I love credit cards so much!

Thanks @wendow. I just have this nagging feeling that whoever has my ss# isn't done using it quite yet. :worried:
Well if you froze everything there’s not much they can do. Just keep watch, even after you think it’s ok. Years ago, my sister had her purse stolen with her DL and check book. She wanted to close all the accounts but some of the cc companies just put a security hold on for six months. After 6 months, the holds were lifted and she started seeing charges again. Thieves obviously knew about the fact that security holds were often lifted after 6 months. This was years ago and things are different but still lessons can be learned.
I’m sorry you’re going thru this and hope you don’t see any more fraudulent activity.

Just knocked out the MSRs on DH's SW Priority and SW Biz by making our annual *donation* to the Cal Athletics Development Fund for our football ticket club level seats (well, actually 2 of our 4; happily, my parents cover the other two seats for my immediate family). Can't wait to see that CP in DH's account....

Also used Hilton points and the free weekend night cert from my Aspire card to book 2 rooms for 4 nights in Newcastle, England for a university scouting trip for my DD in August. I also booked a family room at the Radisson Blu Edinburgh for 3 nights for the same trip. So far, this one is a cash booking since points bookings weren't showing as available, but it's fully cancellable up to 24 hours before arrival, so I will keep looking for a way to use the Radisson points I have to defray at least some of the cost for this hotel piece. I've got some Google alerts set up for flights. The best route by far for us is a 1-stop on United through Chicago to Edinburgh, but I've decided to play chicken for a while to see what fares do. I'm likely going to pay cash for these flights while I hoard our URs and MRs for upgrades for our return Africa flights for our June/July Botswana trip and to book Biz/First flights for our 2020 Japan trip, but if I can wait long enough to book the EDI flights, maybe I'll decide I have enough points for these flights as well. Now I'm thinking I should replenish our Hilton points stash for a potential Hilton Tokyo Bay booking for our Japan trip. DH is only at 2/24, so I'm thinking he might need an Ascend or no-AF Hilton Amex (or maybe both!) with me referring him from my Aspire.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but be sure to check your emails from American Airlines. I got an offer for free platinum pro status through May yesterday with no strings attached.

I got this email as well and went ahead and signed up. I also don't have any AA flights planned from now through May, but on the off chance that something changes, I went for it. I suspect I got the offer because I flew AA both in Nov. and Dec., even though those are 2 of my 3 lifetime AA flights that I can recall, lol.

Thank you for your patience! (sorry I didn't read the last part of your last reply very well, was stuck on the 35,000 not be added to the 61,000)

If you have a card you want to get referral points and it is one I am interested in, maybe we can pm eachother.

It's no problem. Ask any questions and someone will try to answer. Hotel points are something I know a little bit about. Not so much airline miles - I'm lost there!

Thank you for the offer. If you are interested you may want to join the Dischurners reddit. @Albort, @Lain, @SouthFayetteFan can help you.

Now you are making me think I should email! I think if I asked and that was their answer on faxing, I might not give them access to my savings account money. I would hope they are better at process but I guess you never know.
Banks regularly use fax vs email. It is thought to be more secure (and truly is). Although a secure encrypted email would also work.

I know I am probably beating a dead horse but I'm still scratching my head over the Disney resorts getting taken off URs. I just don't get it. If Chase and Disney are feuding, and that is why they were pulled, then why were the Swolphin resorts pulled also?? They aren't Disney branded. Other SPG/Marriotts/Westins are still on UR's and in the Orlando area. Other resorts, like WBC, that are on Disney property are still on UR's. I just don't get it and now that I need to book a resort, I'm completely annoyed and mad!

Also, there were Disney resorts showing for me on Hotwire and Priceline and those are all gone now as well. I'm doubly ticked about that as well :badpc:

I emphasize. It's compounded by the fact that I got sucked into Free Dining being offered in July and cancelled my bounceback I had booked in Nov. I've realized this was a dumb decision :crazy2:.

Yeah, I would think a bank has a better process going. But I've worked a couple places where I was continually amazed by people who'd look at the stuff on the fax machine to see if it was theirs and if not, just drop it back in the tray. You picked it up, just take to the person/group it belongs to! It's not like it was a huge office. :confused3 But I kid mostly, I'm assuming an office that still relies on faxes has their act together. My last office we mostly got Spam in our fax so there wasn't much attention paid to it towards the end. It was a water cooler discussion when we got something other than Spam.

I don't always remember but I try to do most sensitive things on my phone with WiFi shut off, using my data if I am in public.
Have you used a money transfer service/app like Zelle? I have heard recently that data is vulnerable with those services but especially Zelle.

