I love credit cards so much!

:offtopic:Please y'all remind me not to read "mommy points" Summer Hull on TPG EVER AGAIN. Today she annoyed me so much I actually posted a comment. It was my first (and hopefully last) ever. Ugh, just ugh:mad:

Thank you and back to credit cards...I have the weirdest offer on my Amex--9X UR points at Sephora. Guess I'll be stocking up on sunscreen and DD's expensive makeup (okay, mine too:rolleyes:). Combining with Miles Plus Shopping portal (6X) this can earn me both flexible and targets miles. Whoo hoo!
Ok now you made me read it...and comment too..... I don't get the whole dumb article..... that person did an article about a year or so back about sending her little girl alone on a flight.... so I'm guessing that article made money as did this one where suddenly the thought of leaving her kids with their dad to go home was unbearable....(?)

Here is my DP. I was able to get 2 AMEX earlier this year easy peasy. Referred DH to Hilton Biz and auto approval. He/We met MSR quick and then sock drawer the card. Referred him to SPG biz when the offer went up and got the pop-up. After hearing to put some spend on the card, I did about $200 in normal spend on the card (some GC) and kept applying. In all applied 4 times before the pop-up went away. Instant approval. So the pop-up doesn't mean anything to approval or denial. Just has to do with getting the bonus. Agree with others, there is no specific known amount to charge to get the pop-up to go away. Just put some spend on the current card(s) and keep trying. Good luck.
I reffered DH to the Hilton basic (no language email) and he got a 'we're thinking about saying yes' page:faint: what does this mean? I was expecting a popup if they didn't approve right away...but TBH we have so many Hilton cards between us I was kind of surprised to get the offer at all.... they seem to love us too but maybe this is the first sign of no love lol

can someone explain the target cvs using a target gift card to pay for prescriptions?

perhaps my third time asking will be the charm. Or perhaps no one knows. When a card changes it's annual benefit but you are grandfathered in, do you get that benefit for the life of the card?

I have the HH Ascend card. When I signed on you got the free annual night. In October I got my annual night. I was going to sign up fr the HH biz card and cancel this one, but the biz doesn't come with the free night. So I guess maybe I open, hit the spend and close at the year mark.

Have cards ever taken away the grandfathered bonuses?

I need some advice for which card to try to get in which order for P2.

Right now he is 2/24 with one falling off in February and one in April. So since we have been so focused on Chase business cards he has some room to get a few personal.

I want to get the Amex Gold before January 9th for him. But talk about pop ups has me a little worried because his last Amex was the Delta biz Plat last October where they did not want to give us the bonus. Not much has gone on his personal Delta but he has had that a long time. A ton of spending just went on his SPG personal (that is the one that goes off in April) since we just upgraded it to the Lux for the 100k offer.

I also want to get the Arrival Plus. I have no worries about making the spend on it since 3 months of our mortgage would sadly do it.

In next couple months I am also tempted by the Capital One Venture 75k offer. That would be a good card to have so he has a Visa in his wallet. He only wants at most 3 cards and one has to be a Visa for Costco.

Any thoughts? I was thinking I would do the Arrival Plus first and wait until closer to January for the Amex gold (we are still working on the 10k for my Biz Plat) but now worried I might get pop up for the Amex Gold. If that is the case then I need to try now and if get pop up have some time to add spend. What would you all do?

I think they can take them away but I don’t really know. I think your best bet would be to live chat Amex and ask. Then you could also follow up with a call. Have they sent you any paperwork about the card change? Does it say on there?

Regarding Priority pass and LAX..... Did someone mention here before that the PF changs is excluded? what does it mean when a place has this note on it from the PP site?
IMPORTANT NOTE: For Cardholders who pay for individual visits or guest visits, please check this particular offer against your visit fee to ensure it represents value for you.

I love to save money but haven't been engaged in churning or CC miles/points ever! I do have 2 Chase cards (Disney and Freedom). The last card I opened was in 2011. I would like to get to the point of having miles/points for airfare and hotels. Not sure I have the dedication or time to churn like a pro, though.

Quoting my self to start my churning story.
First side note, this post was my first on this thread and it is on page 609 from Jan this year! Wow this thread moves super fast.
My story. I can't exactly remember what my initial search was on to try to find cheaper travel. I know I read some stuff on FlyerTalk and on Churning on Reddit and stumbled on to this thread.

I was always a one to two credit card kind of person. I did open the Disney Visa for the 200 GC before my first visit to WDW. I've had the CF for a long time and was cashing out for statement credits.

Started this year and as of right now I am 2/24 but have opened 8 cards (CIP, CIC, IHG, CSR, SPG Biz, Hil Biz, Citi AA Biz, Aviator Biz) this year. DH has opened (the same way @amalone1013 DH opens cards :)) 6 cards (CIP, CIC, HH Biz, SPG Biz, Citi AA Biz, Aviator Biz) this year. He is a reluctant P2. As long as his credit score doesn't move (actually is a little higher than when we started) and he doesn't have to call, he is fine.

