You have to appreciate how big a deal this was as he is totally DIsney-impaired, or challenged (he just does not "get it")

Anyway, on Christmas Eve he handed us an envelope and it rattled.... we tore it open and it was full of little wood letter tiles from a "Scrabble" game.

He said, "Merry Christmas... solve the puzzle and you get a gift"

We had to pour all the letters out on the table and try to make out what it spelled.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP TO DISNEY WORLD.

I have a good friend that surprised her 3 kids (they were 8, 7 and 5 at the time) with a Disney Cruise about 3 yrs ago.
Actually it was the grandparents that wanted to surprise them....so.......
They packed all the bags in secret and had the grandparents take the bags to the airport.
That week it was the oldest one's birthday...so they told them they had planned a day of shopping and dinner, etc.
So they all piled into the car and off to the airport (kids thought they were going to the mall).
Once they got to the airport the kids started to question.....Mom said they had to pick up the tickets for Dad's business trip next week.
They piled out of the car and headed to the ticket counter.....as they walked up........
There were Grandma and Grandpa standing there with Mickey Mouse ears on and a big sign with a picture of the ship and Mickey and Friends!! (got a poster from AAA). :hyper: :hyper:
The kids just screamed!!!!!
The didn't settle down the whole trip!!

I have too much of a big mouth to keep a secret like that!!
But I'm going to try it one of these days!!!

I am planning to surprise my three boys on Chirstmas morning, too! I will use some of these suggestions to help with my planning; of course iwth a "boy theme!"

Thank so much,
Michelle in MA
