OP, I am a frequent DISer, but I created this account so I could respond anonymously.
I am going through a similar thing with my wife. In 17 years of marriage (20 years together) we never had a fight or disagreement, however whenever I would bring up any dissatisfaction she would become quiet. Two months ago, I discovered that she was having an affair with one of her clients. (she's a massage therapist) Anyway, after I approached her with the evidence I found, she decided to move out and move in with her affair partner. I was devastated to say the least! I had a week of pure psychotic episodes. I then spent the next month and a half trying to figure out what happened. In our 17 years of marriage she never gave me any indication to not trust her. I started doing research on-line and came across symptoms and signs of Narcissism and when I read them, I was shocked. My wife fit almost everyone of the symptoms. Now, I believe my wife is a covert Narcissist so that explains why we never had an argument. If your husband is in fact a Narcissist, he may be an overt Narcissist. Unfortunately, if he has NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder), there is nobody that can "fix" him. Count your blessings that he left and file for divorce. His "needing space" probably means that he is already having an affair and is ready to move on. Rest assured though, he will be back but under no circumstances should you take him back or the abuse will continue!