Points so far are 317K UR; 270K AA miles; 300K Hilton points, 40KMarriott (did redeem 270k for N&F cert), 70K IHG. I am still in awe of those of you with 1M+ stashes. I think I will probably be an earn and burn type. I am using this for discounted travel. I am fortunately enough to be able to afford travel but using this to stretch the budget to get more travel in while I can. Both DH and I have experienced some health issues in the last few years and I don't want to wait until I retire to do all I want.

Also this year, I started on bank bonuses. Both DH and I did Chase for $1000, I did 5/3 for $200, Fidelity for $200.

Redemptions so far - used URs to top off SW RR points for flights this year, used the Marriott points for 120K RR points for SW flights in 2019, attached my 7 nights at Springfield Suites in Colorado Springs in 2019, hotel in Boston this year.

Long term strategy: Based on my travel wants, I'll probably hold on to hotel cards for "free" nights. I realize I will have to pay the AF, but like I said I want to stretch my travel budget, not only travel if it is free. I'll look to churn those cards I can, CSR (longer now due to 48 month rule), CIP,... I'll chase Sign up bonuses (I get crazy without a MSR!). I'll put more expenses on a CC than I was ever doing before to earn points - College tuition, utilities, phone bill,.. those things I was paying from checking account.

Sorry so long. Thanks to everyone on this thread for all the advice and answering questions. Back when I posted my first questions, I had just joined Reddit so I could ask there. Fortunately, since I was new, it didn't post there - not enough time since I signed up. I came here and it was been great.

Way to be smart and rock all the Biz cards. I'm blocked out of Chase for quite some time as all my new cards open are mostly personal vs biz, and I have a legit biz that is easy to get cards for. But I can't get any of the Ink....grrrrrrr!

My bonus posted for my Blue Biz today. I was worried about the DPs on Reddit about people meeting the spend not getting the pop up and not getting the bonus. All is good here. Should hit the spend soon on my Gold and hopefully that works too.

@kmc8826 I’d do the Gold card now Incase you get the pop up. My SO has all the same cards as me for Amex except he doesn’t have the Delta Platnium like I do. I applied for the Gold and got no popup. I applied him for the Hilton Biz and he got the popup. Card history is really similar and we both have just been hitting the spend for the bonus and only using occasionally for some Amex offers. It’s weird that I didn’t get it even though I have more cards than him but it’s probably going to happen to me soon.

This is so enlightening to me...you can tell I don't do Amazon often, lol.

Just to clarify...So if I buy a $100 Kohls card for example...Can I put the 1MR against it and then charge $99.99 to my Amazon GC?
I didn't see a reply to this question, but yes, this is how it works. I purchased lots of Amazon Amazon gift cards at Best Buy, Staples, Lowes, etc., with cash back offers). I added them to my account and my wife's account. I linked pay-with-points on each account. On both accounts, I am able to apply a single MR point for the 20% discount, then pay the remainder with my Amazon gift card balance.

I need to figure out a way to set up my kids with MR earning cards. I need to figure out if they can pay with MR points if they are authorized users.

Thanks for explaining. I’ve only had the card since summer so I went back to check my spending. I have put a few hundred a month on the card but it has almost all been using offers to get gift cards. I’ll have to add it on to normal spending once in awhile and see what happens.

Remember the SPG Biz earns 4x Marriott points at gas stations and restaurants. So it's not a terrible card for those purposes.

I'm seeing Amex Offers for spend $200 or more, get $40 back at Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, and Four Points by Sheraton, all four offers expire 1/31/19.

Spend $200 or more, get $60 back at Hyatt Place & Hyatt House, expires 1/1/19.

There's also a spend $225 or more, get $45 back at DoubleTree by Hilton, expires 1/31/19. (Sorry if this is old news.)

When charging the balance to giftcards make sure your AMEX MR card is default or it will keep trying to charge your cc and not use gc balance.

Ahhh . . . I don't have MR but I did the similar UR offer. I could not get Amazon to charge my gift cards after paying with 1 UR point. Amazon was forcing me to use my Reserve since that is the card linked for UR's. So I ended up paying with 1 UR point and charging the remainder to the Reserve. Not terrible but wish I could have paid with gc's instead.

I just got on the chase mobile bandwagon here (that Aldi post drew me in) no Aldi of course but I got some others I may use like 5 guys or starbucks.... do the offers work on a gc purchase? like at lowes or staples? and how do I know which chase card is linked to use for purchasing? when I log in I see all my cards listed, which card are the offers linked to,or is it all of them at once?

Yeah, the Aldi offer reported got me to downloiad the app this morning. No Aldi for me either on any of my 4 cards. There are definitely separate offers for each card. Mine says showing offers for card xxxx at the top. If I click on a different card, then scroll down, I can see different offers. I definitely have the most on my Sapphire Preferred. I haven't tried a GC purchase but plan to try at Starbucks.

Is this the friend you’re trying to help with churning who called you a dream killer?
yeah...

I think its making a note on those PP which only allows cardholder only in and those who have to pay to get in to ask what they get.
most cards though, are cardholder + 2 guest.
