"I"m Only Going Because My Teacher Told Me To" Nov. 2016 PTR * update 12/2 TRIP REPORT STARTED! *

Not sure about Zaxby's. I don't like them because one day many years ago I wanted to personalize my order a bit - I wanted all drums on my wing order and offered to pay more - and was told that wasn't possible. I've never gone back. Yes, I hold grudges...haha. I love Chick-Fil-A so much more anyway!
!
I'm the same way about places that piss me off lol. That was a pretty simple and straight-forward request......but I still need to get a chicken salad sandwich with Texas toast when I go!

So I'm really far behind but I love those snow globes! I plan to try to start collecting Disney snow globes in the not-too-distant future. The ones you've got are gorgeous. Also love that you are at the point at which you are thinking specifically about your park days. I'm excited to see them come together. The rest of my family is begging to try Cape May next time, but I don't eat seafood. And the pics of th school bread and drinks made me drool a little bit...sure do miss my Disney food!
You have an excellent excuse for being far behind :) Welcome back! I wanted to start collecting the big snow globes years ago but they're so expensive. I have tons of the small ones JCPenney used to hand out on Black Friday and then some smaller ones that the Disney Store sold as their "spend a certain amount, get this for $10". But these are my first big ones!
Yeah like I mentioned to Carathryn Cape May hasn't been on my radar since I don't eat seafood (okay, except the tunafish.....). But mussels is the one thing Ricky requested besides the bowling and this worked out. I'm crossing my fingers the excellent reviews I've read of the salads and desserts are correct!

OMG Ariane37!!! We HAVE to meet one day! I too am a HUGE Dooney lover. I only have one. It's the one with the Castle, Tinker Bell etc (it was one of the first released). I want the Princess one, but it's always sold out!!! If I see it this weekend, it's mine!!!! I also want the new Dumbo one that's coming out soon.
I would love to meet :goodvibes Too bad our fall trips don't coincide but I'm fairly positive we'll both be going back ;)
And I wish you TONS of pixie dust in finding the Princess bag this weekend! We looked down there 3x and couldn't find it and also had a hard time finding it online. Eventually Steve did find it online and surprised me with it. I've gotten many compliments on it in Disney stores and outlets, and the few times I've used it down in the parks lots of CM's have commented that they can't even find it!

But you know what's funny about me not eating seafood at all? I actually DO eat tunafish! Steve thinks that's hysterical since its so fishy :fish: but any other seafood I've tried (which really isn't much) I gag like a little child forced to eat veggies.
This is hilarious...the tunafish and the gagging....haha.

And FYI on the sports: everyone from Steve to my stepsons to my mom and sister have tried explaining football to me for years. Not only do I have absolutely no interest in it, I can't for the life of me understand any aspect of it. But you see basketball games are 1. short, and 2. inside 99% of the time. So I'm never too hot or too cold and never having to watch one for more than an hour :thumbsup2
See I'm the opposite. I truly despise basketball (can we just stop with the damn squeaky shoes???) and I love me some (college) football. I'm good with a lot of other sports, too, but I grew up in the South so that's kind of a thing...lol. ;)

I'm somewhere in the middle of both of you. I'm okay with basketball and enjoy going to games, but don't love it, as my true love is football. I don't make plans on Sundays from September to February lol. However, only pro for me, no college.

I can watch pro...#gofalcons...but it's not a priority. Same with baseball and most other sports. The only time basketball is on my tv is if my home teams are in playoffs or championships. But college football....that's on my tv all day and night on Saturdays (and Thursday nights, too, usually)! I can tell you where most of the pro players went to college. I'm a tad obsessed. Haha.

Yes I believe overall college sports, and actually high school sports, are a lot bigger in the south. At least it seems that way from things I've read and seen in movies lol!! And it's funny you mention the squeaky shoes. We were at a graduation party last weekend talking to a guy who went to game 7 of the NBA Finals this year. He took his sons but not his wife because she says the sound of the sneakers on the floor gives her migraines :headache: I admit it does get annoying and I am always surprised it sounds so loud on TV!

