I love our guide!!!

Wow! Lisa DeRosa is the best!!! Not only did she bend over backwards for us before our first sale with her (over 10 phone calls back and forth, reworking the numbers).... she continues to go out of her way to help us!

She is on vacation this week but checked her voicemail and got my frantic message! She called me from her own phone and then call Member Services to help us use our dec 2002 BCV points at HH this fall!

Her extra effort has been amazing! I am soooo glad we switched guides!

Just had to Toot Toot Lisa's horn!!!

So glad that you had such a great guide. I've seen some really great stories here about some of the guides going out of their way for the members. I won't say that my guide was bad, as she wasn't, but lets just say that I've seen a wide range in the quality of the guides.

laurabearz....I remember you posting and asking if you should switch guides. Glad to see you asked for a new one. I know sometimes it can be awkward to ask for someone new, but it's a pretty important relationship, especially if you think add-ons are in your future!

You are sooo right. I was fretting asking for a new guide. But I know our old guide would never have gone to all the trouble Lisa has! I am sooo glad I changed!

Could I just ask WHO your "old" guides were???

My dh and I looked into DVC in Nov. 98 and we just got the impression that our guide was not that experienced. One big question is. Do they tell you in the sales pitch about Disneys FROR? Does this mean that you can ALWAYS get out of your contract? Because if she had told us that, I know my dh would have bought into it. I only found out about it on these boards.

Do the old guides have any idea that you switched and bought with someone else?

The ROFR is not an automatic out. It is not a guaranteed sale. It simply says that if you actually get a sales contract, DVC can buy it at that price if they want. It hurts the buyer who has a good deal and does not help the seller at all, at least not directly. It may hold values up with could help indirectly. I just had a contract for BW at $54.50 pp and it looked like DVC was going to buy it back but that is in question now so we may or may not get it, only time will tell.

I'm sure they communciate when members change guides, they certainly should. I'm also certain that the guides know who bought resale or bought from another guide but I've never experienced a problem with it.

Thanks Dean for clearing that up.

I thought the ROFR was sort of like an auto out. It will be interesting to see if Disney continues this practice toward the end of the contracts, yrs 45-50 lets say. Also if resales surge toward the end or not at all.

Tink.... I am not sure if my old guide was contacted or not. When I ask to switch guides I made it clear that I didnt think our old guide was all that bad.... just not the "type" that blended well with us. We prefer a more go getter.... (That is what I requested of our new guide) and boy did they deliver. Lisa really has shown her true colors... She was happy for us that we got a great deal re-sale OKW, she was always happy to give us another day or two to think about things (no pressure) and the icing on the cake for me is even after the sale she continues to take that extra mile.....

We have not heard from our old guide.......... and I do feel a twing of guilt about switching.... But soooo happy we have Lisa!
