I am out on Maternity leave now by my doctor. No major complications but I do need to take it easy and rest up. I don't do that well.

I have two weeks and a few days before this little bub is born, most expect I'll go earlier as I am very large and very very low!!! I feel like I have so much to do!!

I have started organizing our closet and our room this week. It's coming along, but I needed to rest yesterday b/c I did too much on Monday. I need to finish that today and pull the bassinet in there.

I have pack my hospital bag. (I am thinking that would be #1.)

I want to clean the kitchen and organize my little bookcase in there.

Need to clean the guest bathroom and mop the kitchen, bathroom and foyer floors.

Laundry

Pick up and vaccum the living room. (The picking up is tough b/c I can't bend over. I have started crawling around the area I need to pick up with a trash bag!! Or leaving little piles for DH to pick up when he comes home!!)

Use my little green steam cleaner to clean the sofa cushions.

I bought some ground beef yesterday and I would like to make up some meatloaf and freeze it, along with some spaghetti sauce. At this point I would be satisfied with freezing it in 1lb blocks!!

Luckily, aside from the bassinet being in the living room and not the bedroom DS's room is completed. His little clothes are washed and his bag is packed and ready to go. The carseat is even in the car!!!

I think that's majority of it!!! I need to get off the couch and get working while taking it easy! I have my next appointment tomorrow and I am curious to see if I have made any additional progress!!! I am ready for the baby to come but also ready for him to stay in there a little longer!!

I think you need to slow down a little. Pack the bag, freeze the meat (or maybe freeze some of it after you brown it...it will be easier to put it in sauce or casseroles later), and forget steam cleaning or any heavy organizing. Have someone take you to buy a couple of throws or quilts to put over your furniture. The baby will spit up or their diaper will leak at the most inopportune times and it will be easier to wash a quilt than to steam clean or buy a new couch.

The most important job you have is to take it easy. Trust me, you'll need the rest.:thumbsup2

I would say get a movie, make some popcorn, watch movie and SLEEP! I would love to be able to spend a day with nothing to do. Enjoy it.

I agree, why not just do nothing? You aren't going to have the chance to do that much longer, at least not for a few years. ;)

See .. I am not good at relaxing. I feel guilty ... like I am not doing what I am supposed to do by staying home. I ended up out on leave a little earlier than I planned so I feel bad.

I am trying to get into the SAHM role!!!

Sleep as much as possible since you won't be doing much of it once the baby's born. ;)

I agree, you need to just pop in a movie and snack on some popcorn. You will have *plenty* of time to get into SAHM roll after he is born. Take this time for you... you won't regret it in the end.

I was sidelined by my docs at the end of my twin pregnancy. I wasn't technically on bedrest but was instructed to take it easy. That wasn't something I was used to, either. But I did (for the most part ;) ), and I often thought back on it after the babies came and was so glad I'd had that time. LOL, there came a time I couldn't even remember what it was like to just sit by myself for more than a few minutes. Everyone tells you take it easy, enjoy it, etc, but you don't realize it until later (ie after the opportunity's passed) how special it is.

P.S. We want a report at the end of the day!

I vote for the relax and do nothing! I thought I would have 3 glorious weeks off untill DD came, I quit work on Friday, she was born on Sunday afternoon.

Plus your nesting! Poor Dh started freaking out when I was cooking, vacumming and washing clothes all at the same time. Your family will not starve, the world will not end if the house isnt spotless.

I was soo afraid that would happen this past weekend!!! With the full moon and how low my baby boy is ... A woman DH works with was due on the 4/15, five days before me and she had her baby yesterday!! Yikes ...

So far I haven't gotten off the couch since I wrote that post except to get more juice. I will take it easier ... I'll still do some stuff though!!!

OK - knock it off!! No mopping....no vacuuming.....no cleaning furniture!!

There - I feel better.

You MAY brown the meat and freeze it & pack your bag. That's it! Then, you MUST sit down with your feet up and watch TV or take a nap. Those are your orders from a veteran mother. Got it?!

I know how you feel. I always did that too. Always felt like I needed to be doing something constructive. But you know what? Even if you clean every corner of your house from top to bottom, it won't stay that way for the next two weeks! You'll just frustrate yourself even more.

So I say go do something fun! Go shopping. Call a friend and go out to lunch. Go to a museum if you like that sort of thing. Do things you can't easily do with a newborn. If you're still feeling all domestic, bake cookies! For me, baking cookies fixes everything anyway.

Enjoy your time and do some "you" stuff!

Are you kidding me? SLEEP is the only correct answer:lmao:

Tell you what....bookmark this thread, come back and read it in 6 months. You will be so mad at your self for not sleeping today. :rotfl2:

another veteran mom adding her two cents worth........DEFINITELY rest! You have so many years ahead of you where you are not going to get a chance to rest. Housework will always be there......take this time for yourself!

Thanks!!!

I have my feet up and have been this way for a good half of the day. I just get up to switch the laundry and put it away quickly. I also put dinner in the crock pot and made a quick sandwich for lunch.

I cleaned the kitchen a little earlier, but seriously it takes like 15 minutes!!! I think I have Pregnancy induced carpal tunnel ... I can't use my right hand (like washing dishes etc) for more than 15 minutes before it tenses up and HURTS. I also get the numbness at night. That's why I figured the crock pot would be good so I don't have to "cook" much. I put some spareribs in there with 1/2 bbq sauce and 1/2 appricot marimalde!

Other than some laundry, I won't do much more today I promise. Maybe I'll go laydown later this afternoon after a warm shower and nap or just read!!! I feel a lot better just doing a little, otherwise it weighs on my mind and it needs to get done sometime. Probably eaiser now than with the newborn!!!