And I get upset because nobody will hang out with me on Sundays from Sept. to Feb. :rotfl:

Well after seeing your June 2017 dining spreadsheet over on your TR, I'd say you now have 2 obsessions!

Yes, college and high school sports are huge around here! And I can totally relate to the woman with migraines. I mean, it doesn't give me migraines but it's so super annoying! Of course the Hawks just signed Dwight Howard tonight, so basketball will get a little bit of love around here now. Though not from me - he's a tad washed up, but whatever.

And yes, I either really, really get into something and LOVE it or it doesn't exist...haha.

I don't eat seafood but Ricky wanted some mussels that he didn't have last Nov. The non-seafood offerings look pretty good; more important though is that the desserts look delicious and I'm absolutely fine eating a little salad and ALOT of desserts!
I've been looking at this for our January trip. I do not eat seafood at all but everybody else does. You will have to give me a review on it when y'all eat!

Since the majority of people are not basketball fans I'll explain what this is: Marcus Jordan, Michael Jordan's son, opened this store/museum back in May in Disney Springs. Obviously you can buy Air Jordan merchandise but you can also see MJ's trophies, uniforms, family pictures, etc. on display.
I didn't know about this! Will have to check it out when we are in DS!

I will definitely give you a Cape May review and I'm glad you know now about the Trophy Room!

Very Short Georgia TR With A Tiny Disney Fix And Surprisingly, A Touch Of Baseball

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great 4th of July! I flew down to Ga. for a quick visit with my sister and her 3 boys. The main purpose was to bring my oldest nephew back to NY for a few weeks. They moved down to Alpharetta last July but he stayed here with us until about 3 days before he started school in August. They came up for 2 weeks at Christmas but I haven't seen them since and I missed them all big time. Plus, Michael had never flown before so even though him flying up was an option, my sister was a little concerned about him flying alone his first time.

I left here Saturday 7/2 and arrived at the airport in Atlanta about 6pm. My nephews were all overjoyed to see me because I'm an extremely cool Aunt :cool1: Since it was dinnertime we went right to a favorite of mine from when my parents lived in Ga. years ago (and also a favorite of @ArielSRL :rotfl2:)

I LOVE their chicken salad sandwich on Texas Toast :cloud9:

These are my 3 crazy, messy, smelly nephews: Jack 8, Trevor 5, Michael 12

And an extremely bad selfie with the 2 youngest!

The next day my sister brought me to 2 malls, the first one specifically to visit the Disney Store. We don't have one by us - well, there's one in a mall about 35 minutes away so that's not bad but I don't get there that often; then there's a Disney outlet (which I think often has cooler stuff) about 30 minutes away but I really need one closer! Anyway, there was one reason for our pit stop to this mall:

Isn't this cool?? It's inside the front window of the store. Here's a close up of my little Trevor posing with me

I was hoping this Disney Store had some different merchandise than the ones close to me but they didn't. Oh, well. I was just happy to see this after my sister told me about it!

After that we went to the other mall, an outdoor mall she hadn't been to yet called Avalon. First I asked her why the hell she was bringing me to an OUTDOOR mall in July in Georgia. Then I agreed, because I do love to shop.......

So as soon as we got to the strip with all the stores, I see this

Say what?? Alright so it's not the Kona, but it sure did make me sad that I still have over 4 months until our trip :( Besides the depressing reminder it was a very nice, however upscale mall. My nephew bought a shirt in some store I never heard of that all his friends shop in, we bought tons of candy in a candy store where I found the 4th edition of Bean Boozled beans which my boys didn't have yet. Finally it was time for some lunch!

