I need a good lasagna recipe

If I can ever find my from stratch recipe I will post, my mother has it at her house, and we think my sister has the book somewhere :( It was an awesome recipe, if I ever re-locate it I will post.

Look in to my eyes  You should get sleepy...Give us your recipe secrets....By now you should feel compelled...Tell us all....You're not going to forget what you promised...:teeth:

this one is easy to do, the sauce takes about an hour to make and let simmer.

Sauce
1 lb. Italian sausage (my mom uses 1/2 sausage 1/2 hamburger but I much prefer the sausage!)
2 cloves garlic, minced
28 oz. can diced tomatoes
8 oz. can tomato sauce
12 oz. can tomato paste
1 Tbsp dried basil
1 Tbsp dried parsley
1 1/2 tsp salt

brown meat, add garlic and saute a couple minutes, then add rest of ingredients. Let simmer for at least 45 minutes to meld flavors, stir occasionally.

Cheese filling - mix together
24 oz. cottage cheese or ricotta
2 eggs
1/2 cup grated parmesan
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 Tbsp dried parsley

8 oz. lasagna noodles, cook and drain. I've tried the no cook and do not like them. if you swear by them, add more liquid to the sauce when using no cook.

16 oz. mozzarella cheese - thin slices work best but shredded will do as well

spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray. Layer 1/2 of the noodles, 1/2 of the cottage cheese mixture, 1/2 of the sliced mozzarella, 1/2 of the sauce. Repeat.

Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting.

I use a mixture of 1 lb ground beef, and 1/2 lb. sausage.

I like Prego sauce, but add a lg can of crushed tomatos, italian seasoning, and extra garlic. I also put the ricotta cheese into the sauce. You get the flavor, but not the chunks (kids won't eat the chunks)

I boil my noodles, but only about half done.

I use a mix of mozzerella, parmisian, and provolone cheese.

:lmao: I wish it was that easy :teeth:

This one came from one of those old junior league or church books, it was awesome, I will have to call mom again soon.

I know those old family recipes have to be good. :thumbsup2

I always use the recipe on the back of the noodles. I add some tomato chunks and a few extra spices. But I have to tell you what I added accidently one evening to my lasagna that turned out to taste good. I was reaching for a spice and by mistake added ground cinnamon. I tried to get all of the cinnamon out of the lasagna sauce, but was unable to get everything out. It ended up tasting yummy. There was just a wee bit in the sauce, but it added a certain something special to the sauce.

Last week my sister made the most amazingly delicious and easy "lasagna". It was made with a meat mixture of chopped meat and crumbled sausage with homemade sauce. You take Italian pasta store large square homemade raviolis (fresh) and make layers in your pan.
Sauce
Ravioli
Meat Mixture
Mozzarella and Grated parmesan cheese
Repeat layers 2 more times and make at 350 for 40-60 minutes.

I do make a nice lasagna that is much more time consuming but delicious. The Ravioli Lasagna was easy and quick and just as delicious!:thumbsup2

I'm originally from Ohio. Cinnamon, and cocoa, are two ingredients in Cincinati style chili, which is really more like a sauce---YUM!!!