This is an incredibly random post, but I just noticed that Discover has lots of card designs again. Last time I'd looked they just had a few colors, the mixtape, and NHL teams. Now they have dogs :goodvibes :rotfl: I am pretty sad that I can't get my NE Huskers card like I had pre-chip card. I actually signed up through a mail offer with that specific card :rotfl: Anyways, I feel like some people here talked about getting the different designs/colors, and mainly I want to get away from the textured that the regular blue card has, so I was wondering if anyone could weigh in on other designs and if they are normal/smooth. I want to switch DHs out because the texture does not lend itself well to his card labels
Both cards I got last year were textured, an NHL Card and a green one. I just put the sticker on the back. DH doesn’t like it on the front anyway, not discrete enough. :rotfl2:

Something that had a half a cup of pecans in the bottom of the cup. I do like pecans - just not so many in ice cream. I don't remember the name as I'm a 'give me that one there' while I point at it type of person.
What is this place? It is at the boardwalk?

Haha, I really see myself as somewhat of a churner-lite compared to lots of the folks in this thread. Since I only got 2 cards in all of 2018, I figured I'd be pretty safe to go for SW biz. I did lower my CLs across personal and biz cards about 2 days before I applied. Once I meet MSR I need to start figuring out what card I want next. With CSR dropping I'll be back to 3/24 so I've got some options. Need to figure out our travel goals over the next few years to find the best option to get us there.
Omgosh. I forgot it is 2019 now. That makes your stats look muuccchhhh better. Duh.:rolleyes1

Hyatt's have award nights that start at 5K and go to 8K, 12K, 15K and I'm not sure how much higher as I've only needed the 15K level so far.

The offer I took in 2017 for my Hyatt card was 40K points and 2K spend. Prior to that it was 2 free nights and not sure how much spend.

I'm not sure an easy, better offer will come around, as the 2nd tier of these newer offers aren't user friendly for me. With someone in a high COL area it's probably a no brainer to do an extra 6K in 6 months, but I'd find it intimidating for the most part.

I think one of the best parts of having the Hyatt card is being able to transfer UR's 1 to 1. Earn at 5X on a freedom and transfer onto your Hyatt account - It's like getting the 15K room for 3K spend on your freedom.
I was looking at the Hyatt Regency in Aruba and it I saw 25k or 33k for club level.

I'm still trying to catch up but am a bit frustrated and it's :offtopic: but we've discussed before. So I had sent my resume in for that job like lots of you suggested. Well it finally got posted after a reorg of the dept and not for the better imo. Anyway I was able to find out it hadn't been filled and a job had been posted yesterday so I asked if she'd gotten my resume. I got the following reponse -

I did some digging on this one. Your email was received, but we didn’t have a job posted at that time so everyone was a little confused. Since then my department has taken on X responsibilities. I created a job description and posted it to our website (Y Role), the role is very different from what it was previously. Take a look and see if you are interested in it still and feel like it is the right match for you. If you do, please submit a cover letter and resume. -

I will still submit one but it won't be much different from what I've sent because I feel my letter already addresses a lot that is in the posting. I feel like the reaponse is a bit of a brush off and like she really wanted to say thanks but no thanks. Because I don't understand what's confusing in the letter when I said I understand you are reorganizing the dept and I'd like to be considered for a position in it.

I wanted some outside opinions since it's an org I've been involved with in one way or another for over 20 years as a member and volunteer at various levels. Thanks!

AmEx continually gets my hopes up with these goofy "Plan it" offers (that aren't really offers). Got excited to see a OM/OD offer, but it's "Spend $250+, get 100% off the plan fee with Plan It®." :headache: I still have the Hilton one of those lurking and every time I see the logo I get excited that it might be a good offer and then, nope, disappointment again. I so wish you could hide offers.

I'm not there yet. I'm just hoping Ocean City holds at 15K at least for the next couple of years.

Same garbage for me.

Thanks for the info. The only service like that I have used is PayPal and that is quite infrequent. I just checked, no activity in the past 2 years. I removed everything from my wallet except for my checking account because I have some money in Ibotta I want to transfer over.

Put your resume in and your cover letter and go for it. They can either say yes or no. Change the letter a little bit to address the job posting in its 'new' form.

They may have an individual in mind already and are going through the process, but maybe you will blow them away. I've seen that happen. Sometimes they can't ignore your credentials if you are indeed the best candidate.

I wasn't always the 'favorite' for any job or promotion I opted for. But I was always the best candidate according to me! I got every promotion I went after, save one in the early days, where I was a bit cockey and clueless and that's when I learned how to interview by fixing the mistakes I was making. And, not everybody is as smart as you are. Sometimes you just have to learn how to play the game.
