Why, oh why, can't he just listen!!! Ask him to do such a simple thing - just mailing a box at the post office - totally screwed it up!

Is it just me or do you feel like you've got another child in the house at times??

Oh, he didn't forget. Just didn't do at all what I asked him to do. Sometimes, I feel like I'm talking to a wall.

that is one of biggest gripes about my DH. He doesn't listen!!!!

If I had a dime for every time I said that to him we would be rich. He has selective hearing. If I am talking to someone on the phone he hears EVERYTHING I say. Gets it all wrong, but he at least was listening. But once I am off the phone and try to tell him something he is off into "la la land" where all the the little husbands run to hide.

What I like is when I give him my opinion, he doesn't take my advice, then his way blows up in his face and he always says, "I guess I should listen to you more often..." Repeat daily.

I really believe that men screw things up so they won't be asked to do them again.

They NEVER screw up which brand of beer to buy. They NEVER screw up which night they are going out with THEIR friends.

I opened this thread because I'm furious over something DH did tonight. I was hoping to read something good about some other husband (why the OP's loves her husband) so that it would remind me why I love mine. Oh well, maybe if I spend some more time on the Disboards, I'll get over it.

padams of course we all love our husbands. I adore mine, look at my sig. I hug him like that all the time. That does not mean they do not do bone headed things sometimes and you know what? We do things too. That's what marriage is about. You will get over it and you will forgive him but it's OK to be mad too.

Also if you need reassurance and specific things you have to ask for them (one of my big marriage lessons). You cannot wait for people to read your mind.

Love is not a steady ride of romantic fiction. It's an up and down, day to day grind with kids and accidents and hurt feelings but at the end of a long and productive life I hope to be holding Gene's hand as I slip from this world with all the love of a lifetime in his eyes, whether he is on this side of life or waiting for me on the other (I believe that love can be eternal).

If something really matters I give it to him in writing, and then I make sure he remembers to take the note. I forget things, too, so I have learned from long experience to assume that he won't remember.

I think what's been posted is b/c we didn't want you to feel alone. My dh is great too exept when we refuses to listen to me. My van is squeeking. I'm pretty sure its the breaks warning me. However, my DH has a different opinion (I called him today about it). I tell you, when he finally pays attention to the problem/issue, I'll say, "I told you so blah blah ago". I just have learned to shake my head and keep on posting.
