I'm sorry, but I just have to tell SOMEONE! We went to the Calgary Comic Convention and I saw him speak and then got to have a photo opp with him. He put his arm around me and shook my DH's hand. :cloud9:

Hearing him speak was delightful and he is the most gracious star I've ever heard. He indulged fans by singing a little from his part in Fiddler on the Roof and trying to remember his lines from the animated Transformers movie back in the 80's. He also announced his retirement from all tv and movie projects, as well as from making appearances beyond the few obligations he's already committed to through this summer. He said he wants to focus on his photography.

Definitely one of those days that I'll remember for a long while. :goodvibes

That is SOOO neat! I am a 'closet Trekkie' b/c my family thinks that is just so uncool :lmao:.

I have heard he is a really nice guy. He has done a multitude of voice overs for nature and science shows, other than his cameo in the last 'Star Trek' movie.

I am envious, lol.

:scared1::woohoo::love: WOOOOWW~!!! He would've had to have me surgically removed!!! I had a MAD crush on Spock growing up!!! :lmao:

Do you remember that program where he was saying Anna anderson was Anestasia? I would love to know how he felt when the dna proved she wasn't.

I'm sorry he's retiring from public appearances, but am glad you got to meet him. THAT IS SO COOL :woohoo: !!!!!

agnes!

OMG, how cool! I love him!

I just posted that I got to meet Elvis Costello this past weekend. Sounds like we both got the experience of a lifetime. You should post your pic!

When we get the digital file of the picture, I'll post it. It should be here in a day or two. :)

That's amazing!! I have to tell DBF that he's only planning on doing appearances this summer-- we have to find him somewhere!

I know he's doing the Vancouver Star Trek convention at the end of June with Williams Shatner. There is no way I have enough money to go to this, but I would love to! I bet it's the last time to see them together, and they're doing a photo opp with both, too. (For the low price of $199!)

I've always enjoyed him, he seems so intelligent. I had to IMDB the old "true"series he narrated in the 70s--"In Search Of...". It scared me to death as as kid!

:thumbsup2:cool1:

I have been reading some of your posts for months prior to posting myself! I'm so glad you got a great opportunity. I'm sure your mom was looking out for you to have something happy happen in your time of need.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time! You deserve it!

I looked him up on google because I wanted to see what he looked like and it came up with some pictures of some, big naked ladies. Apparently it is one of his photography projects. Took me by surprise! :scared1:

I did finally see a picture of him. He was quite handsome when he was younger - I only knew him as "Spock", but he looks much different without the makeup and the pointy ears. :rotfl:

That is AWESOME!!

We watched all the extras from the new Star Trek movie and even on that he just seemed incredibly kind and gracious. I'd love to meet him!

Which Fiddler on the Roof was he in??? Not the old movie...but maybe on stage? I'd love to get my hands on that!

Yes, it was a stage performance, I think in the 70's. Someone in the audience knew about it and asked him to sing a little of his part. He told a great story about his parents, and how they had emigrated from Russia so it was almost their story, too. And that seeing him in it was the first time they had seen him perform since high school and that it meant a lot to them to see him playing Tevia.

I have encountered other celebrities before, but none that really seemed to be honored to have fans, you know? They were trying to move us through the photo opp quite fast, but he still took time to say something to each person, shake hands, give hugs, etc.

Wow! That is so cool. I'd be all tongue tied and unable to speak.

I just checked the convention schedule. There is an convention coming to NJ this summer, but it has no one from the TOS cast or the TNG cast. :(

He also announced his retirement from all tv and movie projects,

   That means he won't be in the next Star Trek movie. :(

On a different note, Ember, I remember you saying how you really, really wanted to go on some trip or go study somewhere, but do to your previous situation taking care of your mom, you couldn't go. Were you able to go after all?

Thats awesome, I am a BIG fan as well, and I knew about his photography...had no idea about the Naked Ladies...but...OK...He was recently a guest on "FRINGE" and I hope he is on that show again.:thumbsup2