Oh and yesterday I was GRUMPY ... I couldn't get dinner right for the life of me so in the middle of that I stopped and made chocolate cupcakes!!!

Thanks Moms .... It's nice that you guys care. My mom is up in the NE and will be coming down next Thursday for a few weeks ... she is telling me to sit down as well!!! I'll go do fun stuff once she comes down while trying to kick start Alex's arrival!!

I agree SLEEP as the answer.

My kids are 5 (almost 6) 2½ & 13 mo. I miss sleep. I miss sleeping in until I want to get up not to the noise of the toilet flushing from the 5 yo or the 13 mo crying because she woke up.

Oh also enjoy peeing on your own, sitting there with the remote in your hand & not having a 13 month old taking it from you, enjoy chatting on the phone with out the "mommy, mommy, no it can't wait, mommy...my nail chipped" (OK you got a few years before that).

My dh & I laugh how hard it was with one child to go anywhere (I was nursing) & now I am like "I'll take the baby if you keep the older 2 with you".

Just enjoy you time.

Here's my opinion....

I have started organizing our closet and our room this week. It's coming along, but I needed to rest yesterday b/c I did too much on Monday. I need to finish that today and pull the bassinet in there. Yes you may continue to do this but leave the big stuff to DH.

I have pack my hospital bag. (I am thinking that would be #1.) WTH are you waiting for here?? :lmao: :lmao: Do you REALLY want to rush to the hospital and have to send DH back to pack a bag for you??? I had to do that with my second - it was not pretty when I saw what DH brought back - I told him exactly what I wanted but he got confused when it came to my going home outfit and packed a regular non-maternity outfit that I had to mash myself into like a sausage when it came time to get dressed and go home.

I want to clean the kitchen and organize my little bookcase in there. Organize - no cleaning unless it's just wiping down counters.

Need to clean the guest bathroom and mop the kitchen, bathroom and foyer floors. Sounds like a GREAT job for DH.

Laundry Who needs clean clothes?? This one is ok however NO LIFTING BASKETS!

Pick up and vaccum the living room. (The picking up is tough b/c I can't bend over. I have started crawling around the area I need to pick up with a trash bag!! Or leaving little piles for DH to pick up when he comes home!!) Kick the stuff on the floor into the corner then vacuum around it!

Use my little green steam cleaner to clean the sofa cushions. If you do this it's almost a guarantee that this will then be the very first thing the baby will spit up on - wait till then then have DH clean it.

I bought some ground beef yesterday and I would like to make up some meatloaf and freeze it, along with some spaghetti sauce. At this point I would be satisfied with freezing it in 1lb blocks!! Have at it!

The reason why you are on leave is because you need to rest, to prepare for labor. You will need everything you have for that - get done what you need to get done with COMMON SENSE, help and LOTS of rest but do NOT overdo it!

I have no idea what to pack!! I have a list from online but aside from one pair of nursing PJ's I am using everything they want me to pack!!

I need my pillow now and if you are bringing it so that you have some comfort of home, what's the point of bringing a pillow different than the one you use!!

I am wearing my other PJ's almost non-stop (except to wash) b/c not much fits!!

I have the camera battery charging and the camera on the table.

I have the baby's bag packed but the nurse at the childbirth class says that we don't need anything for the baby other than a going home outfit if we want a special one. I do want to bring a few things for him rather than rely on the hospital things.

I use my shampoo/conditioner/makeup now so I can't pack that.

I don't have any plans for labor music or anything so I don't know what to pack in that regard. We are doing our hospital tour tomorrow night so maybe that will change. YES I realize we are cutting it a bit close on that!!

We aren't allowed to bring food in, so no snacks.

I am wearing my few nursing bras so I can't pack those, I was waiting to have him to get a few more b/c the ones I have fit so differently and my BB's have changed that much with pregnancy.

Any ideas???

BTW: I am great at excuses... drove my mom nuts when I was little!!!!

Pack that now including the charger.

I packed a few outfits, a blanket, my own pacifiers(last thing you want is to have your kid get attached to a specific pacifier from the hospital then you lose it - not pretty)and a bunting (2 of my 3 are winter babies)

I use my shampoo/conditioner/makeup now so I can't pack that.

Dont you have extras in your linen closet? Pack as much as you absolutely can.

I packed chap stick, hand lotion, plenty of socks, head bands to keep my hair out of my face while I was in labor, change of socks and underwear for DH as well as deodorant for both of us in case it was a long haul (My labors were 10, 24 and 31 hours - that stuff for DH came in handy on the last one, he got so grimy looking that I ORDERED him into the shower as I couldn't stand looking at him anymore :lmao: :lmao: poor guy) I also had snacks for DH, PLENTY of underwear, going home outfit, pajamas etc.

With my second I didn't have anything packed at my 37 week appt - I was planning on packing it that night. Low and behold I get to my appointment and I am told to go STRAIGHT to the hospital - NOW. I asked if I could go home first to pack a bag then drop my oldest off at my sisters and I was told that I had to promise to drive straight to the hospital otherwise the Doctor was going to call an ambulance to take me (I had developed severe pre-eclampsia within a few days, my BP was sky high - the hospital was only about a mile away) So I had to cart myself off to the hospital with NOTHING. DH met me straight at the hospital as did my sister to get my son so I had none of my "stuff" until after the baby was born and I could send DH home to get it. He never found where I had the going home outfit for the baby either-(wanted to use the same one I used for my oldest - but he couldn't see it even though it was EXACTLY where I said it was :lmao: - my Daughter was the only one of my 3 to not wear that outfit home.)
