I need to find a double stroller. One that my 70 pound 7 year old can "ride" on and my 18 month old can lay in. I have seen the Caboose stand on strollers, but the weight limits are low. I know I can rent one in the parks, but wanted something to ease the pain of walking back to the hotel room at night. Does anyone know of any manufacturer that makes such a thing that would accomodate the weight of my BIG BOY? :confused3

I've been searching for a bigger boy umbrella side/side stroller. The best I can find from a weight limit is Maclaren Twin Triumph or Techno at 55lbs and Baby Planet Utility sport at 55lbs. The rest have a limit or 40 or 45lbs per child. I've yet to see anything that can support a 70lb child. Hope you can find one.

If your 7 year old is in a stroller at the parks, hopefully there won't be any 'pain' walking back to the resort? I'd just bring a stroller for the little one, and rent a single stroller for the 7 year old when needed. That is, of course, unless your child has a medical need for a stroller - then there are some great links on the disABILITIES forum about larger, medical strollers.

Alot of the stroller swaps on the Budget Board are using the InStep Safari Double Jogger. It has a 100 lb capacity, reclines and has a front swivel wheel. Take a look, maybe that would be a good choice.

Look into the Phil & Ted, I love mine. I think the front seat can support up to 80 pounds, but look it up I may be wrong.
It's lightweight and very functional with the additional 2nd seat.

Yes, I think that you need to look at joggers to find that weight capacity. There are also boards that you can attach to the back of most any stroller, but I don't know the weight limit on those. I also don't know how easy it is to fold a stroller with a board attached - you probably have to remove the board each time.

I have never see that stroller before. It doesn't seem like the child tht ends up in the bottom gets good view?

I have a double Instep. If you are using Disney bus I really dont think its a great option. Sure it folds down quick but its still quite bulky. I refused to travel with mine.

I have a 7 yo and although he can fit into the double Instep, its not a great fit. Hes only 45 inches and 42 lbs. Plus you have to really look into them. Just because its a 100 lb weight limit doesnt mean each seat can hold that. Many are only up to 55 lbs each.

I agree with the others, honestly, a 7 yo should be able to walk back to the hotel room. If theres a medical condition then Im guessing insurance may help pay for a stroller to suit his needs. Otherwise I dont think I would be buying a stroller to fit his weight limit because it would be really pricey.

Heres my 7 yo and 3 yo (who is 30 lbs and 40 inches tall) in the double instep jogger.

Ita. I know its a "dream" to push but I hate how they look with the double attached. IMO its like the kid on the bottom is almost on the ground and just thrown in there. Its just weird to me.

I HIGHLY doubt your 7 yr old will even need a stroller. My DD#1 who was 6 when we went has a congenital heart defect and has had open heart surgery and she did fine with out one for the whole week. Just take it slow if need be, sit rest, there is no reason to rush the whole week. Unless your little one has a disability I really dont think they'll need one. Honest. Just make sure they have good comfy shoes on!

exactly..I dont know if I could ever use one.. plus.. where is the basket to put all your crap:lmao:

When we go, my dd will be 5 and my ds will be 17 months. I am taking a single stroller for him and renting one at the parks for her! Last year I purchased a graco duolglider just for the disney trip. Both o f them fit comfortably but it was such a pain to lug that thing around everywhere! I say rent one for him or just buy an umbrella one for $20 at Walmart or Toys rus. Even though he may exceed the weight limit, he probably will not be using it all the time and should be okay in it.

(sav and seb- theres a single maclaren volo swap going on. could you join in on that to save money? or maybe start one of your own? :) )

We are thinking about bringing one for my 6 yo. He too was born with CHD and had open heart surgery. Do you mind if I ask what defect your daughter was born with. My son was born with TGA, ASD, VSD. I'm always intersted in talking to other heart moms.

Double Outlet Right Ventricle (basically both ventricles went to the lungs instead of one to the lungs one to the body), VSD, ASD, AV Canal, pulmonary stenosis but she's good to go now :thumbsup2 I hope your little boy is doing good. She did fine the whole week, of course she got tired... who doesn't?? :confused3 :rotfl:

I just bought the baby trend sit n stand for our trip. I have a 6 1/2 year old and 17 month old. I was also debating about what to do, but with the stroller price increase and the fact that the time my 6 year old would need it the most would be at closing and traveling to the buses ect.; I decided it'd be best and just about the same amount of money just to buy this. The weight goes up to 100 lbs. and I personally think it's very easy to steer (honestly it's easier than my single stroller.) It's like a regular stroller in the front and then just like a bench in the back for your older child. The only thing that I can really see as a problem is that the part for my 17 month old doesn't recline a lot. We plan on taking breaks in the middle of the day for naps, so I don't think it'll be too much of a problem, but we'll see. It folds up really well, and isn't too heavy. I've seen a lot of bad reviews for it on the boards, but I haven't seen any problems, nor can I forsee any (except the lack of reclining.) Good luck to you!

I'm glad to hear your daughter is doing good. My son is good. We just went to the card. in June and we are good until next year:) . I'm sure he will be fine for the week. We will see.
