I would really like to get one of these but have not begun to research which one I want. I see a couple names and I am wondering what I should be looking for and what they can do for me.

What I need the most help with is just plain organizing. We are a family of four with two very active kids who both have practices and games and we have appointments to keep. Also we are on the board of the Little League and I am the team admin for one of my sons premier travel soccer teams. Email and web acces would be important. Other then that I have no idea what else one of these could do for me.

I see Palm and Sony and today I spotted an HP iPAQ that looked pretty cool. Which PAD do you have and what do you use it for. Id like to stay under 400.00 if possible.

I don't have one - but I have heard that Palm is good.
You might want to try PMing helenabear, I know that she owns one and really likes it.

Pam brought this one to my attention. I do have a Sony Clié PEG-SJ30 and I love it. I do not, however use this for e-mail or Internet access because to me, I just don't have the desire to try to do my e-mailing and browsing on such a tiny screen as well as trying to input text at any great length is a pain. I think I would sooner look into getting a wireless web for a laptop than I would doing this all on a PDA. But this is just me so I cannot be much help with that for you.

One thing you have to be aware of is that there are two main OS for PDAs out there... the Palm OS and the Microsoft Pocket PC. I had started out on Palm and I just stuck with it through my upgrades. I use mine for all my personal organizational stuff (addresses, planner, notes, lists... etc) I also have an excel and a word program on there so I can look at & create those documents when I need. That has come in handy quite often. One software I also added was a guide book of sorts for WDW and that came in very handy on my last trip.

So my honest opinion to you is to go play with these at a Best Buy or Circuit City or the like and see which OS you prefer and then go from there. Dell is a good name that I would trust and both Palm and Sony are two I have personally used in the past and like... Sony won out this time due to the excellent graphics but I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Palm again.

I have 2 palm's and a HP Jornada, both are suited great for their jobs... the palm's are used for my job because the caterpillar program we use to test our engines has to run on a palm..

but for personal items, and connectivity the Pocket PC is the way to go, you can run windows apps on them.

Another Clié user here. I have the PEG-N760C. It is about a year old now. I mainly use it for appointments, lists, address book, and occasionally use it for email.
