What shocks me from reading the occasional posts about Ofsted inspections is how the people that care for children dread them so much and how much stress they cause. This can't be right :headache: Why are the people that either teach or care for my children put under so much pressure to "perform" to a certain standard, rather than be encourraged to be themselves. I can understand that childrens care and learning has to meet standards (and believe me, I want you all to be checked throughly before I leave my children with you) but should it really put you all under so much pressure?

Good luck!!! You will be fine! From your posts previously regarding school I think we all know what a great teacher you are! :)

Good luck, hope it goes well for you:thumbsup2

Rather late to respond m8 but I know you will be fab !!!
Hey be yourself wth your ocd - you will defo be organised x

well, i got "done" 25 mins before the end of the day, with my worst class:eek:
id used some bad language, which im not allowed to on here, i quote the HMI-
my planning was good, resoources were good, and management was good. students learnt :rolleyes1, i got a satisfactory over all, she was concerned with my familarity with the kids (i burst out laughing -nervously, as one of the kids was cheating as he had found the answers to the quiz i had set:sad2:
she also picked me up on calling the kids "honey" which i do all the time, so that ll have to stop. i justified all the questions (poor behaviour, unachieving indian boys, class lists/data etc. i answered everything right, so my boss is v pleased, im not.
anyone, its my 1st experience, over with, just need to know now how the school did;)
thanks for your kind hugs, im not happy with what she saw, but i did my best under difficult circumstances...
as an aside i work with my HOD, senco and deputy head, and they all think im mad for being nacked off a satisfactory:laughing:

I completely know where you are coming from, I hate the term "satisfactory" it's YUK!! But we know that actually under the new OFSTED framework that satisfactory is pretty darn good!!! Well done you and try not to get down about that word!!

My goodness what a trying lesson. Well done for getting through it. Great that your managers are happy with your result - I wish you were too.

Still it's over now, at least you'll know what to expect next time. :thumbsup2

It's demoralising isn't it. You put your heart and soul into the lesson, you worry, stress, and know deep down that you are doing everything you can to try and make sure the children learn while maintaining a good rapport and then they only judge you satisfactory. As others have said in OFSTEDSPEAK which is a language all on its own, that's flipping brilliant!

yeah they do speak a different language to the rest of us :rotfl2:

yeah, one of the blokes i work with spends all day on autotrader, has awful classroom management skills, and managed to "sing and dance" he got a good, which upset me. my HOD was happy, so i guess i should be too

yeah, i hate the word satisfactory...what does it mean anyway??

apparently satisfactory now is equal to a good on the ols scheme, so im only 3 years out of date:laughing:

Satisfactory in the new framework is Good which from the old old framework is Outstanding!! And hey - outstanding means that it wasn't bad!

Not sure ofsted (or HMI) have the right to say you can't call the children honey. Lots of my teachers call children things like "sweetie" and I don't mind.

Well done, Tracy - rest and drink wine.

Glad it went ok, you should defintely be pleased with the satisfactory, when we had our Ofsted a few weeks ago its the grade that loads of people got and as other people have said we were told that it is the same as a good grade on the framework.

thanks i would rather call a kid honey than oi you! i think she was implying with a 14 yr old boy it could be taken the wrong way, which i get, but there were 20 other people in the room:sad2:
i call kids honey all the time andhave never had a kid or parent or other member of staff complain...
resting and drinking of non alcholic cocktails will occur after "the big reveal" tomorrow night:rolleyes1, looks like we are heading for an overall satisfactory due to attendance, but loads of "good", it goes to the lowest mark, so bring on tomorrow night!!
ps if anyone wants to write my lesson for yr 7 tomorrow...im struggling:sad2::laughing:

Got done again this morning:confused3
got a good for the tutor time (got feed back even though its wasnt a "lesson".
phew, what a reliief!!
i dont think i have ever been this drained, physically and mentally, im so glad its over. as a school we passed, not allowed to say anymore until its in the public domain...
im so relieved, thanks for all the kind thoughts and hugs, i love my dis friends:goodvibes:grouphug:
