Hello all...I just got a call from my SIL. She knew that I had been trolling around the DISboards for a couple weeks, and she asked "have you seen the W.I.S.H. boards?!?!!? They are really cool! You should check it out!"
So here I am. I took a quick look around, and already I love it! I love that there is a message board like this!
Here's a brief history:
To start off, I'll say I've probably tried every plan out there, and lost a little here and a little there, but always put it back on.
SO now at 31, I've finally realized that it's time to make a real commitment. A commitment to live my life differently. Not a "diet", not a "weight loss plan", but a whole new way of life. So while eating differently and exercising more are both part of this, there has to be more. I have to change my mindset.
So that's where you all come in. Where I'm hoping you can help. Just reading here has been a big motivation on a day that I was feeling a bit shakey. The vending machine here at work has been screaming my name all morning! LOL
So here we are. I started with the low carb wol/woe in February of this year. I started at almost 300 pounds. When I'm following it faithfully, it's the best I've felt physically in 10 years! I have more energy, and all of the pains associated with being heavy (leg pain, back pain, fatigue, etc) just seem to MELT away!!! And so do the pounds! Between February and July, I lost 40 pounds! I was so proud to fit into a smaller size jeans...got a new haircut, the works!
But then something happened, work got hectic, family issues got stressful (and I could probably name a few other "excuses") and I fell off track. And I just never got back on track. So I'm ashamed to say that I have gained back almost 10 pounds of the weight I lost. The new size jeans are tight, and I don't feel good.
So I'm ready to get beack on track. But it's so difficult to get motivated. I know I can do it! I did it before. My body is begging me to get back on track. I'm achey all the time again, it's really difficult to get out of bed in the morning, etc, etc...all of the signs my body is giving me are so blatently obvious.
So hopefully here is where I turn over a new leaf! And hopefully I can get the support I need to do that here! I've seen how wonderfully supportive you all are, and I think that's just what I need!
If you've gotten this far in my post, I thank you for reading my seemingly endless babble. But maybe making a statement like this to others who are going through/have been through this will help to affirm my intentions.
My original goal earlier this year was to lose 140 pounds. I had gotten that down to 100 pounds left before "the fallout". So I'm back to 110 left to lose.
Finally, just a quick question. Do you find it easier to break up large goals into smaller ones? I was thinking of breaking into smaller, maybe 20 or 25 pounds at a time. What are your opinions of that?
OK, now I will shut up!
Thanks so much!

You would think I'd know better by now, but apparently it's a lesson I need to keep relearning.
. NOw get yourself a WISH MEMBER CLIPART(or 30lb clipart since you have lost this already) - I love low carb too! The energy you speak of is amazing! and I feel great! I like to think of my plan(atkins) as a way of life - cause I will be doing it for life! As far as mini goals go - I celebrate(via a clippie) every 5lbs! I love to do the challenges on the board - they help keep you motivated and on plan. I also find exercise and drinking enough water EVERYDAY crucial! If I go 2 days w/o exercising I feel SICK! But the factor that most keeps me on plan is all the folks here on the WISH board.
I for one am not at all offended that you used the 30lb clippie. We were all new here at one time, and I thought that you would want to know about the clippies.
