See now, some of the alternatives listed here are not our favorites.
On our last trip we tried Chefs for the first time. I was also worried about a questionable review (my sister), but we ended up enjoying it.
I'll admit it wasn't our all time favorite meal, but it also wasn't bad either. DH didn't like his steak, but otherwise everyone else liked their food. And it was only the steak he didn't enjoy, the rest of his food was fine. The desserts were quite good.
While our service wasn't super fast or perfectly even, our server was super nice. He really made an effort to be kind. In France, you are allowed to occupy a table as long as you like - very different from America. In France, they don't bring your check until you ask - very different from the rest of WDW, where you are slightly (politely and subltly) encouraged to keep to your alotted time slot. Truly, serving American theme park style must drive the servers there crazy.
Anyhow, I won't go into details, but before our meal I had to run across Epcot in a hurry, while DH got our table. DH informed our server why I wasn't there before I arrived. Our server promptly took my drink order almost as soon as I sat down, and politely encouraged me to take my time and catch my breath before ordering. I thought it was very sweet. He let us know he wasn't going to rush us, and that we should relax and enjoy our meal. His quiet offer was so very French, and really reminded me of being in France.
Again this style of service is very un-American...but it was perfect for that moment. Plus I really liked that I was able to get a plate of fresh green beans! WDW has really cut back on the veggies lately! The ones I got there were cooked perfectly - not raw, but still crisp, and nice and thin.
As I recall, our favorite dessert was the ice cream, but they were all good.
