Ok, spur of the moment we decided to take a road trip to CHicago. I have gone to maquest and mapblast...there is a 2 hour difference and 68 miles difference between them.

AAA can not do a trip kit in time since we leave Friday??

Anyone have any suggestion? Any sites to recommend or not recommend?

Hi Glo! According to my latest CAA magazine, CAA/AAA now has online triptiks, so you might want to check out their website.
Have a great trip!

Does your AAA do an online/printable triptik? I just read that the CT Motorclub branch of AAA is starting to do this now....might be worth a try looking into??

Glo, I've never used mapblast before but I did just check it out for my trip to Chicago. I must admit that the directions given by mapblast weren't near as good as the ones given by mapquest. They took me in a weird direction to get to the highway by my house and the directions they gave for me to get me to my hotel weren't what were given to me by my friend (and mapquest too). I use mapquest all the time and haven't had a problem with them yet. I do find them to be very conservative on travel times. Like when I went to Michigan, mapquest said it should take 5 hours when it only took me about 3 1/2 or so. Mapquest has me slotted at a 6 1/2 hour drive for Chicago and mapblast @ 6 hours. If the directions are good but the time is padded (probably for bad traffic) I'll take that :) I probably didn't help, but I do always stick with mapquest.

Glo,
Try www.Expedia.com. On the tabs at the top, click on "maps." A page will open to give driving directions. I find this site better and more accurate than either mapblast or mapquest. Good luck and have a fun trip!

Okay, I'll say it before someone else does....

I can't tell the gender of all the respondants..

those who replied, but I'm guessing female...

:D

We always use www.mapsonus.com

You can plan routes several different ways ; using major highways, avoiding major highways, fastest route and shortest route.

ROFLMAO!!! what's the matter Glo??? you don't trust Phil's detours?? ROFLMAO
I suggest before you take mapquest talk to Snoopy , she knows ALLLLLLLLLLLLL about it!!!

I use MS Streets and Trips and love it.

Glo!!! Can i come? :teeth: I'll be good!! I promise!!! Seriously though...Do NOT use mapquest (IMO). I was getting directions for my parents and it basically told me to take the dead end street thats next to ours and get onto rt. 9 (we live off of it). Now, i'm not a driving expert but i do know that jumping onto Rt.9 from a dead end street is suicidal. I asked some neighbors and they said a while back (close to 20 years ago!!) the dead end street actually did merge onto rt.9....20 YEARS AGO!!!!

Thank everyone. I got the AAA off their site and got detaile directions with construction delays and everything. It will be an interesting trip, and we are even picking up a hitch hicker....lol (TownCrier) . Thanks and wish us luck!!!

Sorry I missed this yesterday, Glo!

What Baboo said!

The program might say 6 hours for Elaine but she'll probably do it in 5 LOL;)

Alan some of us men aren't afraid to use a map, ask directions & even eat quiche;) ;) ;)

And glo, of all people to pick up hitchhiking    ;)
(Anyone named John, is not to be trusted IMHO)

Glo, Glo, Glo. It's very easy to get to the Chicago meet from MA.

Get on Interstate 80.
Follow west until you see Interstate 294.
Take to 95th street
Go east for two blocks until you see the mall.

Easy!

Another Streets & Trips person here. Glo and Phil have to drive 17 miles out of their way to pick me up and I am grateful that they are willing to do so.

Mskanga - If they can find my house, I can get them to and from Chicago in my sleep.

Brian - I-80??? No way. I-90 west until it hits I-80. Then I agree with the rest of your instructions. See you there!!!

Some of us under 30 know and love that movie ;)

The Best Western web site has information like directions and hotels along the way. I used that to get ideas of where to stop along the way on my road trip.
