Ok, somebody told me the flip hat and princess hat were coming out on valentines day and in may. is that true?

Bc if it does I need to wait in trades

Rumors like these come out all the time... usually by someone wanting you to trade your item for less than you planned.

I actually had someone tell me a hat would be re-released the next week and I should be happy to take the offer they were giving and that I could just buy my own next week- I laughed and told them to be patient and play games to earn the credits to buy their own next week then...

Of course the hat never came out- and I didn't do the trade.

I really think someone is just trying to get a cheaper deal in a trade so they tell this story or have a friend tell it

I don't doubt that almost everything will be re-released at one time or the other but no one really knows when

Players never know when things will be released.
Every rumor about things being released have the the same amswer:

Agreed. If someone tells you in the game that there's an item coming out,
and it isn't listed as coming up in the newsletter (or calendar event page),
the players are just spreading rumors.

Even the hosts will not tell you if an item was going to be released.

Lately, VMK has been putting up on the calendar what the Emporium pins
are being sold on Fridays. That's the only thing you can believe others
talking about in the game, as it's on VMK's own pages.

OP I would say that at tihis point it is just a wild rumor, This is normal on VMk and happen all of the time some goes and says they want item x, and the next on goes i think that item x will come out on y day and now it spreads and we think the item x will come and never does.

The players don't know is correct, We didn't know that the New Orleans Mardi Gra Mask was coming out until it was posted on the website the day it came out. We didn't even what the new world was until it was opened for us to explore so I say you hear anything like that again, It's most likely a hoax or lie.