I let me sister make the decision as to where we'd eat because, well, she's really only happy if she makes decisions like that :rolleyes1 Turns out she made a good call. We ate at a place called Bocado Burger. Kind of a cross between fast food and a regular restaurant. You look at a menu, place your order at the register, sit, but then the waitress brings it to you. The waitress will also get you drink refills, dessert if you want it, and anything else you need. I totally did not take pics of everyone's food, but being a somewhat seasoned Dis'er I did take pics of mine:

This is a turkey burger with American cheese, horseradish cream and tomato on a soft brioche bun. They had a bunch of specialty burgers on the menu but you could also build your own and choose a regular burger, turkey or veggie burger. It was dee-lish! I find that turkey burgers either have absolutely no taste at all or are chock full of flavor, which is how this one was even without the cheese and horseradish.

Then my sister and I got a side of garlic herb fries to share which came with some type of dipping sauce. We couldn't figure out exactly what it was - not quite ranch, not bleu cheese........

Look at all the herbi-ness!
And of course I had to have their Sangria to drink

Not Disney food but still good food!

Fourth of July we chilled and then went over my sister's friends house for a BBQ. She lives in a new development that only has a couple houses actually built and a few more lots bought. One of the houses that's almost done has been bought by Tyler Flowers (???) who apparently plays for the Atlanta Braves. If you remember a previous post of mine I'm clueless when it comes to pretty much any sport and that includes baseball, so I had no idea who this was and still don't lol. The house was open so we walked in to take a look around even though the name and his profession mean nothing to me or my boys.......I'll continue it in another post since I'm just about at my limit for pictures. Guess this isn't such a short Georgia TR after all!

Some Baseball Guy's House, Con't

Okay, here's this Flower guys' house if anyone is interested:

And a couple shots of their kitchen/living area:

Those are my peeps in the pictures so it's cool :thumbsup2 Although I'm not too sure Mr. Flowers would like his name and pictures of his new house all over these boards, but I'm taking my chances in the interest of good reporting.

I did stop taking pictures because I felt a little bad, plus to be honest I wasn't hugely impressed with the house. Oh it's bigger than mine, way bigger, but for a professional athlete I expected.......MORE. My sister's friend did say he's only played for the Braves for a year, so maybe they'll be Movin' on Up in another couple years.

I almost forgot! My sister's friend gave her a bunch of her daughter's clothes to put on Ebay, and Trevor found something he'd been dying to model for me. So before we left for the BBQ he put it on and very enthusiastically showed it to me:

A MINNIE SKIRT!! Actually it's a Minnie dress in like a size 2/3, so he can't get it all the way on and settled for the skirt look. I was thrilled he so badly wanted to model this for me!

Michael and I left early on the 5th to head back to NY and so far he and my boys have been having lots of fun swimming and catching up. Next week mine are in basketball camp again and Mike is doing a Lacrosse camp; then we have another week with him before my mom drives him back to Ga. If you came this far, thank you for reading about my short non-Disney vacation! Now back to our regularly scheduled PTR.........
that I don't have much to update on. However, I am anxiously awaiting the release of the Dooney and Bourke magic bands later this month and I think I decided which one I'm getting. I can't find a good picture of it so this is the best I can do

There are 4 MB's; 3 are white and one is gray. I know at least 3 of them are based on old purse prints and I'm fairly certain all 4 are. At first I was going to order some covers which I still may do for the guys, but I definitely want this D&B one!

Now that I have the rest of the summer to do nothing like everyone else who has kids, I'm going to get to work on our daily plans. Thanks again for putting up with me veering off course!

Hold up, they are making dooney and bourke magic bands??!! When??!! I must have!!
YES ::yes:: :yay: I know, right??! I was so excited when I heard! I'm very bad at posting links but just google "Dooney and Bourke Magic Bands" and all the info. will come up including the release date, which I believe is 7/23? They're doing a release party at the Marketplace Co-op in Disney Springs and they'll also be available on the Shop Parks app, just not sure if they'll be available on the app the same day they're released or a day or 2 later. Each band is limited to 1500 being made so I'm getting mine asap!

:moped:oh boy, I better mark that in my calender and make sure it notifies me so I don't fail on snagging one!
About to google...oh man, you just made my Wednesday night!!

