Sorry it took me a few days to get back to posting about the pockets - it's been Purim here, our big dress-up Halloween sort of holiday, so it got busy! Here's how I did the pockets:
First I cut 12" X 6" pieces out of my oilcloth, as per this plan (ignore the picture after the folding; it's not completely correct):
If you're using paper and duct tape, cut the same out of your paper and then cover it with duct tape.
On the back, I made 4 marks, at 2", 4", 8" and 10" from the left edge.
Because I used oilcloth, I taped the upper border of my pocket with some duct tape BEFORE folding, just to strengthen it.
With this backside still up, I folded the 2" mark ONTO the 4" mark, then folded the top flap back again, along the 2" line, towards the left edge of big piece. Two folds. Then I did the same on the right side. 10" mark overlapping the 8" mark, then fold the top flap back toward the right edge. Voila! To make it easier in the next step, I also fastened the folds with a small piece of tape that I'd later remove.
Turning the pocket over so the good side is up, I then taped the bottom of it to the front of my FE. The tape holds the folds in place. The top folds are then free to fan out and make the pocket.
I placed each pocket 2" above the previous one. (Don't forget to remove those little pieces of tape inside that helped hold the folds!)
I started taping the lowest pocket and worked my way up.
Hope this helps!!
