I love credit cards so much!

Just paid my DVC dues on the website using a bucket of gift cards! Feels good to have that bill taken care off even though mine was set up as an auto draft. Each time I applied a gift card, the next payment got further away...

I did consider putting part of it on the Amtrak card for 3x points, but I've got a few trips in the can already so decided my best value was to actually use the cards I had gotten discounts on of 5 to 20 plus per cent. Didn't make sense to hoard them even though the 3x looked tasty.

And, for those doing this, I did not use the Disney gift card website to combine. I just used the 'partial payment' feature and it let me make all the payments one after the other. I started with all my $500 cards of course. Now I've got a very small stash left for my trip but if I get needy, I'll drop into a drugstore with my Chase Freedom.

Thank you for this! How would I find out what kind of seats business would have to Hawaii, such a lie flat? This board has given me serious goals for lie flat sometime in my life! An 8 hr flight to Hawaii seems like a reasonable distance to try it LOL I read a couple articles about new Boeing 777 and configurations they fly to Hawaii out of DFW. DFW looks to be our best bet to fly out of currently.

You can tell the type of seat by the picture of cabin configuration (and mileage cost). Look up the flights/routes you want, find out the aircrafts going that route and go from there. Seat Guru is a big help. If you're flying DFW you'd probably have the best luck with American I'd wager.

How long has he been on his dad's prime? They changed it a few years ago to household but if it was already set up you could keep people outside your household. I used to be on my friends but once I wanted to use the video portion I had to get my own and it only let me add my mom since we're in the same house.
It’s been a pretty long time. Probably since we were in high school so like 6 years ago.

Well guys we just used our southwest points and booked our flight to LAX for our Japan trip!! Another piece to the puzzle complete. We ended up spending 42k points for the two of us so still have points left over. The flight there is 6h40min and the flight back is 5hr15min both have layovers. Hopefully we can switch the first flight to a shorter one but we took the long flight because it was 11k points pp cheaper

Another “meh” vote on Mary Poppins here. Saw it this afternoon with DS with our free tickets from ABD. I actually thought Emily Blunt was fantastic as MP. There was just something luminous about her. But she was the best part for me. The rest was just “meh” and actually kind of boring. The movie felt long. Oh well. Also another here who just doesn’t see the reason or need for the Lion King remake. We saw the preview today before MP, and it just looked like an unnecessary rehash.

If he wants to look at credit karma to see when accounts were opened he can get an accurate count.
I’d start with Chase cards since he’s under 5/24...could me meet the $5,000 MSR on a CIP....for the 80,000 URs assuming he’d apply for a business card ?

He doesn't have any kind of a "business" and I don't think he wants to fake one at this point, LOL. I was thinking Chase cards too. And no way he could meet the $5k.

Popping in again after another hiatus to ask for some guidance. Just realized my CIP is about a year old, so I'm assuming an annual fee of $95 will be hitting any day now. I got it for the sign-up bonus (used it already), don't currently use the card. I also have CSR and CSP (and DH has CSR too), so I'm thinking I should cancel or downgrade CIP? What does everyone usually do after a year with it? Not sure if there is anything else I need to consider. Thanks!

I changed mine to the CIC. with 5x for cell, internet, satellite, and the GYFT app it has gotten me quite a few UR throughout the year.

I’d just about finished my CIU MSR today when I got home tonight and realized I’d made a $60 return to Petco and had them refund it to my CIU instead of my SPG Biz, which is actually what the charge was on :sad2: Oops. No one to blame there but myself. I didn’t call to have DH’s CSP expedited but I just need it by 1/9 in order to pay our car insurance premium. That’ll knock out $500, and then I’m thinking I might do a couple thousand dollar payment towards our Disney trip.

Ugh, I think I waited too long. Anyone see discounted iTunes gift cards? I should have grabbed it when I saw the offers who Slickdeals the other day.

I'm trying. I had to pay for everything very early on and we've never had any grandparent/parent help for anything. While I do not mind helping my kids, I do expect they 'own' their activities and work to cover part of the cost. I know that isn't popular on this board based on a thread I posted before lol :)

I think that's a great thing to do. We do things a bit differently, but DD also pays for a lot of what she does, just not for school itself. I guess that's one reason she wants some URs. ;)

The CFU bonus (and regular spend) is paid out in UR points. If you read the fine print of the offer details it should say that the $200 is in the form of UR points that can be redeemed for cash worth $200. It's a crazy marketing thing that confuses people. Probably on purpose so they cash out instead of thinking "hey, why don't I transfer this to my CSR to redeem instead and get more value?" But all Chase's own cards (Sapphires/Freedoms/Inks) pay out in URs.

Ok. Thank you. That makes sense, in a crazy convoluted Chase kind of way. :rotfl: I really appreciate your explanation. It sounds like this could work.

Yes, she can. But keep in mind Chase only allows ONE person to be the household member. Also, he can book for her through the UR portal but in order to transfer UR points to her loyalty programs she would need to a an AU on his CSR Hope this helps.

Can you explain this a bit more? Does it mean she can only transfer points to one of us? Or does it mean that if she transfers her points to DH's CSR then I can't do the same with mine? Sorry I'm really not understanding the Chase transfers. If she can move her points to DH's account and he can use them to book what she wants that could work in the short run.

Everyone was talking about their 2019 travel plans earlier this week and I'm already onto 2020.

DH and I just decided we're for sure doing Hawaii (again, our favorite place) in January 2020 and F&W in October 2020, at AKL our first stay as DVC members!
I'm pretty sure we'll head back to Big Island but we might also pop over to Oahu to check out Aulani for a couple nights. I'm hoping we can get some good coupon deals from Amex FHR for Big Island (we like the Fairmont Orchid).

I guess now I have a goal I can figure out what miles currency to target to get to Hawaii again. I tend to like United for Hawaii. :beach:

(I also want to work in another Disney cruise because I'll be buying a bounceback placeholder on our cruise next month. Don't tell DH! #DiscountedGiftcards)

I love Hawaii - what a great travel goal for next year. We've stayed at the Fairmont Orchid through FHR - between the 4th nights free (times 2), the free buffet breakfasts and the $100 for food we thought it wasn't badly priced at all. And I love swimming with the turtles on that beach. :cloud9: It's been a few years for us and I'd love to go back.

:rotfl:
On our first date, DH and I went to see Beauty and the Beast when it was rereleased in 3D. I still have the glasses :D

One of our first dates was to see The Little Mermaid. Such a great movie! Yeah I'm older than you are LOL. We were pretty young then, at least.

Hmmmmm one saw the 3D re-release...one saw the original release...are we dating ourselves now with these comments :P

I was just thinking the same thing.

It’s been a pretty long time. Probably since we were in high school so like 6 years ago.

LOL. I'm feeling old tonight. :P
