I love credit cards so much!

Hey everyone! I haven't been here in a few weeks, I'm trying to catch up but I've got a couple of questions.
DH is going to apply for his 3rd Chase business cards his CIP has a $7K CL and Marriott Biz has $5K, should he reduce those before he applies for the SW Biz? He has about 60% of HHI with chase.

Also, Chase caps the referral bonus at 50K per calendar year?

Yes, I’m messing with them :) They’re being intentionally vague and 100% shady as they have no activity on our Reddit, quite scammy sounding so I’m having some fun.
ok, i totally get that. My DH and I are opposite political party affiliations, and his pollsters had the unfortunate experience of contacting him at my phone number alot during the recent election cycle. I had quite alot of fun as well.:chat::rotfl2:

Tagging @WVMomof3 and @trenty - Chase United Explorer 65,000 Public Offer with $10,000 MSR in 6 Months, $95 AF Waived First Year, Offer Ends 1/8/19.

I wish I could jump on this, but I'll be over 5/24 until February. I may have my wife jump on this after the new year. This offer is not for everyone, but we fly a lot on United and can manage the spend. Obviously, if you find yourself targeted for a 60k (or even 70k) miles/$3k MSR offer, that's preferable to more miles for much more spend.

While I have many options to fly to WDW, I am pretty much limited to United if I want a direct flight anywhere else since my nearest airport is a United hub.

I was looking into the Explorer, MileagePlus, and MileagePlus Business cards. Do you think this would be good for a first time United card? I was planning on going for the CIP and before this limited bonus, possibly the MileagePlus Business card after that just to stay at 2/24. I like the perks of the personal MileagePlus card, but IDK if they warrant the $450 annual fee.

United is also my company's preferred provider so it would be great to get club access and expedited boarding while not losing any points.

Has anyone done the BoA Bank Bonus? DH is targeted for the $300 one, after $4k in direct deposits in 90 days. Seems pretty straight forward on DoC.

Thanks. Are we certain about the Hyatt card? That one's next on my list, but I can wait until spring for the 4/24 if needed since we have a bunch of MSRs to keep us busy for a while. If it's not falling under, though, I suspect I'd go for it in January.

I wouldn't say it's certain yet, but the amount of denials in a short period seems like something's up. Some of the DP's listed are going by the 7-10 day message on the automated line, which we know is not definitive. The one was denied for too many accounts in 48 months, which is odd also (and scary for a number of reasons). I think we'd know more next week when the letters start rolling in snail mail but I wouldn't get hopes up. We knew it was going to happen some time and if it's not right now it's probably soon.

I'm not totally convinced of the Hyatt 5/24 thing. Those DPs are kinda also all over the place. Also, no DoC confirmation yet?

Yep, both for me and P2. Super easy, but BoA is strict on what counts as a DD. I'd really try to use a real DD if at all possible. The bonus will post within a few days of the statement date after you hit the $4k. BoA also gives you no issues when you call to close the checking account, which is nice.

Bonus: If you want any BoA cards, having the checking account open at the time of application helps immensely.

By MileagePlus, I'm assuming you meant the United MileagePlus Club card? I don't have this card, so I can't really comment. @Calfan has posted about the Club card previously: https://www.disboards.com/threads/i-love-credit-cards-so-much.3528202/page-2323#post-59681667

I think the Explorer is a good United card to get.

Between whether to get a United co-branded card for the miles or another Chase (Ink) card, you can look at 1 UR = 1 UA mile because UR transfers to UA 1:1, but I hate the idea of transferring UR to UA unless absolutely necessary because UR is a lot more versatile than transferring to UA, and sometimes paying for cash seats through the Chase travel portal with UR is a better use of (less) points than redeeming UA miles for award seats.

The fact that the Explorer card often comes with its first year AF waived -- including this 65k offer -- is a real plus, because you can product change the Explorer card to a no fee United MileagePlus rewards credit card after your first year is up.

Whether the 65k bonus is a good one is debatable, because the standard offer was 40k/$3k/3 months, but United often had targeted offers for 50k and 60k (and last year, up to 70k) for only $3k MSR. I think about two weeks ago, United upped its public offer to 50k/$3k/3 months. This 65k offer is a tiered bonus, with 40k after $2k, and another 25k after you hit $10k in 6 months. So that's quite a bit more spend ($7k) for those extra 15k miles.

As for Club access, the Explorer card gets you 2 complimentary passes, but consider you also have Priority Pass lounge access on your CSR.

If you're also looking at the United Biz card, see if you're targeted for the 75k + AF waived offer: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targeted-chase-united-business-explorer-75000-miles-af-waived/

Man, BoA it targeting me like crazy for... $100
Just got an email from them today for the "Your exclusive $100 "thank you" bonus offer". Just need the snail mailer to finish the media blitz. If you really wanted to thank me send me the $300 one... or better yet, approve my Alaska Biz app

I might do it for $100 as it's only $500 in direct deposits vs 4k for the bigger bonus. I think @striker1064 concurred with DoC's info that you pretty much need a legit DD to get this bonus. Some DP's on DoC show other methods might work to avoid the fees but it's slim pickings for alternate DDs for the bonus.

A United card is on my short list for the next 6-months before I likely go over 5/24 (at least for a few months). But, struggling to decide if this is just me wanting the card because of FOMO (once over 5/24, even if short term) or if I can actually find use for it. I think the odds are I will get it just to have a United card in the event I end up under 5/24 for a longer duration than anticipated and should I need to use United/Partners for international travel.

Well I still don’t have my Southwest Points on my account for my Giftcards.com purchase and it’s been over the 15 days that they said it could take. I reached out and they said it’s in the “final stages” and should post in 3-5 days.

Do you have any idea if Southwest would be any different from United in terms of rewarding the points? I did mine through United similar to when you did yours through Southwest, but when I contacted United they told me it would take the standard 60-90 days for the points/bonus points to post (as is stated in the conditions) so I have pretty much assumed that it won't work, at least in my case. Which is a bummer, because if I knew for sure I would do it on all three shopping portals. Fingers crossed that you hear from Southwest about yours soon!

We've had the various United cards off and on over the last few years...what I CAN tell you is that we have United lounge passes that will likely go unused this year due to having Priority Pass through CSR, so I wouldn't weight lounge access too heavily in your decision if you have CSR/priority pass as Lain mentioned (I can't keep up with everyone's cards like he can!)

Our only direct to MCO has been United and we live hear a big hub yet I still refrain from flying them whenever I can. They used to have the only direct to KHL, too, and we felt like United hostages during those years. DH still has PTSD from how badly they treated us during those years (yelling at us, claiming our folding stroller wouldn't fold, not letting us pre-board and making us make the entire plane wait while he seat belted in the car seat... the list goes on and on). So no United CCards for us.

I'm not totally convinced of the Hyatt 5/24 thing. Those DPs are kinda also all over the place. Also, no DoC confirmation yet?

Agree with you and PointsYak. Could just be Chase tightened their approvals.

Thanks Lain & Striker. I appreciate the info and would also appreciate it if you let me know if you hear anything definite one way or the other. Not that I won't ask before applying anyway. ;)

Looks as if our DVC dues are going up quite a bit across the board...now I need some more discounted GCs. :surfweb:

Where are you seeing this information? I don't see anything posted in my account as of today.

Sorry, I don’t know. Hopefully someone here has experience with both. I imagine they are similar since the layout looks the same and they are running the same promotion, but that’s just a guess.
