We are planning on going to AK for an evening, at about 5 PM till close (closes at 7 during my trip), we were wondering if the Safari ride would still have active animals closer to 7? There is no way we can go early on any day, so I really want to know if I would be missing out if I only get there around 5. Thanks for all your input, as always.

I've never been fortunate enough to be at AK when it's been open till seven at night!;) However, I can tell you our experience with doing the safari early morning versus late afternoon. It seemed that the animals that were active in the morning were inactive during the afternoon, and animals that were inactive during the morning were active in the afternoon. It was a pleasant surprise!

I does close earlier than many attractions, due to the nature of it involving Live creatures.

Be sure and pick up a "times guide" on one of your first days, so you make sure you don't leave it until a time that the attraction is not actually running. When we took the tour I seem to remember something about them being brought into the "vet" area each night to be check, and taken their food. I think they are given privacy (i.e. no spectators) during this time.

The same with The Studios. The ones that use live creatures If any are still open, (actors) :) all close earlier than the parks do.

I do not know about 7 but at 5pm and usually at opening they are out and about.

On a side note go to DAKL around 5pm for feeding and stand at Arush Rock. You will see betwwen 30-40 animals.

In my mind the last safari's of the day are the best. The animals are out and moving and on their way to the barn.

I think the animals will be very active after five. They are kind of like people, they start to get hungry and looking for food. Disney also puts alot of the animals up at night, and they are use to being called to the barn in the late evening. The reason they are active in the morning and late evening is that the temps are cooler then too.

We've always had a very good show late in the afternoon, sometimes better than 1st thing in the AM.
