I have bought and returned more cans of hairspray lately because when I spray them on my hair they seem to spray out wet and then i haveto wait for them to dry to do their hold thing. I am not spraying to close as I have tried all different distances and that doesn't seem to make a diffeence. I have naturally curly hair and need a hard to hold spray to hold curls in place.

My HS of choice is the Big Red can called Fat\Sexy but at $17 a can and since I just lost my job the day before Christmas eve, not in the budget right now so I need something cheap.

Any help would be appreciated.:flower3:

Thanks,
Shannon

Have you tried gel or mousse instead of hairspray? I know my friend with REALLY curly hair has to use mousse in her hair before it dries.

You can get a generic version of big, sexy hair hairspray at Sally's beauty supply for $7 a can. It's a shorter can but bigger around and I think it holds about the same amount. I love their mousse and other products as well.

You could try the L'Oreal Ellnet Hairspray. This is, apparently, the most popular hairspray in Europe and finally started selling here about 2 years ago. I have used it and find it has good hold and sprays on dry. I don't continue to use it because it has a "scent" to it that I don't care for. I'm very sensitive to scented products--it doesn't bother most people. I always use Sebastian's Shaper Plus, that's my favorite but I keep a small can of the Ellnet in my bag in case I need something at work.

I LOVE Ellnet. I even like the scent. :)

My hairstylist uses this and totally recommends it as well.

I can find it for $12 a can here in NY

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I have tried mouse/gel but I have some areas on the very top that don't curl the same as everywhere else and over the years I have learned that I can coax those trouble spots with a good freeze hairspray. It's just a matter of $$ right now with no job anythig over a few bucks is out of the question till I get back to working and earning a paycheck.

My sister mentioned Aussie Freeze and it's under $3.00 a can so I'll give that a try. I would really love to try the Lloreal product though when I get a chance.:thumbsup2

Take care all and have a very Happy New Year!

Try Tresseme. It contains no water. The one I use is I think Tres Two. Can's in the bathroom, and I'm too lazy to go look. :rotfl:

I don't like the sent of Ellent either. The scent seems to stay with me all day too.

i think you are looking for one that has a higher alcohol content. there used to be one that was in a blue can - a volumizing line - and it was wonderful! but i cannot remember the name of the line for the life of me.

right now i'm using plain old dove aerosol spray and it is actually pretty good!!

We use Aussie Freeze here and boy, does it freeze, lol! Buying three at a time for us, the price was right and it does hold well.