Can I just report that Zaxby's photo as inappropriate!!?! Haha. Thanks for thinking of me. ;)

Cute nephews! Do you know the malls you went to? I need to hit up the outlet stores at some point, but I don't have any really near me.

Cute photo op at the Disney store and what a good Diser you are with the food photos.

So as far as that Braves guy...that's cool that she lives in the same neighborhood and I do recognize the name but the Braves basically sold everyone off last year and are rebuilding the team, so I barely know anyone on the team. And my husband actually works for the Braves Radio Network. Haha. How's that? And I actually like baseball! I grew up watching the Braves but they are just unrecognizable at this point.

Glad you had safe travels! Awesome on the D&B MBs. I'd really like one of their purses but not sure I can swing it these days. I do have one of my three Coach's I never used and I was thinking today I might sell it. If I do, I might could use that money and some more with it to get me a D&B Disney.

Looking forward to hearing about daily plans!

I can't understand football either!!! I survived four years at an engineering school but can't figure out the rules of football :rotfl2:

But you know what's funny about me not eating seafood at all? I actually DO eat tunafish!
How funny!!! I REALLY can't stand the smell.

After that we went to the other mall, an outdoor mall she hadn't been to yet called Avalon. First I asked her why the hell she was bringing me to an OUTDOOR mall in July in Georgia. Then I agreed, because I do love to shop.......
In Colorado I lived right next to a beautiful outdoor mall that had almost every shopping, eating, and entertainment option one could want, but when I moved to Indiana this summer there are no outdoor malls anywhere close to me and I miss them so much!

Thanks again for putting up with me veering off course!
Thanks for sharing! It looks like you had a great time catching up with your sister and family.

OK I'm STILL having problems with the stupid quote feature :badpc: I hate computers! But ha ha :rotfl2: who knows, maybe you'll have tons of people supporting your inappropriate report of Zaxby's if they've been done wrong, too!

The mall we went to with the Disney Store was North Point and the fancy outdoor one was Avalon, and they were only about 5 minutes from each other. Speaking of Finding Dory how did you guys like the movie? I think we're going this weekend finally.

That's neat that your husband works for Braves radio! Too bad the team is all new, I know my boys don't like when that happens in basketball. Right now Ricky is extremely unhappy that Kevin Durant left Oklahoma for the Warriors.........and as far as our Coach bag I know there are sites to sell used ones other than Ebay and people get good $$. Maybe you can sell it and get enough to splurge on a Dooney!! I love the Dumbo one coming out in August :goodvibes

Like I mentioned above my dumb computer won't let me use the quote feature so I'm stuck just replying to whole posts! First world problems, right?4

My oldest nephew played football before got more interested in lacrosse. I'd go to his games and only know to cheer by watching my mom and sister and following them :rotfl:No idea what the hell was going on!

The only real outdoor malls we have here are outlet malls. They're very nice and I enjoy them (really only one somewhat close to me) but of course it has to be nice weather to go. And there isn't any entertainment. I did notice at the one we went to in Ga. that there's outdoor entertainment at the Kona place on some nights and a stage-area where they obviously have some types of performances on occasion; very nice.

I did enjoy my time with them :) It really stinks that they moved even though it was for the best and they're all doing well down there. I was used to seeing my sister and the boys weekly so it's just hard now, but the important thing is that they're all happy!

I'm sure that there is!! Lol

North point I've heard of and its far away from me, but I've heard nice. Never heard of the outdoor one but I don't get far these days with two littles.
Loved Finding Dory! It was very good.

I will have to look into that! If you know any good ones, please send me a private message! Thank you!

I love that you found a way to inject some Disney into your Georgia trip! And your selfie is adorable! There were two things in your report that made me drool on my keyboard: those fries and that MagicBand! I want them both, immediately if not sooner.

Let us know what you think of Finding Dory if you end up seeing it this weekend. We all really enjoyed it.

P.S. Excellent incorporation of Zaxby's in your report - fine work! :rotfl:
