I love credit cards so much!

Popping in again after another hiatus to ask for some guidance. Just realized my CIP is about a year old, so I'm assuming an annual fee of $95 will be hitting any day now. I got it for the sign-up bonus (used it already), don't currently use the card. I also have CSR and CSP (and DH has CSR too), so I'm thinking I should cancel or downgrade CIP? What does everyone usually do after a year with it? Not sure if there is anything else I need to consider. Thanks!

Apply for the CIC and/or CIU if you’re still under 5/24 for their 50k UR signup bonuses. PCing the CIP to the CIC or CIU won’t get you the bonus. Get approved, then SM to close the CIP.

If over 5/24, and won’t be under 5/24 anytime soon, PC the CIP to a CIC if you value 5x UR on your cable, internet, cell phone bill, and gift cards (from office supply stores, Gyft, and Swych), or PC to a CIU if you just want a general 1.5x UR on everything card.

Both CIP and CIU are no fee cards.

Thanks! I need to stop being so lenient with DS’s purchases. And now that we have Spotify, I don’t really need to purchase songs from iTunes.

And now to brave Target tomorrow to pick up the waterpiks, of all things, that DH and DS requested last minute for Christmas. I did the online order for pick up so, at least, I won’t need to check out.

I think that's a great thing to do. We do things a bit differently, but DD also pays for a lot of what she does, just not for school itself. I guess that's one reason she wants some URs. ;)

Ok. Thank you. That makes sense, in a crazy convoluted Chase kind of way. :rotfl: I really appreciate your explanation. It sounds like this could work.

Can you explain this a bit more? Does it mean she can only transfer points to one of us? Or does it mean that if she transfers her points to DH's CSR then I can't do the same with mine? Sorry I'm really not understanding the Chase transfers. If she can move her points to DH's account and he can use them to book what she wants that could work in the short run.

I love Hawaii - what a great travel goal for next year. We've stayed at the Fairmont Orchid through FHR - between the 4th nights free (times 2), the free buffet breakfasts and the $100 for food we thought it wasn't badly priced at all. And I love swimming with the turtles on that beach. :cloud9: It's been a few years for us and I'd love to go back.

One of our first dates was to see The Little Mermaid. Such a great movie! Yeah I'm older than you are LOL. We were pretty young then, at least.

I was just thinking the same thing.

LOL. I'm feeling old tonight. :P
Haha I’m guessing we all feel old no matter how old we really are

I just wasted 2 1/2 hours of my life. We went and saw aquaman. It was one of the worst, if not the worst, movie I have ever seen. I asked Dh multiple times if we could leave. I’m never following rotten tomato reviews again. I literally gave it 1/2 a star out of 5 lol. It was like a really low budget 90s power ranger movie. That’s the only way I can describe it

We saw Welcome to Marwen yesterday. It was... odd. Let's just say I was glad I only paid matinee pricing. :scared:

I guess so. I definitely feel old on this thread, much more so than IRL, where most of my friends who have kids the same age as mine are 5-10 years older than me. Then again, I have a kid in college and many of my college friends have kids in elementary school. ;) I wasn't all that young when we had her, either, but where I live the average age for moms in my "first time mom group" was something like 36.

:rotfl: I'm sorry you wasted a few hours, but I have to say that I love your review!

I’m adopted and so is my brother. My parents didn’t get us until their 30s because it took awhile to first find out they couldn’t have kids and then to go through the adoption process.

Haha well thank you. I went in the bathroom during the movie and wrote my review on flixster. I didn’t want to be in that movie. My 10 yo niece sat next to me the entire movie. People probably hated us because we were laughing so loud at the movie

Toy Story (1) was our first date movie. :)

Just got caught up on this thread on the drive back north from Florida. Stopped for the night now just north of Chattanooga. Still have a 7 hour drive tomorrow. Had a nice trip. Stayed in BLT for the first time ever. Enjoyed the Christmas party last Sunday evening. My boys’ Universal Studios day was a literal washout. Too rainy and stormy to go (Thursday). So they still have unused single day tickets that expire the end of next November. Wasn’t planning to do another Florida trip anytime in the next year but now I guess we’ll have to try and squeeze one in somehow. We drove this time, but now that I have plenty of points and a SW gc from P2’s plat travel credit, I’m thinking we’ll fly and make it a shorter trip. No idea when though!

Other travel in 2019:
End March-Early April - Tucson to visit family. Flying 4 of us on Delta out of Cincinnati; 2 tickets on URs and 2 on ff miles.

End May-early June - Gatlinburg family trip; set up by my dad so not sure how we'll pay our share yet. Possible it would credit as travel on the CSR

Late July - no reservations yet, but hoping to take a road trip to Quebec and then down the east coast. Maybe stay somewhere beachy for 3-4 nights.

That’s all I’ve got right now, but still planning on London/Paris June 2020.

As far as cards go, I’d like a CF at some point, and will PC one or both our CIP’s to whatever...CIC or CIU? I don’t know yet which is which. Maybe one of each. Considering SW CP for 20-21. Other than that, I’m not sure what we'll get.

Thank you! My dd18 does pay 1/3 of her tuition also. I paid my full tuition, though all in the form of scholarships, grants and loans. I came out of college with 40k + in student loans. Same for my dh. Our dd will not have to take very many loans at all if she continues on her current path. Her current tuition is 3k a semester...we pay 1/3, my uncle pays 1/3 and dd18 pays 1/3. Her job easily affords her this option.

And yes, she wants those UR's too!!

Same here. Most moms began much later than me. I had my dd18 when I was 24. None of my friends were even married by then. So I fall into this weird place...the friends of my dd's moms are much older than me. They are in their mid-50's cause they were more of an average age of 35 when they began having their babies. But then, my boys friend's moms are more my age. They were the same age'ish as me having their babies. Which is fine except they have all younger children and still having babies and I have an adult child  It's a funny place to be.

Another “meh” vote on Mary Poppins here. Saw it this afternoon with DS with our free tickets from ABD. I actually thought Emily Blunt was fantastic as MP. There was just something luminous about her. But she was the best part for me. The rest was just “meh” and actually kind of boring. The movie felt long. Oh well. Also another here who just doesn’t see the reason or need for the Lion King remake. We saw the preview today before MP, and it just looked like an unnecessary rehash.

I felt Mary Poppins Returns was way too long as well...again, so much could have been cut out and some things were missing. I was bored during some of the sequences.

We felt exactly the same about MP. Loved Emily Blunt, but the rest felt forced. I did like the cameos though.

He doesn't have any kind of a "business" and I don't think he wants to fake one at this point, LOL. I was thinking Chase cards too. And no way he could meet the $5k.
The UR earning Chase cards..CSR and CSP have $4,000 MSR...the CF and CFU have $500 MSR.....or he could look at the Chase airline and hotel cards.

I have not seen anything in the Chase T&C or the bloggers' write ups to indicate that a household member cannot be a recipient from more than one account. From what I understand, she can transfer to your DH but not to you once she adds him as the household member on her account. I believe, because I don't see anything stating otherwise, that you can also transfer your URs to your DH as well, once you add him as the household member on your online account.

The rules for Chase UR business cards and transferring points is a little different.

We have had 6 additional people "living with us" for SPG points purposes. When it comes to UR, MR, TYP etc. it's just the two of us.
