I don't usually stay in the All Star hotels, but my young charge wants the All Star Sports. So, *** it is. (ETA: it bleeped it out! All Star Sports, lol.)

I'm doing the usual research, I mostly just want opinions from real people - stuff they liked, stuff they hated...whatever you're willing to share.

Thanks.

:lmao: :lmao: LOL! the abbreviations for the All Stars are

ASsp
ASmu
ASmo

Otherwise you can get some interesting words! :lmao: :lmao:

i stayed there about 5 years ago. if was for a short trip on spring break.... i liked it.. can't really remember much about it except i loved the big foot ball field!!
our recent trips have been to Pop Century!! that is my favorite hotel!! I'll be back to all star sports in september.....we got a really good deal on the all star sports... too good not to take it! so i keep calling every day to see if they have any rooms at pop avaliable.... so for no luck!
so i too could also use some Info on All Star Sports!!!
thanks!

Likes: Theming (garish for adults, entrancing for kids), price, diversity of guests, ease if grabbing a bite at food court if not close to "normal" meal hours, easy drive to AK

Dislikes: Noise, food court at mealtimes, rooms are small for more than 3 people, bus service (feels unreliable, often crowded)

From personal experience of touring the value resorts... I think ASsp is the best when it comes to theme execution! The buildings have truly amazing details to each sport... and they keep it "clean" and "simple" without going too over the top!

You'll read a lot of reports regarding the "worn" look of the resort, and even the potential dirty appearance at times. Don't feel uneasy though, just read some recent reports regarding the deluxes and mods and you'll see a trend developing (shame on disney for there poor maintence these days)

I really like the overall layout of the resort as I don't think there is a "truly" bad location when it comes to walking (especially compared to ASmu). The pools are perfectly themed and so fitting... very top notch in my book! The food court is just that, a disney food court, and I found offerings to be decent and plentiful. Since it is "first" on the AS bus route (when the AS do share buses) it can give you that extra advantage.

The resort is about to undergo a room renovation (similar to what you can find over at ASmu) which I think will really help give the resort that extra boost! The rooms are your typical "value" rooms, but I found nothing wrong with them, with exception to what others have said, just worn and at times dirty appearances. I do expect that though from an aged room thats occupied 98% of the year.

The resort can be home to several large sports and other groups at times as well. I guess in those situations, it's really whether or not you want to make the best of it! I always check the WWoS website and calender of events to see what I can expect that week for sporting events.

I've never had an issue at a value resort, found transportation to be fine, food to be great, and people and CMs to be pleasant. ASsp was one of my choices for our September trip, but the pool closure changed my decision. With the renovation, I'll be definately staying there in the near future!

My bf is VERY interested in staying there... he loves the baseball section and wants to travel during Spring Break Training and stay there. Thats probably our favorate area of the resort just for the proximity to the pool and overall design. It can be a nice walk to the main building, but close to the bus stops if you take the short cut on the outside of building 10.

Yes I thought I read correctly that Sports will undergo renovations similar to Music. There was just another thread posted saying it was just the pool at Sports that was going to renovated. I hope so. I might consider it on the request from my young DS.:woohoo:

I have seem it too - from mouseplanet or something like that.

but the dis (wdwinfo) or allearsnet - aren't mentioning any of it.

think allearsnet is mentioning the pool.

the CM didn't mention to me either about the main pool being closed.

we will see when we are there.

going in Sept - when are you going?

Was this directed to me? When I made my reservation (first day it was released to visa card members) the CM told me right before payment that she "was forced" to inform that the pool will be closed for a portion of our dates (9/8-9/15)...

Originally at the time of the reservation, the pool closer was 8/2?- 9/14... but it is now the ENTIRE month of September (8/2? - 10/4) I posted a thread regarding this topic to inform people.

I feel that wdwig.com has been "lacking" when it comes to resort renovations (completely acceptable too, things change WAY too often and rather pop up out of no where). You'll notice you won't find any information about GF room refurbishment, yet we have newly completed photos on this site lol. :rolleyes1

I don't know "official" dates of room refurb at ASsp... but I believe it was as early as this fall...

okay my memory is not what it use to be I think they are starting in August - so hopefully by Sept there will be some rehab rooms.

it goes until Dec?
