Hello,

My DD4 is going to be a flower girl this weekend, and it has been requested that all of the flower girls wear their hair up in curls. My DD has very long (she can sit on it) thin hair that doesn't hold product well, as it seems to weigh her hair down and the curls won't stay in.

Do any of you have a recommendation for a "touchable" type of hair product that will hold up for a few hours that won't leave her hair crunchy?

Thank you in advance!

Look for a "light hold" product. I also suggest letting her sleep in sponge rollers the night before and then just do the best you can. That's all the bride can ask. Don't stress about it and neither will your child. Have a great time!

Garnier makes a cream, it is in a jar, that really holds up. Depending on how you use it her hair can be soft or crunchy. It is 'anti humidity' type. I would use this product the night before, put her hair in rollers overnight then touch up in morning with curling iron. They also have an anti humidity hair spray that works well as a final spay. Are you planning on pinning it up and letting it fall from there? That can help some with the weight and the curls will tend to stay in longer. Both my DD's have had long hair in the past and these were the things I have done. I also have medium legnth hair but a lot of it, so my hair tends to straighten at the crown from the weight. This product really works for that also and you can even fix it during the day without it getting frizzy. Just your fingers in it works.

I am sure your daughter will look beautiful and everything will be great. Enjoy the wedding.:goodvibes

I agree with the sponge rollers. My DD has long hair and the sponge rollers are the only way I can get her hair curled. I do suggest that you DO NOT take the rollers out until the very last. Also practice rolling her hair. It takes me one hour to get all my DD's hair up and it takes over 12 hours to dry. You can get the rollers at WalMart. I would get the case with the different sizes because it looks better with different size curls. I have had to have DD's hair curled for the last 3 ballet recitals and have tried many different ways to get her hair curled. Unless you must, I would not touch up the curls with a curling iron. The heat from the iron tends to make the curl fall out faster. Just when you are rolling it, make sure the ends are as smooth as possible. Good Luck! I know she will be beautiful.

my dd has had very long hair in the past and had to curly ponies for recital.
here is what i do.

1. wash hair
2. let it dry to almost dry- it won't dry if you roll it when it is really wet
3. spray gel - the cheaper the better- I use some yellow stuff from walmart
4. put hair in ponytail
5. little sections of hair -start from the top spray each section with the spray gel and roll in the pink foam roller - I used over 60 the last time i did this
6. leave in until you have to take it out.
7. spray with hairspray

good luck

My only tip has also come from too many recitals...anyway...after you fix her hair, put it in a hair net to hold everything in place. I buy the cheap lightweight ones and just tie it around the curls of the pony tail, not her whole head. That will keep the weight from pulling on it too much, then just before the wedding, take the net off. It has worked wonders for us in the past. My DD has very thick hair and the weight always pulls the curls out until we started doing this.

Do you have, or can you get your hands on, a diffuser? If so, after you spray her curls, gently dry them with the diffuser. The heat will help set the spray and keep the curls longer.
