I booked the towncar service round trip from the Hawthorn Suites Orlando Airport to the port for our May Magic cruise but was told, in a not very pleasant manner, that Tiffany does not make a grocery stop. The rerason I was given was that they will not leave the highway and there are no store on the highway - "we need to make it a strait shot." Am I missing something or have I not read repeatedly that the Town Car services will make a quick grocery stop? If anyone has another service they can suggest I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

As far as I know, they used to...that sounds really weird. We use Happy Limo, and we make a grocery stop pretty frequently when we cruise. It's never been a problem! I thought that was a pretty standard towncar benefit.

Barb, do you stay in the parks before you cruise or do you go directly from the airport/hotel? Maybe, I will check with other services besides Tiffinay.

There seems to be a common theme among many folks reporting on these boards that most town car services either will resist stopping for groceries, or they will insist that they can only stop at a convenience store. They'll insist (lie) that there are no grocery stores between the airport and the port. (There are grocery stores... click here for details.) I can understand their reluctance... assuming that each passenger stop at a grocery store will take, on average, 30 minutes, it may make the difference between 3 paying trips carried instead of 4 on any given port day. That difference falls to the bottom line pretty quickly.

We have always preferred to use FL Tours for our transportation. Andy is a wonderful guy who will see to it you are taken care of.

FL Tours is the official transportation company of the DIS and by using them we are supporting these boards. I know that I would be lost when it comes to my Disney planning without these boards.

Go to www.fltours.com/reservations.htm and fill out a request, you will see pricing before you ever have to submit the request for a reservation

I totally agree with Trekker. Andy was wonderful!

I just made a reservation with FL Tours today. Right on their online reservation form, it asks whether you'd like a FREE GROCERY STOP.

Sounds like FL Tours is more than happy to make the grocery stop if you'd like!

We usually stay at an airport hotel, although we've stayed at WDW before some cruises too. Happy Limo has the grocery stop right on their reservation form, and I've never had any problem with their willingness to stop. One time, I had even indicated that I didn't need a grocery stop, then changed my mind later. There was no problem with adding it to my reservation.

Although I have read on many threads that you should stay near the airport, we are going right to the port even though we are getting in after midnight (the Thursday/actually Friday a.m. before our Saturday cruise) and taking Tiffany right to the Port. Given the late hour they said they will not stop anywhere. I assume most places are closed, but are there any 24 places where we could lean on them to stop?
Thanks.

There's a 7-Eleven at the Narcoossee Road exit (just a couple exits east of the airport on SR-528.)

I know there are plenty of 24 hour convenience stores because I usually prefer to stop at one of those rather than a grocery store. When we use Happy Limo, they have stopped at a couple of different onces. Usually it's something like a 7-11. I don't know why Tiffany is giving you such a hard time. The expressway between Orlando and Cocoa Beach is loaded with tourists, so there are tons of convenience stores.

I don't know if going to the port instead of to WDW resort makes a big difference- but I do know we used FLtours on our last WDW trip and we arrived late (our arrival was planned midnight anyway- but due to plane delays we didn't arrive until almost 2am!) and we were able to go to our grocery stop anyway- at Public (grocery store- not convenience store)

I also vote going with FLTours. :)

Really? I didn't know Publix had any stores that were open 24 hours!

I have a totally unrelated request for the OP!

We'll be staying at the Hawthorne Suites the night before our cruise in June!

Would you please let us know how things worked out for you there? i.e. shuttle from airport, room etc.

Thanks so much and have a MAGICal trip!!!!

We used Happy Limo, too. They were great, and very patient for the stop at the grocery store.

Thanks to all of you for the information. Now it looks like I will be canceling my reservation with Tiffany and going with one of the other services mentioned in this thread. Again, thanks.:teeth:

Well, I canceled Tiffany and they were not suprised when I told them why. I took the advice of many and contacted FLtours and they were great. We are now booked with FLtours and they will stop at a grocery store. Another difference was Tiffany told me what time they would pick us up at our hotel and FLtours asked when would be convenient for us. Thanks to you great folks at DISboards we are now all set. Now if only it would get here sooner.:p

This may be a silly question. I am a first time cruiser in May 2004. What is the purpose of a Grocery stop? To get things you may have forgotten? Silly huh?....

Thanks!
